Born and raised in Brooklyn, New York, @SteenSchmidt is a house and techno DJ, blues rock guitar player, and singer. He has performed in clubs, bars, and toured statewide. He has recorded as a songwriter, guitarist, and singer since he was 13 years young. Along with clubbing since he was 18, Steen is familiar with the NYC underground scene. Years later, he began djing parties and venues around Brooklyn having residencies at Happyfun Hideaway, SILO, Rash, and many more. Steen hosts open decks at SILO for over a year, and also at Happyfun Hideaway for over three years, in which he collaborates with many local DJs to help many beginner DJs get experience or get used to playing live. His party series Debauch has featured artists Frankie Bones, Kush Jones, Concrete Husband, S'aint Panic, Alissa Brianna, SPF50, MZ3, and more in underground venues, SILO, Jupiter Disco, and Earthly Delights. As one of the original founders of @mashtnyc, he and a collective of fellow local DJ's and artists seek to contribute the warm fuzzy vibes and profound effects that varying forms techno and house music have on the soul. The team curates monthly techno-heavy gatherings at Jupiter Disco and Bossa Nova Civic Club in Brooklyn as well as a MASHT NYC podcast featuring local and international guests. Ben Zo has brought his acid-infused, harmonic mixing to vastly-different venues throughout Brooklyn including H0L0, Mansions, SILO, Trans-Pecos and Xanadu; and for every conceivable set time, whether it's sunset at Fourth World, New Year's Eve all-night-long at Happyfun Hideaway, or opening as well as closing Bossa Nova Civic Club, Jupiter Disco and Mood Ring, among other local cornerstones. A versatile selector with a filmmaking background, his consistently cosmic palette largely encompasses heady house and celestial techno, under the heavy influence of Italo, IDM, trance and other melodic samples. Blending the familiar and esoteric in search of vistas that evoke the natural world, he crafts uniquely psychedelic moments that echo long after in thought. He is the organizer of BUSH DÜF, a Bushwick-based party focused on 'cosmic, colorful and cathartic' techno.
