Kikelomo's eclectic sound stems from many influences in her life, including her home city London and her Nigerian roots. As a result, her high energy sets are packed full of everything from techno, house, garage, bass, deconstructed club, house, jungle, jersey club , electro, hip hop and more. This sound has become renowned for its ability to get crowds moving. Since starting out in September 2017, Kikelomo has experienced an explosive growth, playing across multiple continents alongside industry heavyweights, from Objekt to DJ Stingray to Skepta. She has launched t-shirts in collaboration with Adidas and Keep Hush, played and regularly hosts at Boiler Room, as well as continuing to showcase her sound at events like Splash! Festival, the infamous Fusion Festival, opening the internationally renowned CTM Festival at Berlin’s prestigious Berghain/Panorama Bar, in addition to being given the honour of playing to a crowd of 100,000+ people at the Brandenburger Tor national monument, broadcast on national television to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall. With backgrounds in fashion, fine & culinary arts - Tokyo’s idea of a dance floor could be compared to a painting or a well plated dish. His sound is comprised of deep emotion & strategic choices ranging from velvety House to magnetic Techno, warped Breaks and all in between the spectrum of dance music. Christian Tokyo has graced all but a few clubs here in New York - from Bronx house parties to the edge of Ridgewood. Now retiring a 3 year long run of weekly parties at NYC’s cherished bar - Home Sweet Home; Tokyo moves on to focus his time and energy on playing in more countries, building a namesake party in NYC and releasing forthcoming independent projects of his own. Having already been featured on video & radio platforms (NTS, Rinse, Lot Radio etc.) and already performing alongside newer artists and classic NYC legends like the Bronx’s world renowned duo the Martinez Brothers and James Blake (to name a few) Tokyo continues to step forward as a premier selector in a new wave of DJs firmly taking up sonic arms to represent their hometowns. Being raised out of a musical household with mentors from iconic underground New York City parties and establishments from young (The Loft & Limelight) solidified Christian's interest and dedication to his role in continuing the history of dance music. Expanding community around dance music and holding space for new and older members is Tokyo’s ultimate goal and if you’ve been fortunate enough to make his acquaintance at least just once - one would fully understand.
