“Navid, known as Navbox, is an NYC-based DJ, producer, and passionate music curator from Iran.”
their own biography
the whole biography
Navid, known as Navbox, is an NYC-based DJ, producer, and passionate music curator from Iran. Born in Tehran, he moved to the U.S. with his family to escape the regime that imprisoned his father for most of his childhood. His deep roots in music began when he started playing piano at the age of four, which shaped his musical path forward. Navbox started DJing in the early 2000s, mastering his craft in Boston's underground scene while studying at university. Later he presented shows under Stranger Than Paradise (STP) in Washington, DC, which became a key platform for the city’s electronic music culture. He played a major role in shaping the scene in DC in a nascent period, curating countless shows over a decade and playing alongside the likes of Zip, Sonja Moonear, Delano Smith, Thomas Melchior, Cassy, DJ Qu, DJ Three, Danny Tenaglia, N/UM and many more. He has performed internationally at iconic venues like Hoppetosse and Club der Visionaere in Berlin, Output in New York, Fábrica De Arte in Havana, and the desert of Egypt. Blending minimal and rhythmic sounds with a deep respect for the roots and future of electronic music, he has little care for genres: focusing on good music alone. Fusing downtempo to minimal and house, and moving to the harder sounds of techno, there is a time and place for every sound. In addition to DJ’ing, he spends his time organizing shows under Respekt Music. These are opportunities to share his love for music and sound systems in various contexts and environments, further expanding his journey in sound across a wide spectrum of musical experiences. He joins the ReSolute NY team of resident DJ’s in the Spring of 2025.Recently at 96 Morgan Ave, Jolene Sound Room Brooklyn, Elsewhere · often with Stretch, Shaun Reeves, night, none of them here that night
“The three members of N/UM come from a variety of musical backgrounds.”
their own biography
the whole biography
The three members of N/UM come from a variety of musical backgrounds. Jeremy Loucas is a five time Grammy winning mixing & mastering engineer with years spent as a DJ in the underground party scene in NY – Elias Meister, an electronically experimental guitarist with a decade of performance experience in free and improvised music – Emil Bovbjerg is a vocalist, synth instrumentalist and producer/DJ with a background in orchestration and contemporary arranging and composition. Each performance or recording by N/UM is improvised, with no pre-composed songs, no plan or structure agreed upon. Despite the daring premise and unconventional creative approach the raison d’etre and mission statement of N/UM is simple: The opposite of war is a dance floor. N/um translates to medicine or supernatural potent energy. The word is used by the !Kung (formerly Bushmen), an indigenous people of Botswana and Namibia, to describe a healing energy used to cure sickness, both mental and physical, in individuals as well as the community as a whole. N/um is a central part of weekly dancing ceremonies, lasting typically from nightfall into dawn, in which the tribe’s members gather to dance for many hours until dancers enter into varying states of trance. As the trance deepens the n/um builds in the stomach, travels up through the spine and eventually explodes in the brain as the healers reach !Kia, the state in which, according to the tribe’s beliefs, a healer can transfer n/um to those in need of healing as well as to the community where it is said to maintain unity and relieve jealousy, greed and lack of gift giving. Among the !Kung everyone is encouraged to take part in the rituals and over half of the tribe’s members have become healers by the time they reach adulthood. You dance, dance, dance. Then n/um lifts you up in your belly and lifts you in your back, and then you start to shiver. [N/um] makes you tremble, it's hot. . . . Your eyes are open but you don't look around; you hold your eyes still and look straight ahead. But when you get into !kia, you're looking around because you see everything, because you see what's troubling everybody . . . n/um enters every part of your body right to the tip of your feet and even your hair. - Kinachau (via Richard Katz)Their RA profile lists Visionquest, Lost Diaries, Duro and Ninetofire.Recently at H0L0, 99 Scott Ave, Avant Gardner · often with Greg Paulus, O.BEE, Tomas Station, none of them here that night

Andrew M. Ortiz or AMO as preferred, was a connoisseur of gadgets from an early age, but quickly realized his thirst for technology would be drowned out by the soft purring of the Marching band’s snare drum. This would become the sound that superseded all others, including his initial efforts at piano, violin and trumpet- drums are where his heart resides. Merging his loves of technology and music, djing quickly became a new found infatuation. His humble beginnings found him immersed in the upbeat vibe of his own Puerto Rican family parties, often implementing the syncopated grooves and tribal beats commonly found in his musical heritage; AMO delivered a groovy randomness guaranteed to make you move. Pursuing a degree in Recording Art and Music Production at Full Sail University in Orlando, Florida, AMO set the stage for his early breakout; meeting future label mates Chad Andrew, Randall M, and David Gtronic, who later exposed him to his first deep tech and minimal experiences. In 2013, he released his first tracks on the Romanian imprint My First Love Record and later that year signed with Dissonant Records from Ibiza. Since then,he’s released on labels such as Vatos Locos, BlkMarket Music, NG Trax, UnderYourSeat, Tzinah, KiNa Music, Moral Fiber, Bla Bla Music, Deep Tech Records and SCI+TEC, internationally acclaimed, Dubfire’s personal label. Constantly evolving, AMO has developed a pristine command of technical components, lending him the creative freedom to generate a more sophisticated sound that enhances the soul within, and earning him the reputation as one of the best technical producers in the business. Distinguished mixing coupled with his unique synergy of micro-beats, vibrations, harmonies, rhythms, and over 10,000 self recorded, organic elements are all carefully engineered to resonate deep within the listener. “ I have to work in the field of playing with senses and consciousness, while expressing my own feelings in a way that is receptive to the listener. As a creator, I feel privileged with this awesome responsibility of leading the Tribe on a journey. Music is more than an amazing opportunity - it is the meaning of life to me”. It’s this genuine energy that continues to draw love and support from fans and other DJ/Producers, receiving support from the likes of Dubfire, Cesar Merveille, Barac, Hector, Richie Hawtin, Guti, Marco Carola, Mahony, Javier Carballo, Taimur, Alexis Cabrera, Vinyl Speed Adjust, Faster, Guy From Downstairs, Jorge Scavoretti, Rossko, Lumieux, Piticu, Sepp, Coriesu, Nu Zau, Chad Andrew, David Gtronic, Randall M, Primarie, Cosmjn, Andrei Ciubuc, Adam Beyer, Paco Osuna, Marc Antona and more. As 2020 rains down, pandemic pressure has brought new beginnings, shaping his remote business platform, Amo-Music.net, where he offers one-on-one classes, mixing and engineering services, and mastering world-wide, from the comforts of his at-home studio. Broadening the scope of his musical work to include entrepreneurship, in both teaching and as a label owner to O.O.O., launching later in 2020, AMO humbly measures his success by the sustainability of doing what he loves, with the people he loves, and sharing that same love with the world. “Being an artist, to me, means sharing my passion and unconditional love with complete strangers or friends and family, across a room or a dancefloor - without any words necessary. There are no words to describe that moment when you close your eyes and completely dissolve into the energy of a room.Through frequencies alone you connect directly to several hundred or thousands of people, with no phones or computers or physical sensations - it is complete bliss. It is infinite. It is beautiful. It is an absolute honor to be an Artist.” It’s this mindset coupled with his signature, in-the-pocket, syncopated grooves that bring opportunities to play at some of the world’s most renown locations and parties including:Club Der Visonare - Berlin, Germany, Club Avi - Tirgu Mures, Constanta and D.Tales, Cluj - Romania, Club Space, Treehouse - Miami, Sankey’s (Ibiza + NYC), Pacha NYC, Sonar OFF - BCN, ViVa Warriors and Capadi Rebels in Ibiza. While he’s excited to get back to touring, AMO is full throttle in investing in the evolution of himself and his sound. While his Podcast, The Green Room, is currently sidelined he’s investing his time focusing on personal strides, venturing into new territories that explore deeper parts of himself and his inspirations as he prepares to release on Dubfire’s personal venture, SCI+TEC. We can expect Eurorack modular sounds that play into the randomness of his style, mysterious vocals while delivering a stunning collaboration of minimal grooves and dance floor vibes. His undeniable roots pass on more than musical passion and a flare for syncopated beats, but a sense of pride and spirit that’s easily recognizable regardless of the environment. AMO’s excellence continues to rise, with each release continuing to cement his reputation as one of techno’s most energetic and technical minded producers.Their RA profile lists SCI+TEC, Kina Music, Bla Bla, Tapas Recordings and 6 more.Last at H0L0 in Feb · often with jeanska, alemiko, @bbysonni, none of them here that night
