    “"Big love to Mr.”

    their own biography

    the whole biography
"Big love to Mr. Bruna...This guy is the epitome of DNB in the USA.. He has the passion, the heart and the soul.. DNB will rise again and hopefully you can start Camo again one day... If all promoters had Mr. Bruna love for this music in the States dnb would be where dubstep is right now..." ~ Fabio of "Fabio & Grooverider" "NYC's #1 Drum & Bass Club DJ." ~ DJ ESP aka Woody McBride CHRISTIAN BRUNA (Camouflage, NYC) Bio/Trustory: A real native New Yorker, Christian was born, raised, and educated in New York, New York. In the late Summer of 1991 he got his start in the Electronic Dance Music scene at the early age of 16 attending Future Shock Friday's at Limelight, and shortly thereafter N.A.S.A. at the legendary Club Shelter. As one of the first street promoters of the infamous N.A.S.A. party's he helped kick start the beginning of a new era in dance music. With the earnings he made from promoting Christian invested in building a record collection ranging from House, Techno, and Trance, as well as Breakbeat, Hardcore, and Jungle/Drum & Bass - representing the gamut of music in the underground rave scene at the time. He then began feverishly learning how to dj and getting his first gigs behind the wheels of steel. Meanwhile in those formative years he was also a champion skateboarder winning local contests, and skating with friends who went on to become top pros. Additionally, "CBEE" (Christian's alias/street tag) was also a recognized graffiti writer/artist regarded by many as one of the most original to come out of Queens during that era. In 1994 CB earned 15 minutes of fame when he became part of the original cast in the cult classic film "KIDS" (look for him in the Nitrous/Paul's House scene) directed by the one and only Larry Clark and co-produced by the legendary Gus Van Sant. He was also an extra in the drama film called "The Ice Storm", directed by Academy Award–winning director Ang Lee. Shortly thereafter, Christian looking to get more involved in the music industry began working at the notorious Satellite Records, as well as Temple Records downstairs from the infamous Liquid Sky store. Where he bought and sold Jungle/Drum & Bass for both businesses. In the summer of 1995 he became a regular guest dj at local raves, outlaw parties and premiere electronic dance music club nights throughout NYC and the Tri-State area. He quickly joined the ranks of NYC's elite and most sought after rave dj's. Performing at parties both locally and out-of-state at the tender age of 19, he accomplished what many still dream of today. Since then he has performed at countless events from coast to coast and played for nearly every major promoter and club in NYC. His 20 + year dj career has taken him to many venues throughout the United States, and internationally to Buenos Aires, London, and Montreal. He has also dj'ed in some of NYC/NJ's most legendary dance clubs and venue spaces such as: Amazura Concert-Hall, Arc, Asbury Park Convention Center, Club Shelter, Downtime, Guernica, Hammerstein Ballroom, Highline Ballroom, Fun, Hotel Chantelle, Hunka Bunka Ballroom, Knitting Factory, Limelight, Music Hall of Williamsburg, Nation, Nells, Octagon, Palladium, Randalls Island, Roseland Ballroom, The Roxy, Save The Robots, S.O.B's, South Jersey Expo Center, Studio B, Sullivan Room, Tunnel, Twilo, Vinyl, and Wetlands, amongst others. In March of 1997 at 21 years of age Christian created perhaps what he is mostly known for; NYC's longest running 21+ weekly Drum & Bass party known also known as "Camouflage". Which celebrated its 14 year anniversary in March of 2011 and ended its weekly reign on Tuesday August 30th of 2011. Christian became one of the only D&B dj's in the world to hold a weekly residency for just about 15 years, which of course is in conjunction with Camouflage. As the main man responsible for the inception of this party, he was an integral part and key figure in the development of the Electronic Dance Music scene since the early 90’s. He kept the original Camouflage vibe consistently alive through thick-and-thin since 1997, week after week for nearly 15 years. Despite the difficulties involved in keeping any weekly party in motion for that long in NYC or anywhere in the world for that matter. Especially since the party was held on Tuesday nights. Highly respected and talented artists which have been invited to perform at Camouflage and/or Camouflage related events include: Adam F, A-Sides, Baron, Bailey, Big Bud, Bryan Gee, Cause 4 Concern, Chase & Status, Clipz, Craze, Cyantific, DB, Dara, Dieselboy, Dillinja & Lemon D, Doc Scott, Ed Rush & Optical, Fanu, Fabio, Fierce, DJ Flight, Freaky Flow, Future Prophecies, Jayline, J Majik, John B, J.Smooth, DJ Kane, Kemo MC, Logan D, Loxy, LTJ Bukem, Marcus Intalex, MC Tali, Micky Finn, Nico, Odi, Perfect Combination, Pete Rann, Q-Project, Raiden, R.A.W., Reid Speed, Shimon, Shy FX, Simon "Bassline" Smith, Skynet, Stranjah, Sub Focus, Suv, Syncopix, Tayla, Tee Bee, Tony Anthem, Total Science, Trace, Twisted Individual, and too many others to mention! His dj sets are full of creativity, diversity, originality, and surprises each time he performs at his own events, or the few promoters he chooses to work with from time to time. His classic and cutting edge selection range all across the board, covering the full spectrum of the syncopated 160bpm + scope. Perhaps one day soon the Camouflage Chameleon will return and bring forth an authentic blend of past, present and future Jungle/Drum & Bass to a city near you. Last, but not least about 10 years ago Christian began to produce on his own and came out with his first official solo release in January of 2010. The track titled "Imagine That" is out on the Russian label called Liquid Brilliants, and it managed to reach #77 in Beatport's Top 100 D&B Downloads upon its initial release. A feat very few artists manage to achieve with their first release. His follow up called "Soul Train (feat. Kech Rec)" also on Liquid Brilliants was included in Beatport Chart's - 10 Must Hear Drum & Bass Tracks - Week 17 (21.04.2011). Both tunes have been remastered and rereleased by the same label in recent compilations. In 2013 and 2014 Christian released his first original Techno track called "End of Line" and a contemporary Drum & Bass remix for NYC underground House legend Sameer, an original track titled "Giovanni's Thought's". Both tracks were released on Bill Kraemer's reaping label called The Seed. In 2014 Christian came back with a club funk drum and bass single called "Feelin' Love" on The Seed, and "Feelin' Love Remixes" on Liquid Brilliants. On December 11, 2017, 6blocc released Christian's tune, "Phantasm", on the compilation titled Stateside Junglism Vol. 1. Continued music production and the start of a new record label are in the works for the not so distant future. Keep your eyes peeled and ears open for more promising news...
