"Riobamba is an Ecuadorian-Lithuanian producer, DJ, and cultural activist based in Brooklyn. Riobamba’s rowdy, deeply researched live sets reflect back nightlife’s power as a site of joy and resistance, amplifying connective tissues between YouTube clips, dembow brujería, bodega soundtracks, and noise hyperreality “suped up with a twisted, industrial gnarl” (Complex). As a self-made bridge between música urbana’s underground movements and pioneers, Riobamba has recently shared the stage with Tego Calderón, Maluma, Nina Sky, DJ Playero, Rosa Pistola, and DJ Blass. The Fader has called her production work “a radically self-expressive piece of futurism that stands against a single, boxed-in definition of what Latinx club music can be.” Riobamba is founder of record label and creative agency APOCALIPSIS, a platform insistent on visibility for narratives by those “ni de aquí, ni de allá” (neither from here, nor there); recent highlights include curating and co-producing Boiler Room’s first reggaetón showcase, and providing ongoing music education in a Brooklyn juvenile detention center. Riobamba leads A&R for the iconic Nuyorican music label Fania, home to groundbreaking artists Celia Cruz, Héctor Lavoe, and Willie Colón, and was previously Music Editor of cultural platform Remezcla. Prior to moving to NYC, she was the first Colombia-based researcher in the Fulbright-mtvU program, studying the subversive power of digital music production in a region enduring the effects of civil conflict. Her original work has been featured in Resident Advisor, Univision, Fact Mag, The Fader, Thump, Complex, and Red Bull Music Academy Radio." - DISCWOMANTechno on 2, Reggaeton on 2, Ambient on 1 and Bass Music on 1. styles on their catalogued releasesReleased on Orphan Records (2) (1), Place (1) and Sony Masterworks (1). labels on their catalogued releasesRecently at Avant Gardner, Paragon, Elsewhere · often with Mansaf Mama, Oscar Nñ, DREAMINSLOW, none of them here that night

the whole biography
MPeach, aka Mariana Martín Capriles, is a Venezuelan multidisciplinary artist living in Brooklyn, NY. As a vocalist, producer, DJ, and audiovisual artist, she intertwines bass-heavy electronic sounds with rhythms rooted in traditional music. Having built a body of work that explores sounds of Latin America, the Caribbean, and Africa, as well as the possibilities of these sounds in new electronic territories, MPeach lives in the liminal borderlands between honoring folk sounds rooted in rich cultural histories and envisioning the future of Latin American sound. By engaging Venezuelan folkloric music as a tradition that remains alive and evolving, she challenges stagnant notions of authenticity by creating work that is responsive to the forces that shape its creators, listeners, and dancers, using electronic music as a vehicle for preserving tradition in the collective memory. She has toured across the United States, Latin America, and Europe. MPeach has released music with Dutty Artz, Abstractor, Nacional Records, Interscope, Majia, On the Corner, and her own imprint, Peachtwon. Her music appears in several official motion picture soundtracks, including films such as Piedra, Papel o Tijera and Skate Kitchen, as well as television series like HBO’s Betty. She has performed alongside Arca, Cardopusher also known as Safety Trance, DJ Babatr, DJ Yirvin, and Phran at the first-ever Boiler Room in Caracas, Venezuela.Last at Jade in May · often with JOSELO, 8888, Kamikaze, none of them here that night
