    their own biography

    the whole biography
David Morales is a globally revered American DJ, a Grammy award-winning record producer, songwriter, and a businessman. He has produced and remixed over 500 records for an all-star roster of multi-platinum artists, including Mariah Carey, U2, Michael Jackson, Aretha Franklin, Madonna, and Whitney Houston. The global phenomenon and penetration of dance music into Top 40 radio would not have been possible without him. Morales launched DIRIDIM Records in 2018. With this new label, Morales is signing and developing artists—and naturally, releasing some of his own productions. DIRIDIM celebrates all kinds of dance music, from the classic sounds Morales is known for, to straight up electronic. His unquenchable thirst for newness is precisely why this native New Yorker remains relevant. “It’s about keeping an open mind,” Morales explains. A native New Yorker, Morales was one of the first superstar DJs to actively tour the world—and his activity, over the years has only increased. In 2020, due to the global pandemic and inability to travel, he launched, Sunday Mass, a livestreaming show on Twitch to entertain his fans across the world. The 2021 IMS Business Report based on data, cited him as one of the dance music artists who experienced online success during the pandemic. As restrictions for travel continue to ease globally, Morales has DJ gigs booked through the end of the year in New York, the UK, Italy, Greece, and Croatia. FILM /TV/FASHION/RADIO David Morales has transcended musical genres to create a global brand. His music productions have appeared in popular films and television shows, including The Devil Wears Prada, Ninja Turtles 2, Don’t Mess With the Zohan, and Star (TV Series). His DIRIDIM radio show can be heard on Ibiza Global Radio and numerous other stations around the world which is streamed to millions of listeners around the world. In 2016, Morales was the lead judge on “Top DJ” a national television series broadcast on Italia 1. When it came time to wear his fashion model hat, Morales appeared in a global advertising campaign for luxury design house, Iceberg. HISTORY David Morales honed his skills as a DJ in the 1980s and 1990s at such legendary clubs as the Ozone Layer, Paradise Garage, Red Zone, Zanzibar, Tunnel and Club USA just to name a few. When the remix and DJ work began taking off, Morales teamed up with house music legend, Frankie Knuckles, and For The Record DJ Pool founder/NYC nightlife impresario, Judy Weinstein, to create Def Mix Productions. Morales’ prolific production career kicked into high gear in the 1990s with the release of his solo debut album, “The Program” by David Morales & The Bad Yard Club. In the late-1990s, with hundreds of remixes (Mariah Carey’s “Dreamlover,” Janet Jackson’s “Throb,” Alison Limerick’s “Where Love Lives,” CeCe Peniston’s “Finally,” Jamiroquai’s “Space Cowboy”, Jaydee’s “Plastic Dreams,” Robert Owens’ “I’ll Be Your Friend,” under his belt, Morales recorded the groundbreaking house classic, “Needin’ U,” under the alias David Morales Presents The Face. Morales’ second album, “2 Worlds Collide,” arrived in 2005, followed six years later, by his third album, “Changes.” David Morales was nominated for his first Grammy Award in 1996 as a Producer on Mariah Carey’s album, ‘Daydream’ for the song ‘Fantasy’. In 1998 he won a Grammy Award for “Remixer of the Year.” Though Morales’ past is surely one for music’s history books, the DJ-turned-artist always has his eyes firmly focused on the future—on what lies ahead. He keeps an ear to the ground, regularly exploring new music, new artists, and hotly tipped DJs who might inspire him to “go and do my homework.” He happily embraces the new generation of clubgoers. “They don’t care about yesterday”, he says, with a knowing smile.
Their RA profile lists Defected Records, Azuli, King Street Sounds, Ibadan Records and 6 more.

“Once upon a time in a galaxy not far away, there lived two kings.”

    their own biography

    the whole biography
Once upon a time in a galaxy not far away, there lived two kings. Each was the ruler of his own deliciously glorious planet. The first king, Manchildblack, was well known throughout the cosmos for his ethereal vocals, celestial sonics and earthy musical messages. The other king, Monstah Black, was a star in the solar system for his gravity defying performances, gender bending fashions and spacey disposition. One magical night, an inexplicable ultramagnetic pull forced the two planets to collide. A technicolored explosion occurred, turning night into day, with a feast of aural and visual delights. It was then that the universe was changed forever. Manchildblack and Monstah Black united and became The Illustrious Blacks. With inspiration from artists like Prince, David Bowie, Grace Jones, Boy George and George Clinton, The Illustrious Blacks have arrived with a mission to fuse futuristic funk, hypnotic house and cosmic pop into pulsating positivity for the planet. The real life married couple are not only co-pilots on their artistic voyage, but are united in their fantastical journey through life. In 2017, The Illustrious Blacks released their highly anticipated debut EP, NeoAfroFuturisticPsychedelicSurrealisticHippy, on Concierge Records. The EP features the high energy single "Blast Off," the seductive "Red Light," the thought provoking "Delusions of Grandeur" and the anthemic "Black Like Jesus." In the same year, the dynamic duo also found time to work with producer Nickodemus on a remake of the 90s dance floor classic "Funk That!," which spawned a popular music video. The acclaimed couple found even more praise for their epic live shows and DJ sets, which fuse music, dance, theater & fashion as the ingredients to expand minds, shake bootys and save the world one beat at a time. Their infectious DJ set on Okayplayer’s Facebook live went viral and has put them on the global radar of emerging musical artists. The Illustrious Blacks have been featured at packed venues such as Central Park Summerstage (NYC), Joe’s Pub at The Public Theater (NYC), Output (NYC), Le Poisson Rouge (NYC), Performance Space New York (NYC), Brooklyn Bowl (NYC), C’mon Everybody (NYC), Afterglow Festival (Mass) and even found themselves touring to Bali, Indonesia. The Illustrious Blacks have been receiving praise from major media outlets including The New Yorker Magazine. Their celebratory music video “Black Like Jesus” was premiered in Billboard. Also, their single “Revolutionary Love” debuted in Paper Magazine, while its music video was featured on Out.com. They were also featured in a lifestyle article for the New York Times. 2019 is shaping up to be a busy year for The Illustrious Blacks. With a tour of Asia, Australia and the UK planned, they have been commissioned to create a brand new live show as part of The Shed's inaugural Open Call in NY. Simultaneously, they are recording their debut full length album to be released later in the year. Individually, Monstah Black and Manchildblack illuminate the galaxy with equal magnitude. As The Illustrious Blacks, they have combined their powers to save the world one beat at a time, and encourage all to LIVE THE HYPE LIFE!

  • Ameer Brooks

New York City · 15 bookings since Oct 2023

“Ameer’s earliest musical influences came due to his parents’ love for all types of music.”

    their own biography

    the whole biography
Ameer’s earliest musical influences came due to his parents’ love for all types of music. Throughout his childhood, he would become obsessed with artists like Michael Jackson, The Notorious B.I.G, and Kool and the Gang. Ameer’s Father, Muhammed Samir, listened to House Music, DJs like Alan King and Naeem Johnson, often, sprouting Ameer’s later love for the genre. He was first introduced to the art of djing through a program on MTV at the age of seven, already having been loving music for years. From there his parents bought him a Numark iDJ Live and the rest was history. Soon it would be clubs at 14, festivals at 15, Miami at 16, and so on. Ameer has been playing for over 10 years, and over the years has employed several techniques to spice up his sets like playing original remixes and mashups, and playing 3-4 songs at one time. Ameer has been booked with some of the DJ greats over the last 10 years of his djing career. In Miami at the Yuca Club in 2017, he was booked with Louie Vega, Timmy Regisford, and Ultra Naté during the Miami Music Week. Later that year he would be booked with the legendary Chosen Few DJs in Chicago. 2018 would bring the Jamaica Frenzy in which Ameer would participate in a weeklong event in Negril, Jamaica being booked with other DJs like David Harness, David Morales, Dj Spinna, DJ Spen, Salah Anase, and several other DJs. More recently he was blessed enough to be booked in a tour through Montreal, Atlanta, and then Washington D.C. in which he was booked on the same card as Black Coffee, Themba, DJ Angelo, Blondish, and Paskal Daze. Besides doing music Ameer is a current 4th-year student in college, studying National Security Media Arts, and minor in African American History. In conjunction with school and music, Ameer also is in love with the visual arts and has been fascinated with video production since childhood. Ameer looks to film series like Star Wars, Ghostbusters, and Indiana Jones as his earliest influences when it comes to visual arts. Ameer is also an avid photographer and videographer and plans to pursue work in the visual arts, while also doing music. Ameer also has released several original songs including Are You Afraid and House Strutting which was released under the OPOM record label. Ameer’s first independent release was called Doom, which was released in 2020. Ameer plans on continuing to release more and more music and hopefully DJ more internationally in the coming years. Along with djing Ameer hopes to grow his YouTube and Twitch career and create content across his various passions. Within the next 5 years, Ameer is looking to graduate college and grow his support base through hard work and consistent output. Whether it be gaming videos, twitch streams, or original music the goal is to put out good and well-produced content that people can enjoy
