“Jeffrey Sfire is originally from suburban Detroit, where he was introduced to underground dance music and illegal warehouse parties as a teenager in the 90's.”
their own biography
the whole biography
Jeffrey Sfire is originally from suburban Detroit, where he was introduced to underground dance music and illegal warehouse parties as a teenager in the 90's. This escape from suburbia led him to the dancefloors of the city’s most talented DJs and musicians, who soon exposed him to a new culture of creative riches. Learning by example, Sfire’s taste and skills as a DJ developed naturally and he soon began playing out at parties, clubs and sleazy gay afterhours, entering covertly through back doors or with a fake ID. At the age of 18, a move to Chicago led Sfire to a whole other side of dance music history, including the Italo Disco and High Energy sounds of the 1980s. He spent afternoons digging through record store crates, meeting retired DJs and developing his musical palette. Jeffrey’s style is absolutely unique and clearly tied to the roots of his midwest upbringing and he can be found working the floor out with italo, high nrg, chicago house, and everything WBMX. Having held numerous club residencies, he regularly plays in LA, Detroit, Chicago, and New York, consistently offering a finely-tuned selection at clubs like Basement and Nowadays in NY, Panoramabar Berlin, and Hot Mass in Pittsburgh. He also has a hand in producing parties such as Detroit's infamous Movement weekend queer rager, Club Toilet, and collaborating with Justin Cudmore on a new monthly Sunday party at Signal (NY). Jeffrey is also a gifted producer and one half of production projects: Sfire (with Sophie), Looky Looky, and Pushing Movies with releases on labels such as Dark Entries, Cocktail D’Amore Music and Ultramajic, while his mixes have long been prized for their depth and quality and are often featured as RA mix of the day.House on 6, Deep House on 4, Synth-pop on 4 and New Wave on 3. styles on their catalogued releasesReleased on CockTail d'Amore Music (1), HMRecords (1) and The Brvtalist (1); their RA profile also lists Ultramajic. labels on their catalogued releases and on their RA profileRecently at Paragon, Gabriela, BASEMENT · often with Mike Servito, Justin Cudmore, Sterling Juan Diaz, none of them here that night
“Electric is the only way to describe Andi’s sets.”
their own biography
the whole biography
Electric is the only way to describe Andi’s sets. The NYC-based DJ, producer, and SYNTHICIDE label/party boss constructs a dynamic and intoxicating flow that’s always palpable between the walls of the foggy, neon-lit dancefloor. Parts sleaze and sultry, Andi’s aesthetic is body music based, thriving on the delivery of the groove and the bombastic highs of a track’s apex. As a devotee of distinct sounds such as EBM, new beat, Italo, freestyle and housey 90s elements, her sets reflect her deep vinyl collection: diverse, yet focused, and completely one-of-a-kind. Her own productions aim to challenge the expectations within the confines of traditionally masculine dance genres. With bassline-heavy grooves and a conceptual emphasis on storytelling with samples taken from long-forgotten erotic thrillers and seedy sci-fi films, Andi adds a wry yet delicate touch to machine music. As the boss of SYNTHICIDE—the internationally known party, label and event series—Andi has cultivated the dark underground scene for over a decade in Brooklyn. SYNTHICIDE started at the notorious club in Bushwick, Bossa Nova Civic Club, where the party still holds a monthly residency. Additionally, Andi is a resident at The Lot Radio and NYC’s Gabriela.EBM on 13, Techno on 9, Industrial on 7 and New Beat on 5. styles on their catalogued releasesReleased on Eskimo Recordings (2), Dischi Autunno (1) and Surface Reality Records (1); their RA profile also lists Mannequin, aufnahme + wiedergabe, Mecanica, Synthicide and 1 more. labels on their catalogued releases and on their RA profileRecently at House of Yes, Earthly Delights, Mad Tropical · often with Arvin T, Rok One, Danny White, none of them here that night
