“Romania has quite an extensive history with minimal tech-house.”
their own biography
the whole biography
Romania has quite an extensive history with minimal tech-house. The various waves of talent to bust out of the country have something in common: they were all masters of form and function. One of the latest additions to this great legacy is Mihai Pol. Now he is stepping out into the spotlight. Mihai Pol burst onto the scene in 2016 with "Goneta" through Capodopere, a EP, which stood out for its lightness and striking uniqueness. His discography has evolved at a pace all its own. No two 12-inch records sound the same - from the sputtering acid of "Synkop" to the dreamy, rolling house textures of "Tango". Following his work as a producer, Mihai works equally on the mind and the body in his role as DJ; this requires true artistry to pull on the hearts and move the legs in rhythm at the same time. "I like to make people dance and feel good, but I also try to tell a story, so it's something in between," says Mihai. Fast forward to the present and we see him traveling the world's underground venues and festivals, with pit stops on every continent.Their RA profile lists Satya, Pineapple Express Records, Yecad Music, Bohrium Records and 1 more.often with RAAUL, Armii1n, The Alley, none of them here that night

the whole biography
Luis Cabrera a.k.a. NegK (Cuenca, Ecuador, 1986) realized after he first played the bass guitar that his world would revolve around music. His auditory existence has always allowed him to be close to new musical trends. Attentive to the growing electronic movement in his country, he became an aficionado and a collector of the genre. In 2003, he traveled to New York City, acquired his first turntables, and started to build his record collection with a minimalistic house and techno sound. In this way, he propelled himself into the musical realm and began his career as a DJ. He introduced himself to the local underground scene by playing at his city’s first private parties and after-parties. His minimalist tech house and techno style, new at the time, quickly captivated the public, consolidating a large group of followers. In a short time, NegK established himself at both a local and national level, giving him the opportunity to organize events and become part of the most important festivals and parties in Ecuador with the help of his good friend Pancho Piedra, who is considered to be the pioneer of the underground movement in Ecuador and who has educated the public to this movement making Cuenca one of South America’s most important locations in the underground music scene. At the same time, NegK was an important part of creating this new way of life in the city. His musical taste and tendency has led to him sharing the booth with celebrated DJs such as Francis Harris aka Adultnapper, Konrad Black, Magda, Marc Houle, Jeremy P Caulfield, Franco Cinelli, Tony Rohr, John Selway, Cesare vs Disorder, Shadi Megallaa, Connie, and others. In 2008, NegK move to New York where he found a much larger open door for his musical career, and little by little he has risen in the New York music scene, where he has great recognition. In a short time, he became a resident DJ for Rite of Wednesdays in the Lower East Side club Karma, where he played in one of the most important Wednesday night events in New York. From there, more opportunities opened, leading him to play some of the most important clubs in New York, such as Cielo, TBA, National Underground, Stay, Porch, and others. It has also led him to be part of incredible lineups comprised of both local and international talents. In time, NegK began to consolidate his own sound and style: a retro-groove mix with a minimalistic tendency and a base between house and techno. Today, he works at his label AnusualRecords, which launched in 2010 in Barcelona. Soon, he will print new releases on wax and host a radio show in Sub.fm (London) every two thursdays a month plus a summer residency in the Hamptons where he promotes and Djs in different parts of the end of Long Island.Their RA profile lists Anusual Records.Recently at Apollo Studio · often with Richard O'Bryan, Rana Iravani, KALISMÃ, none of them here that night

“The three members of N/UM come from a variety of musical backgrounds.”
their own biography
the whole biography
The three members of N/UM come from a variety of musical backgrounds. Jeremy Loucas is a five time Grammy winning mixing & mastering engineer with years spent as a DJ in the underground party scene in NY – Elias Meister, an electronically experimental guitarist with a decade of performance experience in free and improvised music – Emil Bovbjerg is a vocalist, synth instrumentalist and producer/DJ with a background in orchestration and contemporary arranging and composition. Each performance or recording by N/UM is improvised, with no pre-composed songs, no plan or structure agreed upon. Despite the daring premise and unconventional creative approach the raison d’etre and mission statement of N/UM is simple: The opposite of war is a dance floor. N/um translates to medicine or supernatural potent energy. The word is used by the !Kung (formerly Bushmen), an indigenous people of Botswana and Namibia, to describe a healing energy used to cure sickness, both mental and physical, in individuals as well as the community as a whole. N/um is a central part of weekly dancing ceremonies, lasting typically from nightfall into dawn, in which the tribe’s members gather to dance for many hours until dancers enter into varying states of trance. As the trance deepens the n/um builds in the stomach, travels up through the spine and eventually explodes in the brain as the healers reach !Kia, the state in which, according to the tribe’s beliefs, a healer can transfer n/um to those in need of healing as well as to the community where it is said to maintain unity and relieve jealousy, greed and lack of gift giving. Among the !Kung everyone is encouraged to take part in the rituals and over half of the tribe’s members have become healers by the time they reach adulthood. You dance, dance, dance. Then n/um lifts you up in your belly and lifts you in your back, and then you start to shiver. [N/um] makes you tremble, it's hot. . . . Your eyes are open but you don't look around; you hold your eyes still and look straight ahead. But when you get into !kia, you're looking around because you see everything, because you see what's troubling everybody . . . n/um enters every part of your body right to the tip of your feet and even your hair. - Kinachau (via Richard Katz)Their RA profile lists Visionquest, Lost Diaries, Duro and Ninetofire.Recently at Mansions, H0L0, 99 Scott Ave · often with O.BEE, Tomas Station, Salar Ansari, none of them here that night

“Exposed to music from day one, the guitar was first for Luka and it came from somewhere harder.”
their own biography
the whole biography
Exposed to music from day one, the guitar was first for Luka and it came from somewhere harder. Growing up in Belgrade under sanctions and bombs, music became his fantasy world for escaping reality. Spending weekend nights in his mid-twenties in Berlin’s scene while studying classical music and preparing concerts in Zurich, he discovered something in endless nights at Panorama Bar and rising collectives that a concert hall couldn’t offer: belonging, a space where community and music became one, where joy rose into a form of resistance and healing. „I‘m not a DJ, you mixed me up“, Luka turned down his first booking request. 2 months after that first show for Herrensauna in Zurich, Paragon NYC happened and he fell in love, even though it took him a while to call himself a DJ. Luka digs what moves and plays tight, blending overlooked records with modern productions until the decades between them disappear, moving from floating to physical, hypnotic to hard, shaped by years spent collaborating across dance, visual art and live electronics before touching a CDJ. The concert hall still shows up in how he plays: long phrasing, returning motifs, a build that teases before it breaks. tanzen6000 grew directly out of that experience and a need for unity: Zurich’s scene felt split into bubbles that rarely met, so he pitched an idea for a tiny venue: 4 DJs, completely different sounds. It sold out. The second edition doubled capacity. Today tanzen6000 is one of Zurich’s vital queer-led collectives with home-base at Kauz, where POC, trans, queer and FLINTA artists shine and amplify unity between communities. Selected past venues: Macadam (Nantes), Motel Campo (Geneva), Montreux Jazz Festival, Nachbar (Amsterdam), Bizarre Festival (Paris), Dalston Superstore (London), Garcon Sauvage (Lyon), sic (CDMX), Paragon (NYC), Podlasie (Chicago), Le Bain (NYC), Schwing & Stampf Festival, six dogs (Athens), Kauz (Zurich), Exil (Zurich), Circle Park (Brussels), Dolu (Sofia), Brutal MX (CDMX), Vago (Lisbon), Flower Factory (Washington D.C) Selected podcasts: Smut, Kiosk Radio, Rinse, IsBurning, Vitamine, HomodropRecently at Paragon, Le Bain, Black Flamingo · often with Kurilo, Dati, Armii1n, none of them here that night
