the whole biography
Jeffrey Sfire is originally from suburban Detroit, where he was introduced to underground dance music and illegal warehouse parties as a teenager in the 90's. This escape from suburbia led him to the dancefloors of the city’s most talented DJs and musicians, who soon exposed him to a new culture of creative riches. Learning by example, Sfire’s taste and skills as a DJ developed naturally and he soon began playing out at parties, clubs and sleazy gay afterhours, entering covertly through back doors or with a fake ID. At the age of 18, a move to Chicago led Sfire to a whole other side of dance music history, including the Italo Disco and High Energy sounds of the 1980s. He spent afternoons digging through record store crates, meeting retired DJs and developing his musical palette. Jeffrey’s style is absolutely unique and clearly tied to the roots of his midwest upbringing and he can be found working the floor out with italo, high nrg, chicago house, and everything WBMX. Having held numerous club residencies, he regularly plays in LA, Detroit, Chicago, and New York, consistently offering a finely-tuned selection at clubs like Basement and Nowadays in NY, Panoramabar Berlin, and Hot Mass in Pittsburgh. He also has a hand in producing parties such as Detroit's infamous Movement weekend queer rager, Club Toilet, and collaborating with Justin Cudmore on a new monthly Sunday party at Signal (NY). Jeffrey is also a gifted producer and one half of production projects: Sfire (with Sophie), Looky Looky, and Pushing Movies with releases on labels such as Dark Entries, Cocktail D’Amore Music and Ultramajic, while his mixes have long been prized for their depth and quality and are often featured as RA mix of the day.House on 6, Deep House on 4, Synth-pop on 4 and New Wave on 3. styles on their catalogued releasesReleased on CockTail d'Amore Music (1), HMRecords (1) and The Brvtalist (1); their RA profile also lists Ultramajic. labels on their catalogued releases and on their RA profileRecently at Nowadays, The Chocolate Factory, H0L0 · often with Mike Servito, Justin Cudmore, Sterling Juan Diaz, none of them here that night

JELLYFISH is Ricky Mawzlin and Stephanie Tsong, a DJ duo/collective from Pittsburgh (USA). They welcome dancers to a sweaty dance floor blanketed in neon + fog with sets that morph between italo, house, melodic techno, disco, electro, and beyond. Since 2017 they’ve DJ’d and hosted parties throughout Pittsburgh. They’ve also played cities as NYC, Taipei, Mexico City, San Francisco, Detroit, London, Berlin, and much more. Jellyfish strives to create a (very) queer, FUN atmosphere where ALL are welcome on the dance floor. “Between his own DJing and his work behind Sorry Records, Nick Boyd has become something of a staple of the New York’s club circuit.”
their own biography
the whole biography
Between his own DJing and his work behind Sorry Records, Nick Boyd has become something of a staple of the New York’s club circuit. Behind the boards, he pairs old-school house and techno sounds with a more new-school kitchen-sink mentality. He plays with reverence but without idolatry, paying homage to his favorite scenes without tying himself to them. A hopeless devotee and passionate fixture of the New York City rave underground, Nick is the founder of beloved Brooklyn based DIY label Sorry Records which has been putting out records from a wide variety of stand out folks from the American dance music underground for over in half a decade now. Nick is a long time resident on both The Lot Radio and 8 Ball Radio and has contributed mixes to Honcho Podcast, Rinse FM, and Spontaneous Affinity. He currently runs a monthly Sorry Records residency at Brooklyn techno institution Bossa Nova Civic Club and has played everywhere from Nowadays to North Carolina’s Slingshot Festival, Good Room to beloved Pittsburgh queer rave Jellyfish, FOURTH WORLD to long running Boston-based house music institution Social Studies, as well as made multiple appearances at The Carry Nation’s legendary residency party in NYC. Nick also occasionally writes about music and interviews artists for Love Injection, Crack Magazine, The Fader, and Bolting Bits. ---------------------------------------- Clubs: Nowadays, Bossa Nova Civic Club, ANIMAL, Good Room, Paragon, Mansions, Jupiter Disco, House of Yes, H0L0, Good Life Bar (Boston), The Listening Club (Chicago), Glen Falls House, The Deep End, Good Bar, ... One of New York's hardest working crews, and a bottomless well of support for the city's scene." - Sweat Equity “As the boss of Sorry Records – one of New York’s finest contempo dance labels – Nick Boyd has been giving multiple leg-ups to a fresh wave of producers like Tony G, C Powers, DJ Wawa and Olive T.” – Chal Ravens, The Face “Over the past five years Sorry Records has been both a bedrock and beneficiary of New York City’s fertile scene.” — Gabriel Szatan, Beatportal "A currently indispensable NYC label" - Piotyr Orlov, Dada Strain “Since its foundation in 2015, Sorry Records has become a critical outpost in New York’s dance-music scene. The label balances an unwavering commitment to the city’s dance music history with a dead-serious approach to having a good time. Their best material seems like it could have come out in the ‘90s, were it not for the of-the-moment production techniques and references in the liner notes.” - Michael McKinney, Passion of the WeissTheir RA profile lists Sorry Records.Recently at Bossa Nova Civic Club, The Chocolate Factory, Jupiter Disco · often with Russell E.L.
