the whole biography
Tara loves nightlife, having started out as an event producer and promoter. As a member of Rare Form, she helped originate Donuts are Forever, an annual fundraiser/tribute to J. Dilla, as well as Makossa Brooklyn Cookout, now 10 years strong as a beloved Brooklyn summer hang. Having performed at diverse and unconventional venues around New York City and abroad, Tara is always eager to find new and exciting crowds to spin for. Early on in her career, Tara realized being a DJ is more than just playing a mix of records; it is a matter of building trust between herself and the crowd and sharing the knowledge and love the she has for the music and the feelings it projects onto the listeners. The crowd trusts Tara to become part of another great night in their lives, and she returns that favor by giving them a taste of the familiar as well as something new that may be something they have never realized was needed in their musical memory.Recently at public records, Good Room, Mint Society · often with Niyah West, FLORA, Kilopatrah Jones, none of them here that night

NYC mainstay cry$cross moves through the underground with a sound that’s emotionally charged, rhythmically sharp, and impossible to pin down. Pulling from house, techno, garage, club edits, and diasporic percussion, her sets balance intensity with fluidity, built for locked-in dancers and late-night moments alike. A longtime presence in New York nightlife, CRY$CROSS brings community and experimentation to the center of everything she does, channeling the energy of the city into every blend. Expect deep cuts, high pressure grooves, and a dancefloor that stays moving start to finish.Recently at Paragon, Mi Sabor Cafe, Mood Ring · often with chuki, Kweku Saunderson, Ubabu, none of them here that night
