From Bristol youthclub parties, through the white heat of rave and the founding moments of jungle and drum’n’bass, to transforming underground electronic music into something that could be played by a live band on the biggest arena and festival stages, he has at each stage created completely afresh - not just a sound or style but an entire methodology of how music can be made. And each time, that new creation has reflected his heritage, his surroundings and the precise moment in which he’s operating. 20-years ago, The Mercury Prize win for his ‘New Forms’ album brought D’n’B to the forefront of dance-music news, making even the rest of the industry – where reactions had up until that point been bemused – sit up and pay attention. For several years thereafter Roni and team were on top of the world, succeeding as solo artists as well as a collective, maintaining underground credibility yet receiving Brit awards and even collaborating with some of the biggest names in hip hop. 2016 was a vintage year for Roni. Live shows included Ram Records’ NYE show at O2 Academy Brixton, a headline show at the BBC 6 Music festival and a summer festival season that began at Love Saves the Day with a curated Full Cycle Stage Takeover for Arcadia Afterburner and included Secret Garden Party, Evolution, Glastonbury, Blissfields, NASS, EDC, Dour, Boomtown, Frequency, Lowlands, Creamfields, SW4, Outlook, and many more. Roni relaunched Full Cycle Records with fellow co-founder, DJ Krust, with the releases drawing praise from The Wire, Dummy, UKF, Mista Jam, 6 Music, Gilles Peterson, Radio 1, 1Xtra, DJ Mag and beyond. It was in 2017, as we fully appreciated the legacy that Roni has created for drum’n’bass, that the next chapter began. Roni toured his groundbreaking new audio visual live show, a combined live instrument and hardware show that features state of the art production and 3D effect projection mapping celebrating 20 years of New Forms. Roni took the groundbreaking live show on the road to festivals in the UK and Europe as well as on extensive tours of the US, New Zealand and Australia with no let up as he also DJ’ed at the very best clubs and festivals throughout the globe. The anniversary re-release of New Forms (on Universal and featuring the live set together with brand new remixes, edits and tracks) garnered huge support across digital and print media as well as on radio. With premieres from MixMag and Tsugi, rave reviews and coverage by NME, Fact, DJ Mag, Clash and many others along with multiple plays on BBC Radio 1 and BBC Radio 1 Xtra, Roni cemented his position at the top of the game. The man from Bristol showed no signs of slowing down, as he took to the road with UK and European live tours in 2018 and continued to travel to all corners of the globe to play clubs and festivals including Dirtybird Campout, Noisily, Blue Dot, Output, Creamfields and SW4. Roni finished 2018 with a remix for rising star Paris Green on Get Physical and played shows in Europe, the US, Australia, Asia and Brazil as well as appearing on guest spots across BBC Radio and continuing to contribute to charity projects and support the grass roots scene in his home city of Bristol. 2019 continued on a high. Roni worked on huge collab track “Calling” with Rag n Bone Man, which was selected as the “sound of summer” by Sky Sports and broadcast repeatedly across their channels. Roni appeared on BBC TV as well as regularly on radio and had his music chosen by Virgil Abloh to curate the designer’s Off White runway shows. Meanwhile, Roni played the likes of Printworks, Tomorrowland, Eastern Electrics, Fabric, Untold Festival and countless others. Roni ended 2019 as the face of highly-respected music tech brands Waves and Krotos, recognised for his contribution to the industry and his knowledge and skill as a producer. He continues to be in high demand with the world’s best festivals and events and a run of sold out exclusive headline dates with LTJ Bukem in 2020 has already caught the eye. With brand new Roni music scheduled for February and March ahead of some special announcements coming this year, 2020 looks set to be the best yet...Their RA profile lists V Recordings, Full Cycle and Mansion Sounds.Last at public records in Oct 2024 · often with NIGELTHREETIMES, Jack Dun, Agent 137, none of them here that night
“DIESELBOY – THE DESTROYER!”

DIESELBOY – THE DESTROYER! At a time when headline "DJs" shamelessly play pre-programmed or pre-recorded sets and the masses mindlessly embrace the charade, Dieselboy stands out as a rare veteran of the art and craft of live DJing. His focus on creating complex and unique mixes every performance have created legions of fans around the world. Very few artists mix live on three decks with more precision, intensity or finesse. For over two decades one of the world’s great ambassadors of drum ‘n’ bass and more recently dubstep, Dieselboy, also known as Damian Higgins, is America’s most iconic underground bass music curator and pioneer. He was the first drum ‘n’ bass artist to chart a single on Billboard’s dance chart with “Invid” in 2000, and the first American voted into the UK-based Drum & Bass Arena Top 10 DJs online poll in 2004. He has appeared on magazine covers, been heard on MTV, ESPN and numerous video games, and sponsored by DC Shoes and Pioneer Pro DJ. In 2002 Dieselboy founded Human Imprint, North America’s most prolific, dynamic and innovative drum ‘n’ bass label, and is co-founder of dubstep/electro label SubHuman, both now under the umbrella of Planet Human. Planet Human is beloved by its fans for top quality high energy releases by international vanguard artists including Bare (US), Mark Instinct (Canada), Mayhem (US), Muffler (Finland), Nerd Rage (US), Nightwalker (UK), NumberNin6 (US), Pixel Fist (UK), Subshock (Spain), and Zardonic (Venezuela). Dieselboy’s legacy is one of trailblazing dancefloor devastation non-stop on the international club circuit as well as at major global music festivals including Bonnaroo, Coachella, SXSW, Electric Daisy Carnival, US Virgin Mobile FreeFest, Detroit Electronic Music Festival, Summerfest, Ultra Music Festival, Shambhala (Canada), Global Gathering (UK), Creamfields (Poland), Pirate Station (Russia), Jisan Valley Rock Festival (Korea), and PHAT 09 (New Zealand). He also toured with Moby’s Area2 and played metal concerts with Orgy and Disturbed. Dieselboy’s DJ career began in northwest Pennsylvania DJing high school dances, and progressed as a University of Pittsburgh student learning to beat-match vinyl live on college radio and playing trance, happy hardcore and breaks at house parties. His 1994 mixtape “The Future Sound of Hardcore” led to out of town bookings and his ensuing popularity and skills led to the honor of being the first American asked by a British drum ‘n’ bass label to mix a compilation (“Drum & Bass Selection USA,” 1996). In 1997 Dieselboy moved to Philadelphia becoming drum ‘n’ bass buyer and T-shirt designer for seminal rave culture/record store 611. In 1998 Dieselboy was the first American drum ‘n’ bass DJ to be nominated for Best Drum & Bass DJ at the Global DJ Mix Awards and tied with LTJ Bukem. From 1998 to 2004 Dieselboy hosted North America’s premiere drum ‘n’ bass weekly “Platinum” at Fluid. A passionate connoisseur of food, books and film, Dieselboy has continuously raised the bar for mixtapes and mixed CD compilations as art forms, and each from 1992 to his February 2012 tour de force “Wake The Dead” stands the test of time. State of the art showcases of producers and graphic artists of each respective era, Dieselboy’s mixes have been described as “cinematic” and “intoxicating.” Dieselboy’s goal in creating “Wake The Dead” was “to make the most intricate, layered, nuanced, amazing drum ‘n’ bass mix ever done. Period.” In its dramatic intro (a Dieselboy signature) the narrator describes a soul-crushing epidemic of epic proportions – a thinly veiled reference to the death of the art of DJing – a theme that has resonated amongst his DJ/producer colleagues and fans and beyond. An inspiration for generations of DJs, Dieselboy’s longevity and relevance in a mercurial industry is a tribute to his relentless drive to create “amazing” experiences for his fans in their iPods and at his legendary live shows. Dieselboy fans praise his skills as “genius.” Says The Destroyer: “I don’t fuck around.”Drum n Bass on 85, Dubstep on 5, Jungle on 13 and Electro on 4. styles on their catalogued releasesReleased on Human Imprint Recordings (2), PRSPCT Recordings (1) and mariteaux.somnolescent (1); their RA profile also lists System Recordings. labels on their catalogued releases and on their RA profileRecently at 3 Dollar Bill, The Woodshop, Xanadu · often with Agent 137, Reid Speed, Hambone, none of them here that night
