Snips is the founder of Barbershop Records and co founder of Livin' Proof, a veteran of the UK Hip Hop scene with over 15 years experience as one of Londons most prolific club DJs. Now residing permanently in NYC, Snips is equally comfortable playing alongside Stretch Armstrong, DJ Spinna and Moma as he was UK staples Tim Westwood, Benji B and Shortee Blitz. With 10 years worth of transatlantic production credits across Hip Hop's underground, 2018 saw Snips emerge as a budding solo artist,Releasing a slew of projects on his own label “Barbershop Records” fusing the production styles of Hip Hop, House, Soul, Jazz and Funk in the same fashion he's known for as a DJ. Snips' current production and remix credits range from Nu Jazz artist Kamaal Williams to UK rapper Giggs, showcasinghis ability to comfortably move between such varying sounds. On relocation to NYC Snips left a 5 year residency on Londons Kiss FM and can now be heard presenting his “Barbershop Radio” show on the 2nd Thursday of the month on NYC's Balami Radio. A prolific artist well-known for his relentless work rate, and six year stint as a DJ on BBC Radio 1Xtra, DJ Q’s speedy, characteristic sound first gained notoriety via his 2007 bassline smash hit ‘U Wot’, but it’s his tireless schedule that’s kept him secure in the minds of the record buying public. To date, DJ Q has over one hundred productions and remixes under his belt, his solo album, ‘Ineffable’, was released on Local Action in 2014, the collaborative TQD album, ‘UKG’, dropped in 2017, and his ‘All Night’ album was released earlier this year. Recent tracks ‘Time To Shine’ and ‘Rock Wit You’ with Jack Junior are the latest additions to what’s become an incredible discography, and heading into summer with a benchmark compilation series to his name, Q’s enthusiasm shows no sign of waning. It’s in the live arena that DJ Q’s technical ability and passion for the music really shines through. In autumn 2017 he launched the live project, ‘All Night’, a show that he toured for 9 days straight (totaling more than 50 hours playing time), and during which he dug deep into his archives, spinning a meld of house, garage, bassline, jungle and more. Most of Teesside babies from 88 onwards will have at some point been on the dance music train and some will have been within the involvement of steering it towards its destinations. One such local DJ that has always been there from the mid 90’s and still to this day continues to do so is Milhouse. Playing at parties and promoting them has allowed Mil to be educated in electronic music since an early age and he is well respected for being one of the first people to bring artists such as Nic Fanciulli, Jordan Peak, Martin Dawson, Dan Ghenacia, Jef k and many more to the area as well as the guy whom set up the first ever initial riffraff party and was the first ever riffraff DJ to take to the decks after a chance meeting came about an old school friend with Lee Pennington. Parting ways with riffraff after he helped get it going in its very early stages so that he could follow his own musical path brought Mil on a journey where he would become resident DJ and promoter of “Right On” another monthly dance music party and play alongside some exceptional guests and also found himself on the road to play at super club Sankey’s and help run capture FM radio show. Eight years later and Mil’s road has brought him full circle where him and Lee Pennington once again are reunited and he is a valued and respected member of the riffraff squad. Mils musical style ranges from hip hop right through to house and techno and this is what you hear and witness in his eclectic sets either if he is warming up or playing headline slots he always delivers the goods.
