“Whether via her DJ sets or label Big Saldo’s Chunkers, Sally C has developed one of the most distinctive sonic signatures in electronic music.”
their own biography
the whole biography
Whether via her DJ sets or label Big Saldo’s Chunkers, Sally C has developed one of the most distinctive sonic signatures in electronic music. The Belfast-born, Berlin-based artist traverses the gamut of vintage house, hip house, acid and breakbeat, all with that unmistakable Chunker sound. Sally’s DJing journey begun in 2010 at the Reading Rooms in Dundee, Scotland, an iconic local club, playing host to the likes of DJ Pierre, DJ Sneak and Green Velvet. It was here she met an open-minded and accepting community and gained a crucial education in digging, mixing and all things dance music culture, an experience that would set her up for the rest of her career. These guiding principles of authenticity, community and independence lie at the core of who Sally is as an artist and have defined her brick-by-brick journey since day one. Moving to Berlin in 2015, she etched out a spot in the city’s thriving club scene, throwing parties at Griessmühle and her own open-air raves, all the while building a fanbase for her raw and chunky style. When she was tapped for her debut Boiler Room in 2019 at AVA Festival, it was a noticeable levelling up. No longer a developing talent, RA lauded her as a festival highlight, noting her “musical range and technical acuity”. Up until 2020, Sally had built her name entirely based on her inspired selector skills, but all that changed with the launch of her own independent imprint Big Saldo’s Chunkers. The label is inspired by the golden era of hip house and US house music from ‘88 – ’98, and in particular, artists such as Fast Eddie, Tyree and the late great K-Hand, whose trailblazing music has impacted her so heavily. Joe Muggs writing for The Wire said it best; ‘everything in her tracks is straight from 1888-1992: she samples, chops and loops like Todd Terry, throws in piano riffs like the most shameless of Italians, makes bass tones that bring to mind early Murk, Gat Décor and Together’s “Hardcore Uproar”. And she does it all ‘with a sincerity that shines like a strobe light’. To date original productions such as ‘Let’s Get This’ and ‘Downtown’ (which scored over 30 BBC Radio 1 plays) and ‘All Love’, have established themselves as enduring classics, thanks to Sally’s vision and commitment to crafting tracks that adhere to her three crucial production principles – a chunky bassline, banging drums and a trippy vocal. “That’s the holy trinity! Simplicity is key - less is always more,” says Sally. Other discography highlights include a debut on Bradley Zero’s Rhythm Section with ‘The Way To Do It’, a sublime remix of ascendent Nigerian artist Obongjayar ‘Sugar’ and her playful twist on LB aka LABAT’s ‘Right Now’. A deft selector, Sally can lay down an extended DJ set, a peak time festival slot or a winding closer with equal mastery. This adaptive skill has seen her confirm regular bookings at Panorama Bar and Robert Johnson, right through to Printworks, Melt Festival, Love International, Kala Festival, Awakenings, Warehouse Project, iconic queer party HE.SHE.THEY and Australia’s leading festival, Pitch Music & Arts. Her profile continues to grow in North America, with recent tours taking in gigs at Piknic Électronik, Elsewhere, Smartbar, Flash, Good Room and multiple tours of Mexico. Outside of DJing and production, Sally is a resident at Berlin’s vibrant community radio station Refuge Worldwide. Her monthly show is particularly focused on providing a platform for emerging artists and to date she’s showcased mixes from Lovefoxy, Amaliah, NIKS, Jenny Cara and BASHKKA, alongside established powerhouse Tijana T. https://sallyc.bandcamp.com www.soundcloud.com/sallycberlin www.facebook.com/sallycberlin/ www.instagram.com/sallycberlinTheir RA profile lists Big Saldo's Chunkers, Poumpet Records and Space Dust.Recently at Nowadays, Good Room · often with Roi Perez, Samira, David Elimelech, none of them here that night

Under the Priori moniker, Québecois musician Francis Latreille has established himself as a crucial voice in underground techno. Across a sprawling discography, including two full length albums, several eps, and a host of collaborative projects, Priori builds a hyper-detailed world steeped in science fiction and fantasy, residing somewhere between the biological and the synthetic, the actual and the possible. Priori’s meticulously crafted dance music is full of fractalizing patterns, ear-prickling textures, and crystalline melodies that emerge and flicker in stunning detail; it is evocative, enchanting, and always moving. Priori is also an accomplished mixing engineer who has worked with James K, Bambii, Maara, Ex-terrestrial, Roza Terenzi, D.Tiffany, Regular Fantasy, Ramzi, URA and many more. As one half of NAFF recordings and the Jump Source recording studio, Francis is steadily shaping the course of underground electronic dance music in Canada and abroad. On May 30th, 2024, released his third full length album. Entitled This but More, the record sees Priori sidestepping the club in favor of a more contemplative space, yielding electronic compositions layered with acoustic instrumentation and spectral processing. The album includes a booklet of suggested stories by Devon Hansen and animated visuals by Jack Anderson.Their RA profile lists Clone Records, Echovolt, BAKK, ASL Singles Club and 5 more.Recently at Camp Kennybrook, public records, Under the K Bridge · often with Aurora Halal, Berghain, Jek, none of them here that night

Ayesha is a key player in Brooklyn's dance music scene, and has become one of NYC's most prominent names when it comes to faster, more-bass heavy sounds in New York. Her approach to DJing and production blends elements of America's techno underground with leftfield UK sounds and diasporic influences from her Indian heritage, moving across tempos and rhythms with ease. Her music, hypnotic, pulsating and powerful, is as at home at a deep forest festival as it is a sweaty basement or dark nightclub, made with meticulous sound design, spongy textures and alien melodies. She writes tracks with deliberate consideration for how bodies move—and how music moves bodies—which makes her work unusually tactile and physical. "Beautiful things emerge from our care and consistent attention," she says about her work, which she also calls "body over mind." Everyone else calls it brilliant. She's put out music on Scuffed Recordings and Kindergarten Records, the latter of whom released her debut album, Rhythm is Memory, in 2022. DJ Mag called it "a revelation," Resident Advisor a "fierce mission statement" and Mixmag placed her at number two in its list of the 25 Producers Who Defined 2023. Later this year, she'll make her live set debut at MUTEK Festival in Montreal, hinting at an exciting new chapter for a dynamic force in American dance music.Their RA profile lists Fever AM, Scuffed Recordings, Femme Culture, Control Freak Records and 2 more.Recently at Nowadays, Bossa Nova Civic Club · often with Mor Elian, DJ DEADNAME, Ma Sha, none of them here that night
“As an artist, Batu continually strikes out on his own.”
their own biography
the whole biography
As an artist, Batu continually strikes out on his own. Rightly hailed for his distinctive slant on modernist techno and experimental club music, he’s also prolific beyond the dancefloor. His is a sound marked out by bold shapes and angular expressions, whether strapped to physical rhythms or not. His 2022 debut album Opal took his accomplished sound design into broader spheres of expression, while production work for FKA Twigs saw him approaching pop sensibilities with his non-conformist sonic palette. As well as his production work, Batu’s presence as a DJ on the international club and festival circuit touches on venerated events such as Glastonbury, Dekmantel Festival, Sonar and Unsound. The flexibility in his sound also translates to the intimacy of smaller underground events - an environment which remains inspiring even as he graces some of the biggest stages for electronic music globally. Beyond sonics, his interests expand into visual work too, having produced and directed the video to his own track ‘Solace’ and collaborated on an A/V composition with Harry Butt for his Crack Magazine cover feature - one of multiple cover features he’s been placed on. Taken alongside his music, Batu’s holistic engagement with electronic music culture adds up to a considered spectrum of output and efforts with a shared aim - to push things forward.Their RA profile lists XL Recordings, Hessle Audio, Livity Sound, Timedance and 1 more.Recently at Paragon, public records, Nowadays · often with JASSS, KAVARI, Dj Babatr, none of them here that night
