Martin Schopf, aka Dandy Jack, is a musician and behind-the-scenes organizer in both Chile and Germany. In Santiago he created the Microman club together with Adrian Schopf (DJ Adrian), which apart from being a club, became a nucleus for many electronic events such as Encuentro de la Technocultura. Today he’s the head of Mutek Chile, the southern version of Canada’s famous electronic music festival. As a musician he has released many individual projects such as Dandy Jack and the Cosmic Trousers in 1997, Dandy Jack and the Plastic Woman in 1998 - both on Ratherinteresting - Dandy Jack and the Latin Lava on Perlon, Dandy Jack and the Latin Elvis on Contexterrior. Schopf has also worked in a number of musical partnerships including Sieg über die Sonne with Tobias Fruend, Carabina 30:30 with Luciano, Gon with Uwe Schmidt, Amp with Peter Namlook, Gonzalo Martinez with Jorge Gonzalez, Ric y Martin with Ricardo Villalobos and most recently Dandy Jack and the Junction SM with Sonia Moonear. Jeremy Loucas is a five time Grammy winning mixing & mastering engineer with years spent as a DJ in the underground party scene in NY – Elias Meister, an electronically experimental guitarist with a decade of performance experience in free and improvised music – Emil Bovbjerg is a vocalist, synth instrumentalist and producer/DJ with a background in orchestration and contemporary arranging and composition. Each performance or recording by N/UM is improvised, with no pre-composed songs, no plan or structure agreed upon. Despite the daring premise and unconventional creative approach the raison d’etre and mission statement of N/UM is simple: The opposite of war is a dance floor. N/um translates to medicine or supernatural potent energy. The word is used by the !Kung (formerly Bushmen), an indigenous people of Botswana and Namibia, to describe a healing energy used to cure sickness, both mental and physical, in individuals as well as the community as a whole. N/um is a central part of weekly dancing ceremonies, lasting typically from nightfall into dawn, in which the tribe’s members gather to dance for many hours until dancers enter into varying states of trance. As the trance deepens the n/um builds in the stomach, travels up through the spine and eventually explodes in the brain as the healers reach !Kia, the state in which, according to the tribe’s beliefs, a healer can transfer n/um to those in need of healing as well as to the community where it is said to maintain unity and relieve jealousy, greed and lack of gift giving. Among the !Kung everyone is encouraged to take part in the rituals and over half of the tribe’s members have become healers by the time they reach adulthood. You dance, dance, dance. Topper grew up in Turin (IT) surrounded by substances and tunes typical of a hippie-kind of environment. Jefferson Airplane, Grateful Dead and Pink Floyd were his daily milk. His dad, the "hippie", had a huge influence on him, and introduced his curious kid into the magic world of music and psychedelic culture. That’s the reason why he felt like he was born for music. Right at the beginning of the 3rd millennium he decided to move to Berlin. Since then, Topper is experimenting with his sound, discovering the hidden shapes of electronic and recorded music, meanwhile performing as dj with several Berlin crews (Klangsucht above all) and at several underground parties all around the city. Since 2009 he’s resident with Daniele Papini at Club der Visionäre, hosting the infamous Noisy Glance party. Together with Daniele he joined Sleep is Commercial and became one of the djs/producers on which the label's sound in productions and parties is focused on. He's resident in all Sleep is Commercial parties in Berlin. After his sound engineering studies and some years of deep studio engagement, in 2014 he released his first LP “Down by the River” and a handful of very well received EPs and remixes.
