For as long as she can remember, Annegret Fiedler has created electronic melodies to soundtrack her daydreams. Drawing on her early love for brooding New Wave and Post-Punk, she became Perel, an electronic producer, vocalist and DJ who spent much of the 2010s shaping her sound – and to just praise. As well as being the first German artist to sign to James Murphy’s seminal dance-punk label DFA Records, Perel has performed internationally as a live act and DJ, from the floors of throbbing techno clubs to major city festivals. Growing up in the East German state of Saxony, she learned how to write and produce songs, inspired by Apex Twin, Kraftwerk and The Cure, among others. Later drawn to Berlin and its underground club scene, she took on the persona of Perel, writing, producing and singing on solo material for labels like Running Back, Uncanny Valley, Kompakt and Permanent Vacation. In an ever-evolving club scene with myriad faces, Perel stood out by singing over her DJ sets, bridging the mood of her own live sound with her selections. Perel drifted into the orbit of the heads of DFA Records, who released her debut solo album Hermetica in the spring of 2018. Her sound has a natural kinship with DFA: playful basslines undulate as thumping house and techno synths drive home the message of her hooks and refrains, ghostly vocalizations that speak of romance, dread and power.Their RA profile lists Kompakt, DFA Records, Permanent Vacation, Running Back and 6 more.Recently at BASEMENT, The Chocolate Factory, Elsewhere · often with Gerd Janson, Ksenyeah, Mangui, none of them here that night

Born in West Berlin in the 1970s, the producer has come a long way since first hearing Technotronic’s “Pump Up the Jam” on the radio in 1989, a time when the Berlin Wall was pulverized to the ground and house music reached the city in full force. Growing up on a diet of George Benson and Chic from his American stepfather’s collection, he then entered the quintessential orbit of Hardwax and Tresor in the early ’90s. It was there that he discovered his love of Chicago’s chopped-and-screwed roughness and New York’s groove. The young producer took his influences and transformed them into a template that would come to define his output: he chopped, cut, and reforged loops into his first Soundhack release in 1997, which was met with instant acclaim, as well as his first official Soundstream release in 1999, “Good Soul”. Since then, each new Sound Stream, Soundhack, or Smith ‘N’ Hack record (his singular collaboration with friend and peer Errorsmith) is greeted with anticipation by DJs, producers, and fans around the world. The pace for his output—released every few years in a measured fashion, but always instantly classic—has kept up with the quality of releases, from the timeless “Live Goes On”, “Bass Affairs” and „Love Remedy“ to his recent triple album „Disco Fantasy“. Tightly sampling disco and funk and overlaying them with pummeling kicks, his tracks are always instantly recognizable, dance floor bombs—crossovers as likely to be found in the bags of disco heads as much as house producers. Helming his DJing craft in the old Tresor and Ostgut, few can lay claim to having played at Berghain/Panorama Bar around 200 times since its doors opened in 2004, a residency that has cemented Soundstream’s DJing reputation at home and abroad. A look into his bag reveals lovely disco 12 inches, dirty Chicago house, immortal club classics, and dew-fresh jams—all blended, mixed, and sliced together with style, grace, and his trademark smile. Humble and understated, Soundstream doesn’t cater much to the world of social media hype and vacuous musical trends. Rather, like all great musicians, he lets the music do the talking.Their RA profile lists Sound Stream and Footjob.often with Snow (DE), Berghain, LOLSNAKE, none of them here that night
