Massachusetts born and Brooklyn based artist, producer and audio engineer Sophie Sawaya MacArthur, better known as Swaya, has spent a lifetime exploring the possibilities of storytelling and meaning making through sound. Raised by Brazilian and American parents, she spent her childhood studying violin before becoming disillusioned by the lack of creativity classical studies offered. A graduate of Communications Studies at Concordia University, she spent 5 years in Montreal where she was an active member of the music scene, performing her music at MUTEK, Pop Montreal, Slut Island, Never Apart, Datcha and more. Since she began posting her music online in 2016, Swaya has released 5 EPs and countless tracks, edits and mixes, consistently pushing and reinventing herself with each release. Beyond her personal artistic work Swaya is also an established producer and audio engineer, currently working with Brooklyn producer Tony Seltzer at his studio Seltzer Sounds. Born and raised in New York City to Dominican immigrants, Nix was introduced to music of all cultures at a very young age. From singing in choir in elementary school, being part of a jazz ensemble at Lincoln Center in middle school, and a variety of bands throughout high school, music is all they've known as music has surrounded them during turbulent times in their lives. It wasn't until post-grad, where Nix didn't have a creative outlet to express themselves. Once they picked up their first set of decks... that's when they knew... a monster was born. MANGUMAMI, who Nix has often described as "the voice in my head" and "the Hyde to my Jekyll" is a imp-like demon whose goal is to leave you addicted for more. With infectious rhythms of all genres blending into various melodies, MANGUMAMI captures audiences' ears and body like a siren and doesn't release them until they're done.Recently at Mood Ring · often with CMD+JAZMINE, JFUSE, Petal, none of them here that night
