Khalil is an international DJ, Event Curator, Music Supervisor and Creative. He is a founding member of London’s seminal Hip Hop party Livin’ Proof that ran from 2007 to 2023, and New York’s prestigious BackToLife and Shapes parties, where his musical palette, creative direction and DJ style have proved pivotal in their success. A musically diverse and exciting DJ, his approach has been heavily influenced by the multicultural fabric of London’s nightlife and creative industries. His sets weave through genres from Hip Hop to RnB and Soul, Dancehall to Afrobeats, and through variations of House and Dance music from the UK and around the world, playing between the lines of the expected and unexpected, new and old to create a distinct style and sound of his own. Khalil recently worked as Music Supervisor on Daniel Kaluuya & Kibwe Tavares Netflix feature film The Kitchen (2024). Selecting tracks for scenes, adding insight from a nightlife perspective and creating concepts and ideas as part of the creative process to give the film it’s musical identity. He’s been booked alongside a long list of global acts including Kendrick Lamar, Anderson .Paak, A$AP Rocky, David Rodigan, Questlove and Sampha, as well as celebrity events for Marc Jacobs, Adwoa Aboah, Daniel Kaluuya, FKA Twigs, David Beckham, Giveon, Taraji P Henson, Martha Hunt, and Stormzy. Based in Brooklyn, where he relocated from London, Khalil has remained a highly active and in demand DJ in both cities and internationally. He’s toured across Asia, Europe, the United States and the UK. Played some of the worlds most renowned events, clubs and concert venues, festival bookings in Europe, Dubai, India and the UK, as well as cultural events including Miami Art Basel, NYFW and Paris Fashion Week. A prolific artist well-known for his relentless work rate, and six year stint as a DJ on BBC Radio 1Xtra, DJ Q’s speedy, characteristic sound first gained notoriety via his 2007 bassline smash hit ‘U Wot’, but it’s his tireless schedule that’s kept him secure in the minds of the record buying public. To date, DJ Q has over one hundred productions and remixes under his belt, his solo album, ‘Ineffable’, was released on Local Action in 2014, the collaborative TQD album, ‘UKG’, dropped in 2017, and his ‘All Night’ album was released earlier this year. Recent tracks ‘Time To Shine’ and ‘Rock Wit You’ with Jack Junior are the latest additions to what’s become an incredible discography, and heading into summer with a benchmark compilation series to his name, Q’s enthusiasm shows no sign of waning. It’s in the live arena that DJ Q’s technical ability and passion for the music really shines through. In autumn 2017 he launched the live project, ‘All Night’, a show that he toured for 9 days straight (totaling more than 50 hours playing time), and during which he dug deep into his archives, spinning a meld of house, garage, bassline, jungle and more. He has touched music fans globally securing tours in Europe, Asia with vision to add Australia, New Zealand & N. America in 2019.UK Garage on 76, Bassline on 54, House on 27 and Grime on 20. styles on their catalogued releasesReleased on Local Action (2), Crucast (1) and FabricLive (1); their RA profile also lists fabric Records and Q Recordings. labels on their catalogued releases and on their RA profileLast at Le Bain in Feb · often with DJ Moma, Eli Escobar, WEMI, none of them here that night
