Who they are
“Michel Amato's contribution to electronic music can barely be overstated.”
their own biography
the whole biography
Michel Amato's contribution to electronic music can barely be overstated. As The Hacker, and under different aliases, he has inspired generations of dance music fans and artists. He continues to perform at the very top of his game, constantly evolving and challenging himself with boundary-pushing projects. Coming from the French city of Grenoble, Amato spent his younger years absorbing futuristic Techno sounds from Detroit, bands like Depeche Mode, New Order, Kraftwerk and Front 242, as well as Italo Disco and Acid House. Given the breadth of his influences, it’s no surprise Amato's own discography defies simple definition, covering a wide range of styles in the years since his first release in 1996. Traversing zeitgeists, Amato had a Techno phase, dipped into EBM, sci-fi tinged Electro and New Wave, but is perhaps most famous as a founding father of Electroclash. Peaking at the turn of the millennium, Electroclash fused technoid rhythms with humorous punk and synth-pop sensibilities. Amato met a kindred spirit in Miss Kittin and together they became of one the most iconic duos in electronic music. Her vocals proved the perfect match for his productions, lending them a certain accessibility and new found audience. Kittin's deadpan delivery brought flair to Electroclash hits such as ‘Champagne’ (1998) and ‘Frank Sinatra’ (2000); DJ Hell released the tracks, as well as numerous other Hacker & Kittin productions, on his seminal International Deejay Gigolo imprint. Managing to incorporate elements of popular music without ever sacrificing their authenticity, Amato and Miss Kittin sold hundreds of thousands of records and gained worldwide recognition. In 2004, Amato released his most well-recieved album to date, ‘Rêves Mécaniques’. Largely a solo record, it was a return to the more eerie and edgy, instrumental sound he had pursued in his early years. The album showed that, in the right hands, even this ice-cold, ravy, Acid sound was fit for the charts. The years since wtinessed Amato put out a wide array of his own club mutations, whilst working on remixes, a DVD containing interviews and live footage, mix CDs and his label GoodLife. Today, he is as in-demand as ever. A highly-acclaimed LP, ‘Le Théâtre Des Opérations’, on Dark Entries in 2017 recalled the tough sound of his early works but with more modern production and fresh ideas. The currently thriving, young Electro and EBM underground consider Amato as a master of his craft and many of his older tracks are becoming classics. He has drawn the attention from tastemakers like Helena Hauff, Erol Alkan and Veronica Vasicka for contributions to their labels, released a new collaboration with Miss Kittin and been commissioned to remix both Dave Gahan of Depeche Mode and DJ Hell. In the live and DJ environment, Amato is as revered as he is on record. His set up has taken many forms over the years, largely centred around classic hardware such as the Korg MS 20, the Roland TR 808 and SH 101. His new live project (called ‘Amato’) is a 100% analog, return to his roots that has been presented at venues and festivals such as Dekmantel, Berghain, Nuits Sonores and Off Sonar. It’s a testament to the consistently high quality of Amato’s work and his visionary nature that he remains such a well-respected pillar of electronic music, with his timeless musical innovations continuing to rock dance floors worldwide.Their RA profile lists International DeeJay Gigolo Records, Turbo Recordings, Mental Groove, Different and 6 more.Recently at Paragon, Bossa Nova Civic Club · often with 20h OHM, EXTRA, 23h Tresor, none of them here that night
“Electric is the only way to describe Andi’s sets.”
their own biography
the whole biography
Electric is the only way to describe Andi’s sets. The NYC-based DJ, producer, and SYNTHICIDE label/party boss constructs a dynamic and intoxicating flow that’s always palpable between the walls of the foggy, neon-lit dancefloor. Parts sleaze and sultry, Andi’s aesthetic is body music based, thriving on the delivery of the groove and the bombastic highs of a track’s apex. As a devotee of distinct sounds such as EBM, new beat, Italo, freestyle and housey 90s elements, her sets reflect her deep vinyl collection: diverse, yet focused, and completely one-of-a-kind. Her own productions aim to challenge the expectations within the confines of traditionally masculine dance genres. With bassline-heavy grooves and a conceptual emphasis on storytelling with samples taken from long-forgotten erotic thrillers and seedy sci-fi films, Andi adds a wry yet delicate touch to machine music. As the boss of SYNTHICIDE—the internationally known party, label and event series—Andi has cultivated the dark underground scene for over a decade in Brooklyn. SYNTHICIDE started at the notorious club in Bushwick, Bossa Nova Civic Club, where the party still holds a monthly residency. “THE BARONESS OF SLUDGE & EROTICISM As a dj, L.Sangre has haunted the depths of New York City’s mutant electronic underbelly for over a decade and counting.”

THE BARONESS OF SLUDGE & EROTICISM As a dj, L.Sangre has haunted the depths of New York City’s mutant electronic underbelly for over a decade and counting. Dark industrial roots and a Latin background inform her musical style by fueling her romanticism and inherent passion in the innumerable forms they can take. From selection to execution, her process is intentional and while she’s able to entrance with rhythms that satiate, she equally relishes the opportunity to dip into extremes and out of the listener’s comfort zones, for an ecstatic push & pull. In blending raw, hard, at times abrasive mutant electronic, techno, EBM, wave, & acid and alternating with effortlessly woven melodic elements, she casts spells. Hers is a musical psychological seduction– as she revels digging into the trenches of your soul to compel you to ~Feel~ all spectrums from light to darkest. Early on feature mixes for former renowned “oppositional surrealist happening” and underground party/collective Hugo Ball (Chicago) as well as SF’s HoneySoundSystem introduced her presence to a national/international underground house/techno/electronic scenes, and in later years her seminal “All My Bleeding Passions” mix for L.I.E.S. further showcased her penchant for more abrasive outlier techno & industrial roots. Throughout the years she’s made several appearances on The Lot Radio as well popping up on Rinse France. As NYC based collective Lost Soul Enterprises’ “Resident Witch” she has helped conceive of, book talent, and dj for their parties for the GoodRoom residency over the years in addition to the many warehouse parties of yore. She would independently establish herself as a fixture of NYC nightlife regularly playing GoodRoom,Basement, Output (RIP), Bossa, Nightmoves, as well as repeated West Coast jaunts (LA/SF), Berlin spells and all in between including notable moments for Club Toilet (Detroit), and longstanding Bay Area festival Sunset Campout. A formative and life changing bond with friend/mentor Juan Mendez/aka Silent Servant would eventually result in their collaboration as EBM/techno/electro project Limit-Xperience, the moniker under which they would release 2 EP’s on their own imprint Orden Extática. . Born from a craving to fulfil a missing dark depth to New York, Sangre has recently rebirthed her SHAME! party in tandem with Liz Wendelbo of Xeno & Oaklander. SHAME!’s previous iteration of few offs, having been a collaboration with Pieter Schoolwerth of instrumental NYC cold wave/minimal synth/experimental party Wierd, sets a high bar for a feeling and flame SHAME! attempts to reignite. While SHAME! of today maintains a musical focus on cold wave/minimal synth/experimental/industrial/post punk and the like, this iteration’s mission was conceived as an equal parts vehicle for their visual art and an immersion in/exploration of the senses. At each monthly event the two showcase these cumulative works via projections of their respective films, video collage, and more. RHYTHMIC. BODY.
