    the whole biography
As a long-time events & community organizer, Malzof is also well-known for their public art, projection art/installations and musical output. Sweet Abyss resident Malzof has been DJing for over a decade, playing their own signature style of transgender dance music. As a life-long music collector, their sound archives go deep. Heavily influenced by IDM, Ambient, experimental music, breaks, sampling, and dance music of all kinds, they are not afraid to collage and blend. They see DJing as an extension of all the work they do- to bring people together, to encourage moments of release and joy, and to support people in showing up in their true expressions as resistance against hegemony. You may have heard Malzof play just about everywhere imaginable in Pittsburgh, or in Philly, NYC, DC, Ithaca, Rochester, Montreal, Detroit, throughout California or on your radio waves across the world. Malzof brings their creative vision and multimedia art practice into the ways they share and cast sound. Malzof is a studio artist with BOOM Concepts and is a resident artist and co-founder of the Sweet Abyss event series centering trans/queer electronics and live performance. Malzof is also a resident DJ at Mary's PGH, and has a bimonthly radio show on NARR Radio (Leeds, UK) calling Jamming with Malzof. This show was formerly held through a residency at Half Moon BK Radio. You can find archived episodes of Jamming with Malzof Radio on soundcloud and youtube. Special episodes highlighted a label, musical group or genre from the 80s to early 00s, including Guidance Recordings, Deee-lite, Pieces of a Dream, and Bugz In The Attic/Bitasweet Records. As a huge lover of the radio platform, Malzof has played live sets on internet stations like The Lot Radio (NYC), Refuge Worldwide (Berlin), Mutant Radio (in both Tbilisi + Berlin), Radio Relativa (Madrid), Great Circles (Philly), Lower Grand Radio (Oakland) and regional FM stations across Detroit/Windsor, Columbus, Pittsburgh, Philly & more! Malzof loves to explore weird sonics, sampling, storytelling, community collaboration, and dancing.

“The Godmother of Transgender Dance Music (TDM), 30,000AD is a Chicago raised DJ— or as some like to call her, a “Disc Magician”.”

The Godmother of Transgender Dance Music (TDM), 30,000AD is a Chicago raised DJ— or as some like to call her, a “Disc Magician”. She started her journey exploring electronic instruments at a young age, until she began to learn to collect and mix records over the last decade. As those two disciplines crossed paths, her new practice evolved into an older format, one that blurs the lines between “live set” and “DJ set”. When she isn’t blending the two, she works to conjure the spirit of each into the other, to contribute towards the legacy of dance music’s defiance of definition. ⚧︎

    their own biography

    the whole biography
Barera has been active as a DJ for over 15 years and has been releasing music since 2011. Resident Advisor called him one of the "New York techno scene's hardest-working DJs.” He is the co-founder of JACK DEPT, the techno/acid label with Volvox, co-founder of Supply Records, member of B-Tracks and an internationally touring DJ. He runs his own label called Cross Street Music. With his informed DJ style and insatiable appetite for new and old music of all kinds, Barera has forged a career that has taken him all over. This has included sets at some of the most iconic clubs including Hot Mass, Fabric, Smart Bar, Razzmatazz, Panorama Bar, Tangent Gallery Detroit, Tresor Berlin, Public Works & Space Miami's Floyd. At his core Barera is a club DJ, a diehard music head, and someone who knows how to do a proper set at an open air event. Barera’s productions have appeared on labels including Allergy Season, BOUND NYC, 2MR, Basement Floor, Sorry Records & Dolly. His tracks have been supported by top tier DJs and praised by outlets like Pitchfork and RA. John’s collaborative album with Will Martin, ‘Graceless' was released on Steffi’s Dolly label in 2014 after a successful track on her Panorama Bar mix. Their second album ’Proceed to the Root’ was released on 2MR in September 2017 and a follow up EP for the same label called "Life, the Heavens and Earth" arrived in 2019. In 2020, Barera released his debut self titled solo album on Cross Street Music and his album "Wild Going Forward" was also released there in 2021. In 2022 he dropped the Re-Enforcers EP alongside Paul Morse on Dutch label Patron records. He also dropped a solo 12 inch on NYC's Off Track Recordings and a colab EP on Sorry Records with Brian Abelson. In 2022 he scored his first film, "Marc17 in the House" , it had its first sneak peak screening at a sold out Dancing on the Charles event in his hometown of Boston that July. In 2024 he released his album "Forever Anyway" on Planet 9 Records followed by a remix pack featuring Panooc, True Yorker, Black Cadmium, Love Letters & Chris Patrick Remixes of his music. Support and feedback was huge amongst very respected and well known selectors on both sides of the Atlantic.
