Between his own DJing and his work behind Sorry Records, Nick Boyd has become something of a staple of the New York’s club circuit. Behind the boards, he pairs old-school house and techno sounds with a more new-school kitchen-sink mentality. He plays with reverence but without idolatry, paying homage to his favorite scenes without tying himself to them. A hopeless devotee and passionate fixture of the New York City rave underground, Nick is the founder of beloved Brooklyn based DIY label Sorry Records which has been putting out records from a wide variety of stand out folks from the American dance music underground for over in half a decade now. Nick is a long time resident on both The Lot Radio and 8 Ball Radio and has contributed mixes to Honcho Podcast, Rinse FM, and Spontaneous Affinity. He currently runs a monthly Sorry Records residency at Brooklyn techno institution Bossa Nova Civic Club and has played everywhere from Nowadays to North Carolina’s Slingshot Festival, Good Room to beloved Pittsburgh queer rave Jellyfish, FOURTH WORLD to long running Boston-based house music institution Social Studies, as well as made multiple appearances at The Carry Nation’s legendary residency party in NYC. Nick also occasionally writes about music and interviews artists for Love Injection, Crack Magazine, The Fader, and Bolting Bits. ---------------------------------------- Clubs: Nowadays, Bossa Nova Civic Club, ANIMAL, Good Room, Paragon, Mansions, Jupiter Disco, House of Yes, H0L0, Good Life Bar (Boston), The Listening Club (Chicago), Glen Falls House, The Deep End, Good Bar, ... One of New York's hardest working crews, and a bottomless well of support for the city's scene." - Sweat Equity “As the boss of Sorry Records – one of New York’s finest contempo dance labels – Nick Boyd has been giving multiple leg-ups to a fresh wave of producers like Tony G, C Powers, DJ Wawa and Olive T.” – Chal Ravens, The Face “Over the past five years Sorry Records has been both a bedrock and beneficiary of New York City’s fertile scene.” — Gabriel Szatan, Beatportal "A currently indispensable NYC label" - Piotyr Orlov, Dada Strain “Since its foundation in 2015, Sorry Records has become a critical outpost in New York’s dance-music scene. The label balances an unwavering commitment to the city’s dance music history with a dead-serious approach to having a good time. Their best material seems like it could have come out in the ‘90s, were it not for the of-the-moment production techniques and references in the liner notes.” - Michael McKinney, Passion of the WeissTheir RA profile lists Sorry Records.Recently at Million Goods, Bossa Nova Civic Club, Earthly Delights · often with Russell E.L. Nita is a noted member of the legendary House of Aviance. She started DJing around the turn of the millennium and was a resident at the infamous Mr. Black and Westgay, both touchstones for queer artistry and culture in downtown nightlife of the early 2000's. Will has deep roots in NYC club culture, having worked at The Loft and collaborated closely with David Mancuso, holding residencies at many of the downtown New York clubs over the years including The Limelight, Life and Vandam. After dividing his time between NYC and Paris, working on music with fashion houses such as Issey Miyake, Vivienne Westwood and Yves Saint Laurent, Will returned to DJing dance floors when he co-created SPANK with partners Sean B & Jason Roe. What started as a basement dance party evolved into a roving art-based warehouse party along with a namesake zine. SPANK began to work closely with Horse Meat Disco and the close relationship with that crew has extended in various forms through the years into the present. Currently, Nita and Will perform globally as both individual DJs and, more often, as a duo --they are most recognized for epic extended B2B sets and their wildly successful monthly queer party (also known as The Carry Nation) at Brooklyn's Good Room. Their range is wide and exciting, and in the New York tradition they effortlessly flow through genres and time periods while keeping a modern edge. Since the inception of The Carry Nation, the duo has toured the world extensively including Glastonbury’s Block 9 and Berlin’s Berghain/Panorama Bar among many others. They also have a residency at Ladyfag's flagship monthly Battle Hymn. As producers, their credits include releases and remixes on Get Up Recordings, Classic Music Company, TRIBAL, Nervous, TRAX, Batty Bass, TWIRL, W&O Street Tracks and more. Their latest venture is Major Records, an imprint they co-founded with Justin Cudmore to showcase their Majorettes collaboration with releases that are setting dancefloors alight with a fresh but classic house vibe that stays rooted in the excitement of New York’s history and underground.House on 28, Tech House on 7, Techno on 4 and Deep House on 5. styles on their catalogued releasesReleased on Nervous Records (2) and Cómeme (1); their RA profile also lists Batty Bass Records, HNYTRX, Twirl, Good Company Records and 1 more. labels on their catalogued releases and on their RA profileRecently at The Chocolate Factory, Paragon, Good Room · often with Kim Anh, Mike Servito, S'aint Panic, none of them here that night
