    their own biography

    the whole biography
Whether via her DJ sets or label Big Saldo’s Chunkers, Sally C has developed one of the most distinctive sonic signatures in electronic music. The Belfast-born, Berlin-based artist traverses the gamut of vintage house, hip house, acid and breakbeat, all with that unmistakable Chunker sound. Sally’s DJing journey begun in 2010 at the Reading Rooms in Dundee, Scotland, an iconic local club, playing host to the likes of DJ Pierre, DJ Sneak and Green Velvet. It was here she met an open-minded and accepting community and gained a crucial education in digging, mixing and all things dance music culture, an experience that would set her up for the rest of her career. These guiding principles of authenticity, community and independence lie at the core of who Sally is as an artist and have defined her brick-by-brick journey since day one. Moving to Berlin in 2015, she etched out a spot in the city’s thriving club scene, throwing parties at Griessmühle and her own open-air raves, all the while building a fanbase for her raw and chunky style. When she was tapped for her debut Boiler Room in 2019 at AVA Festival, it was a noticeable levelling up. No longer a developing talent, RA lauded her as a festival highlight, noting her “musical range and technical acuity”. Up until 2020, Sally had built her name entirely based on her inspired selector skills, but all that changed with the launch of her own independent imprint Big Saldo’s Chunkers. The label is inspired by the golden era of hip house and US house music from ‘88 – ’98, and in particular, artists such as Fast Eddie, Tyree and the late great K-Hand, whose trailblazing music has impacted her so heavily. Joe Muggs writing for The Wire said it best; ‘everything in her tracks is straight from 1888-1992: she samples, chops and loops like Todd Terry, throws in piano riffs like the most shameless of Italians, makes bass tones that bring to mind early Murk, Gat Décor and Together’s “Hardcore Uproar”. And she does it all ‘with a sincerity that shines like a strobe light’. To date original productions such as ‘Let’s Get This’ and ‘Downtown’ (which scored over 30 BBC Radio 1 plays) and ‘All Love’, have established themselves as enduring classics, thanks to Sally’s vision and commitment to crafting tracks that adhere to her three crucial production principles – a chunky bassline, banging drums and a trippy vocal. “That’s the holy trinity! Simplicity is key - less is always more,” says Sally. Other discography highlights include a debut on Bradley Zero’s Rhythm Section with ‘The Way To Do It’, a sublime remix of ascendent Nigerian artist Obongjayar ‘Sugar’ and her playful twist on LB aka LABAT’s ‘Right Now’. A deft selector, Sally can lay down an extended DJ set, a peak time festival slot or a winding closer with equal mastery. This adaptive skill has seen her confirm regular bookings at Panorama Bar and Robert Johnson, right through to Printworks, Melt Festival, Love International, Kala Festival, Awakenings, Warehouse Project, iconic queer party HE.SHE.THEY and Australia’s leading festival, Pitch Music & Arts. Her profile continues to grow in North America, with recent tours taking in gigs at Piknic Électronik, Elsewhere, Smartbar, Flash, Good Room and multiple tours of Mexico. Outside of DJing and production, Sally is a resident at Berlin’s vibrant community radio station Refuge Worldwide. Her monthly show is particularly focused on providing a platform for emerging artists and to date she’s showcased mixes from Lovefoxy, Amaliah, NIKS, Jenny Cara and BASHKKA, alongside established powerhouse Tijana T. https://sallyc.bandcamp.com www.soundcloud.com/sallycberlin www.facebook.com/sallycberlin/ www.instagram.com/sallycberlin

“Hailing from Peckham via Leeds, Bradley Zero has steadily become the taste-maker of his generation.”

    their own biography

    the whole biography
Hailing from Peckham via Leeds, Bradley Zero has steadily become the taste-maker of his generation. As founder of the Rhythm Section institution, Bradley has carved out a unique role for himself within the vibrant London scene as Resident Club DJ, Mentor, Broadcaster, venue owner and Label Boss of one of the most exciting imprints today – Rhythm Section International. Having started the Rhythm Section radio show back in 2009, the broadcast naturally translated into a fortnightly dance in 2012at Canavan’s Peckham Pool Club, which quickly became a firm fixture in the London Clubbing scene. Resident Advisor and Dummy described it as ”A party which, in spite of its modest means and ambitions, has been something of an epiphany for me, and for plenty of others too” and “some of the best music in London” respectively. This pioneering work in building the foundations for club culture in Peckham did not go unnoticed and soon Bradley was enlisted as a core programmer and host of the Boiler Room in 2012, when the platform was still in it’s infancy. During the early days of the show, Bradley helped shape Boiler Room into the world conquering institution that it is today, helping steer it in a multitude of musical directions to shine light on the likes of Hiatus Kaiyote, Mood Hut, Beautiful Swimmers, Jan Schulte, Nils Frahm, Jay Daniel and countless other underground heroes whose music had yet to reach a wider audience. In 2014, Bradley’s ears fell upon Al Dobson Jr‘s finely crafted grooves. This led to release of Rye Lane Vol. 1 and the creation his record label Rhythm Section INTL, providing a platform for local and imported musical produce. As 2014 became 2015, RS INTL was nominated for ‘label of the year’ at Gilles Peterson’s worldwide awards and it was around this time that Bradley moved away from regular duties at the BR office in order to devote more time to the ever growing Rhythm Section operation, both at home and on a global scale. The last ten years have seen Rhythm Section INTL release some of the most vital records n electronic music and beyond , helping kick start the careers of AL Dobson Jr, Wallace, Chaos in the CBD and many more along the way. A mainstay on NTS since the stations foundation, Bradley holds down a key slot on the widely influential station and has also simultaneously held 2 residencies on BBC Radio 1. As a dj, Bradley holds down residences in London ( Rhythm Section ) , NYC ( public records) & Ibiza ( circoloco) and tours the globe regularly. From humble beginnings as a resident DJ, Bradley has risen through the ranks making him just as comfortable on the festival main stage as he is in the back room warmup slot. During the pandemic - where many stopped , Bradley doubled down, gaining an MBA and setting up a mentorship scheme, “Future Proof” which is now a nationwide platform funded by the Arts Council with the aim of preparing the next generation of music industry professionals for lasting success. Last but not least, in 2022 Bradley co-founded hi-fi bar & performance space Jumbi in Peckham which has quickly become a South London institution and hub for creativity in the city. Given all the above , many ask “ how does he do it ?” In little over 10 years , Bradley, known affectionate as BZ , has built a small global empire from modest means. The answer is simple : passion, perseverance and people. With a great team, a love for the culture and consistent hard work, BZ is just getting started.

Tom Harris AKA Hidden Spheres first made his mark on the underground circuit with his release ‘The Bloos’ on legendary Motor City label Moods & Grooves. He is however most well-known for his continually repressed and in demand EP ‘Waiting’, the debut release, which graced the top of many end of year lists. Within the same year Hidden Spheres made his debut on Bradley Zero’s Rhythm Section with the EP ‘Well Well’ and reached top 10 spots in dance charts around the globe and 2017 saw Hidden Spheres also make waves with his release ‘It Ain’t Easy’.
