Drawing from over ten years of training as a classical pianist, BEYBLADE SHAWTY’s expansive music curation and selection practice transfigures the confines of genre, incorporating sounds from across the Black diaspora. Especially inspired by vanguard music descended from jazz, funk, and soul, BEYBLADE SHAWTY's evocative, captivating, high-energy sets invite listeners on sonic journeys across spacetimes. Playfully irreverent lyrics, percussive basslines, breakbeats, and four-on-the-floor rhythms enchant audiences, transporting them to new worlds of free movement and self-expression. At once precisely methodical and deeply intuitive, BEYBLADE SHAWTY’s mixing practice is informed by the diverse musical backdrop that accompanied her upbringing. Subverting category, the DJ utilizes techniques spanning hip-hop, club, techno, bass, global house, and beyond, igniting auditory frequencies that co-create affective trust with her audience. BEYBLADE SHAWTY hosts The Baddie Hour, a NYC party series featuring local talent at some of the city’s most beloved venues. After years of unsuccessful searching, the DJ and her friends dreamt of a safe, fun environment in which they could reliably listen (and dance!) to great music. Since she couldn’t find one, she organized one herself. Josh dubman, AKA DJ Fire Aux, is originally from a small town in Wisconsin, but eventually relocated to Chicago and started DJing. After Chicago, he spent a few years living in Hong Kong and DJing throughout all of Asia, including playing gigs in Hong Kong, Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia), Manila (Philippines), Bali and Lombok (Indonesia), and Shenzhen (China) but has now relocated back to Chicago. Additionally, he has shared the stage with artists like the A$AP Mob, Denzel Curry, Madeintyo, Famous Dex, KEY! and Silento and collaborated with brands like Hypebeast and Moncler. While in Hong Kong he created the reoccurring party series Auxidize which turned out to be a big hit both in Hong Kong and back in Chicago. After his second stay in Chicago he relocated to New York where he has continued throwing a monthly Auxidize. Growing up playing piano and cello, his first love outside of classical music was hip hop, but his interest and curiosity in music resulted in him diving deep into lots of different genres and sounds. Because of his travels and worldly experiences, most of his musical selections as a DJ, as well as his original productions are influenced by international club sounds and dance music from all over the globe with an obvious influence from his initial interest in hip hop.Recently at Aftermath NYC, Rebecca's, Café Balearica · often with Jewelz, Gentlethems, BBYGRL, none of them here that night
