Erik’s musical story began with Brazilian percussion as a toddler and has led him to explore music as a multi-instrumentalist and a filmmaker, spending more than 5 years documenting, researching, and playing ancestral music traditions around the world, like remote nomadic Saharan desert tribes and their ritual music, New Orleans brass bands and the roots of Jazz, Afro-Cuban percussion, Andalusian folk music, South Asian oral music traditions and more. For the last three years Erik has been making a feature length music film in Salvador, Brazil, about ancestral memory and rhythm through the perspectives of different masters such as Carlinhos Brown, Afro-Blocos like Ile Aiye, and elder-youth oral transmission in Terreiros of Candomble.
