“Pete Dougherty (aka Moon Boots) was born in Brooklyn and spent his adolescence in the suburbs.”
their own biography
the whole biography
Pete Dougherty (aka Moon Boots) was born in Brooklyn and spent his adolescence in the suburbs. Early formative musical memories include hearing MFSB’s “Love Is The Message” at block parties. Cut to high school years jamming along to Daft Punk in the barn with a blacklight on. After studying classical and jazz composition in college, Pete moved to Chicago, the birthplace of house music. He spent years honing his skills as a remixer and DJ and in late 2011, Moon Boots was born. The alias began taking shape with a series of releases for French Express. The label provided Pete with a platform, and he quickly leveled up his craft while touring around the world and eventually moving back to Brooklyn. The first Moon Boots album, First Landing, arrived in 2017 on Anjunadeep, followed two years later by Bimini Road, and then in 2023 by Ride Away. As with his DJ sets, each album blends elements of house, disco, and R&B with a crate’s worth of musical influences. The three records were widely embraced, amassing over 100 million streams. Moon Boots has played everywhere from dimly lit clubs and warehouse parties to massive festivals. Regardless of the DJ booth's location, his objective remains the same: to keep people dancing, with a smile on their faces.Their RA profile lists Cr2 Records, Anjunadeep, Fool's Gold, Nervous Records and 4 more.Recently at public records, Musica Club NYC, Xanadu · often with Pinto, Tambor y Caña, MPeach, none of them here that night
“2011 was a massive year for Oliver Dollar.”
their own biography
the whole biography
2011 was a massive year for Oliver Dollar. His first #1 Beatport track “Doin’ Ya Thang” was released on Play It Down; Made To Play’s sister label. “Doin’ Ya Thang” remained at the #1 spot for an astounding 5 weeks, and continued to sit in the top ten, selling over 30k downloads to date and topping the Resident Advisor chart. This was followed by another hit “Granulated Soul” which topped the charts at the end of the year. Continuing his success on imprint Play It Down, his release ‘Hoes’ at the beginning of 2013 had heavy rotation in the record bags of Heidi, Nic Fanciulli, DJ Sneak and A Track to name a few. It reached #2 on Beatport’s tech house chart. 2014 has been a huge year for the Berlin-based house staple. He released a remix for the Beatport smash ‘Shake That’ by Marlon Hoffstadt & Dansson, on Pete Tong’s new imprint FFRR alongside Shadow Child, Blonde and Jesse Rose. Collaborations over the past 12 months have been key, releasing with Cajmere on his label Cajual and also being part of his Green Velvet album on Relief Records ‘Dance To My Beat’ which has been a huge success. 2014 has also seen Oliver Dollar reunite with Swiss Jazz House aficionado Jimi Jules for their anticipated debut release on the mighty Defected ‘Pushing On’, out March 24th which stayed at number 1 on the Beatport Top 100 for over 4 weeks. The track peaked at number 15 on the UK Singles Chart and was the second most Shazamed track in Ibiza for 2014. Oliver Dollar and Jimi Jules continue to work together on various projects including a remix of Freaks’ ‘Wake Up’ on Rebirth Records. Now he is working on a Made For The Night Compilation with Jesse Rose, accompanied by a world tour. Also in the mix for Oliver are worldwide parties with Defected, from Ibiza to London across the year, and his debut artist album. “James Juke came to house music far from home.”
their own biography
the whole biography
James Juke came to house music far from home. A year abroad in Buenos Aires at 19 introduced him to clubs for the first time, and in the span of a month, sets from Folamour, Honey Dijon, and Dusky made him understand that this music had infinite flavors and forms, and that understanding them was going to take time. Now based in Brooklyn, Juke has been shaped by the legacy of The Loft, deep house purists and the underground techno scene, all of it filtering into a singular sound. Rooted in disco, soul, and the sampling lineage that connects early house to hip-hop, his sets move through jackin', vocal-driven house and raw, hypnotic tech house. Drawn to DJs like Eris Drew, Octa Octa, and Cinthie as much as the classic house canon, Juke thinks as much like a curator as a DJ. Whether digging for sets or samples, his growing collection of music leans towards tracks you can't easily find on streaming platforms and records that haven't been digitized. Production came later, and in the least glamorous way possible. During the pandemic, Juke downloaded Logic and spent a year teaching himself entirely by ear. No tutorials, no guidance, just samples. Eventually that work found its way to Demuir, who gave him monthly feedback sessions that sharpened what he was building. Releases followed on Nervous, Robsoul, and Rek'd, alongside more experimental work, including A Little Lost, a collab-driven EP that deliberately stepped outside the club context to explore what the music could be. His sets carry the same curiosity. Whether playing a 150-cap room or a main stage, Juke's approach is shaped by a genuine respect for the history he's drawing from: Paradise Garage, Music Box, and The Sound Factory. He's shared lineups with Mike Dunn, Harry Romero, Inland Knights, and Dam Swindle; his music has earned the attention of Disclosure, who have supported his development and given direct feedback on his work. A-Trak released his music and has been a collaborator and subject of his long-running interview podcast, The Juiceboxx. And for his party, The Jukeboxx, he’s hosted NY’s best: Dee Diggs, Kim Anh, Devoye, Cosmo, Lovie, and MomaReady. None of it was planned. It still isn't.
