Born and raised in Brooklyn, New York, @SteenSchmidt is a house and techno DJ, blues rock guitar player, and singer. He has performed in clubs, bars, and toured statewide. He has recorded as a songwriter, guitarist, and singer since he was 13 years young. Along with clubbing since he was 18, Steen is familiar with the NYC underground scene. Years later, he began djing parties and venues around Brooklyn having residencies at Happyfun Hideaway, SILO, Rash, and many more. Steen hosts open decks at SILO for over a year, and also at Happyfun Hideaway for over three years, in which he collaborates with many local DJs to help many beginner DJs get experience or get used to playing live. His party series Debauch has featured artists Frankie Bones, Kush Jones, Concrete Husband, S'aint Panic, Alissa Brianna, SPF50, MZ3, and more in underground venues, SILO, Jupiter Disco, and Earthly Delights. Concrete Husband is a NYC-based producer, DJ, composer, and flutist whose work bridges hypnotic techno, contemporary composition, and surrealist sound design. His forward-thinking dance records Piel and Pelvic Resonance, released on White Owl Records, received critical acclaim, with Document Journal describing his music as “redefining avant-garde composition.” Educated at New England Conservatory, he draws on a deep knowledge of musical history to create emotionally charged sonic narratives that blur the line between the sensual and the uncanny. His DJ sets move through hypnotic grooves and psychological tension. A fixture of the Brooklyn techno scene, he has been seen countless times at BASEMENT, Paragon, and Knockdown Center, as well as at WIRE Festival and Merge. He is a resident of the Mexico City collective Pervert. As a composer and flutist, he merges virtuosic performance with experimental approaches to sound. Integrating live flute into his work, he has developed a singular performance language that led Eartheater to invite him to open her 2024 international tour, alongside a headline debut at Silent Green. His compositions have been presented at Amant, MoMA PS1, Museum of Modern Art, MUNCH, and Palazzo Reale. He has also scored Dion Lee’s Shanghai Fashion Week presentation and contributed flute compositions to the A24 film Beau Is Afraid.
