    “Freddy K: techno activist.”

    their own biography

    the whole biography
Freddy K: techno activist. Since the ‘90s Alessio Armeni has been tireless campaigning from the dancefloor, defending vinyl, championing young talents and reinforcing the scene from the shadows. You will know him best for his marathon DJ sets and deviant selections. You might recognise him as the head of KEY Vinyl, or for the backstage role he played at M_Rec, the label he helped run with best friend Max_M. You should definitely know about Virus, the thing that started it all off for him back in Rome. Lory D and Leo Anibaldi’s The Sound of Rome movement; Luca Cucchetti’s renowned Mad radio shows; warehouses, soundsystems and rave all informed Freddy K’s earliest obsession with techno. He started DJing at Sunday after hour events, having danced all through the night himself. In 1993, aged 21, he launched his now famous Virus radio show, which ran daily from 8PM to midnight, and from midnight to 6AM every Saturday. Parties, a booking agency and record shop soon followed: the Virus movement had arrived. A year later Freddy K signed to the legendary ACV, who released his first EP, Control. Rage Of Age, his debut album came in 1995; a dark and noisy record influenced by his two passions, Chicago acid and rock. It was widely lauded throughout the country and remains a testament to the old Sound of Rome today. After Virus peaked and having toured all over the world with ACV, Freddy K stopped DJing and retreated to the backroom. He spent the early millennial years working with Sandro Nasonte at Rome’s flagship record store, Remix. Together they set up the influential Elettronica Romana label, which released some of Donato Dozzy and Giorgio Gigli's first EPs. He moved to the German capital in 2009, setting up KEY Vinyl as a “techno label for DJs” two years later. Artists like PVS and Héctor Oaks have helped forge the label’s (and Freddy K’s own) traditionalist view on techno. Moving to Berlin reignited Freddy K’s teenage infatuation with rave. He soon fell in with Homopatik, the former monthly gay event at ://about blank. He became notorious for his epic 10, 14 and 16 hour-long sessions there, playing always strictly vinyl and in a dynamic, party conscious fashion. Freddy K sets are characteristically mercurial and 100% tailored for the dance. He plays a “360°-style of techno,” which can include Soft Cell, WestBam or Bronski Beat—when the timing is just right. He played his first Berghain set in 2013; two years later he was closing the place, keeping the energy levels soaring well into Monday. The last 20 minutes, he says, are the most important. So be sure to stick around till the very end.

    “THE GOAL IS NOTHING.”

    their own biography

    the whole biography
THE GOAL IS NOTHING. THE MOVEMENT IS EVERYTHING. Born in the suburbs of Paris and now based in Berlin, Quelza has developed a body of work defined by precision and intent, free from categorisation. His path hasn’t followed scene momentum or passing waves. It unfolds according to its own internal logic — a steady refinement of sound, structure and space. Releases on Dekmantel and Ostgut Ton trace that evolution clearly. Each record carefully engineered: futuristic, grounded, detailed without excess. Tension builds patiently. Rhythms shift and reconfigure. Atmospheres stretch and contract. There is clarity in his music, but never repetition — the framework is solid, the direction always moving forward. Behind the decks, Quelza’s sets don’t rely on genre markers or obvious peaks. He works with pacing, contrast and control — moving between pressure and restraint, density and openness. Rather than chasing reaction, he shapes progression. A regular at institutions such as Berghain, Basement, Fabric and beyond - which reflects something earned over time: trust in his vision and in his ability to hold a room without shortcuts. Quelza’s approach resists short term payoff. The emphasis is on continuity, developing a trajectory that grows with intention over time.
Their RA profile lists Ostgut Ton, Mord, 47, Dekmantel UFO and 1 more.

“Call Super is the primary moniker of Joseph Richmond Seaton, a DJ and musician from London who has carved out his own place in the landscape of electronic music.”

    their own biography

    the whole biography
Call Super is the primary moniker of Joseph Richmond Seaton, a DJ and musician from London who has carved out his own place in the landscape of electronic music. Defined by a meticulous approach to the composition, production, art direction and presentation of his work, every release encapsulates Joseph’s idiosyncratic vision. It is a colourful world that gives life to the shadows and throws a mist over the boundaries that have become so commonplace in electronic music. His record The Present Tense provided the launching point for Houndstooth (the label arm of London’s fabric nightclub). The following two releases, Black Octagons and Depicta/Acephale, cemented his status as one of the brightest new talents to emerge in the current wave of producers disturbing the musical landscape. Next up came Suzi Ecto, his debut album, which was widely regarded as one of the standout long players of 2014. Described by Pitchfork as one of “the most evocative sound worlds that the genre has seen” it featured in many annual polls from WIRE magazine to Resident Advisor, topping those at XLR8R and Juno Plus. Alongside his work as Ondo Fudd for influential label The Trilogy Tapes, his collaboration with Beatrice Dillon for Hessle Audio and two releases for Dekmantel, he has been compared to Ricardo Villalobos, Jon Hassell and Brian Eno. His second LP Arpo arrived in 2017 and was greeted to similar praise to his first, with The Guardian hailing it as “outstanding” and DJ magazine naming it Album of the Year. This all stands alongside Seaton’s revered work as a DJ. His esteemed entry into the Fabric mix CD canon “brought to mind one of Salvador Dali’s famous clock faces—at almost every quarter-hour a tactile shift takes place, where sounds seem to melt away, revealing a strange new psychic space.” [Pitchfork]. This deft ability to craft sets known for their hypnotic intensity and musical breadth has brought him across the world and been recently showcased on BBC Radio 1’s The Essential Mix. His versatility is seen in the range of his schedule, from headline slots at Sónar festival’s 25th anniversary in Barcelona, to his regular appearances at the Golden Pudel, Hamburg’s famous sweatbox and Berlin’s Panorama Bar. He is a natural musical communicator pushing on in his own world, a world that has guided Call Super outwards and upwards.
    Their RA profile lists Incienso.

  • Dee Diggs

“Dee Diggs is a DJ, music producer, and creative multi-hyphenate based in Brooklyn, NY.”

    their own biography

    the whole biography
Dee Diggs is a DJ, music producer, and creative multi-hyphenate based in Brooklyn, NY. She is unapologetically black, queer, and a lifelong student of the tenets of House Music. Every single set by this connoisseur feels like a celebration – a celebration of club culture, of queerness, of community, of house and techno, and of house and techno's Black and Queer American innovators. Her energetic, yet deep approach to DJing has seen this Boston to Brooklyn transplant first garnering attention in the queer party scene of NYC and now lighting up dancefloors all over the world with regular European and international tours. Her aim has always been to contribute & sustain more spaces where marginalized groups are valued and thanked by name for their contributions to humanity. Thank the ORIGINAL Black innovators of House & Techno! Thank you, Disco and Ballroom Queens & Queers and Club Kids alike for the theatrics & fanfare of nightlife as we know it! There are homages to these origins alluded to in all things 'Dee Diggs', from the aesthetics to the sharing of the referential and varied tracks that fill her most noteworthy mixes, to her own original music! She’s known for releasing standout mixes for the likes of Daisychain, Honcho, and Dekmantel over the past couple of years. Her musical adventures spanning all possible genres, the common denominator here is Dee Diggs’ unrivaled taste. Her sound cuts an arch through dance music’s past and present to convey an interesting melding of Dee’s signature sounds: lyrical storied tracks, sensual club edits, soulful realness, sneaky grooves, passionate thumpers, and nostalgic endings. Her eponymous party, House of Diggs debuted in February 2020 to stir and settle the hearts of all the lovers of house, funk, soul, disco, and R&B in Brooklyn, before the COVID-19 pandemic and subsequent club closings curtailed that momentum for 1.5 years. However, 2021, found her making strides again when she resumed curating House of Diggs as a semi-regular event series at Jupiter Disco, a rotary-focused intimate dance floor in Bushwick before her touring DJ schedule ramped up intensely. She currently holds and curates a seasonal DJ residency at a hi-fi nightclub in Gowanus, BK named Public Records. House of Diggs makes an appearance yearly around PRIDE to take over all 3 rooms of Public Records with Queer Imagination and Sonic Pleasure! Diggs' steady rise continues as she steps in to headline many club and festival lineups in 2023 and beyond. The east coast darling bares her soul on these decks — when you hear her, you feel her, and there is no mistaking the beauty and grit of this sound and this feeling!

“Born and raised in Queens, a city dweller and a club kid, Kilopatrah has an innate and superlative gift for transferring energy from the booth to the dance floor—through exciting house, techno, and jungle, and moments that both harken to Sound Factory–era glory days and bring you to sweaty BPMs of the future.”

Born and raised in Queens, a city dweller and a club kid, Kilopatrah has an innate and superlative gift for transferring energy from the booth to the dance floor—through exciting house, techno, and jungle, and moments that both harken to Sound Factory–era glory days and bring you to sweaty BPMs of the future. Their sets are palpably personal: The dance floor has always been a powerful platform for expression for Kilo, once as a freeing and connecting space for a quiet house dancer and now as one for moving others like them. When Kilo gets going, you’ll lose sense of the kick drum versus the beat of your own body against the floor. That’s a gift from them to you, and your percussion is a gift back to them. Kilo brings their energetic sass to a monthly Lot Radio residency and to parties with impressive lineups, playing alongside Todd Terry home in New York, at the legendary Movement weekend Club Toilet in Detroit, and for Boiler Room. Their mixes, for series such as Coloring Lessons, Honcho, and Juanita’s, and for spots on Rinse and Refuge, also capture the club at its most euphoric. You’ll step a little harder with Kilopatrah Jones. Words by Sacha Madadian
