Sterling Juan Diaz has an instinctive feel for groove. Born in New York City & raised between there & the Dominican Republic, he was captivated by the percussive rhythms of hip-hop & latin music from a young age, fostering a diverse musical passion. Once he taught himself to DJ, his eclectic taste & skill quickly gained attention in New York City's queer nightlife, becoming a staple at parties like Nowadays Nonstop, Papi Juice, & BASEMENT’s resident party FIST. Diaz's insatiable appetite for music, discerning taste, & impressive mixing skills have solidified his reputation for delivering electrifying, sets consistently. His innovative, captivating style has earned him spots at festivals such as Honcho Campout, DWELLER, & Wire Festival, & has taken him to parties across the nation, including Atlanta’s Back Room & Washington D.C.’s Flower Factory. Internationally, Diaz has performed at The MECA Art Fair in the Dominican Republic, as well as at Buttons & Sysiphos in Berlin, Germany. In July 2023, Diaz was chosen as an opening DJ for Beyoncé’s New York City show during her record-breaking Renaissance World Tour, joining a distinguished roster of DJs celebrating the album’s tribute to Black queer & trans history. From his curatorial work as a resident DJ of Playground Radio & their annual Block Party to his recurring club night SIMPULSO at Bossa Nova Civic Club, Diaz has established himself as an unmissable voice in Brooklyn's new generation of young selectors. His sets range from chest-rumbling bass wubs to euphoric house keys, showcasing the rich heritage of the underground while exploring the depths of sound through the rhythmic threads of his Dominican roots. Born and raised in Queens, a city dweller and a club kid, Kilopatrah has an innate and superlative gift for transferring energy from the booth to the dance floor—through exciting house, techno, and jungle, and moments that both harken to Sound Factory–era glory days and bring you to sweaty BPMs of the future. Their sets are palpably personal: The dance floor has always been a powerful platform for expression for Kilo, once as a freeing and connecting space for a quiet house dancer and now as one for moving others like them. When Kilo gets going, you’ll lose sense of the kick drum versus the beat of your own body against the floor. That’s a gift from them to you, and your percussion is a gift back to them. Kilo brings their energetic sass to a monthly Lot Radio residency and to parties with impressive lineups, playing alongside Todd Terry home in New York, at the legendary Movement weekend Club Toilet in Detroit, and for Boiler Room. Their mixes, for series such as Coloring Lessons, Honcho, and Juanita’s, and for spots on Rinse and Refuge, also capture the club at its most euphoric. You’ll step a little harder with Kilopatrah Jones. Born in Ohio and raised by New York clubs, Cosmo is a shining modern representative of the city’s Golden Age of DJing, in skill, in spirit, and in sensibility. A forever student of 90s subcultures, Cosmo is now an authority in connecting those dots, decompartmentalizing genres during her sets and revitalizing the club as a much needed space for expression and joy. Cosmo may open a night with her early entry points to dance music, gospel and funk and vocal-heavy RnB, and proceed to blend break beats with new jack swing or old-school house with tribal—all delivered with remarkable clarity of voice and a sense of self that fueled her fated teenage move to New York to DJ over a decade ago. Being from the Midwest, her house music literacy circles its epicenters and favors groovy records, warm basslines, playful vocals, and elating instrumentals that stir the spirit. Her deep knowledge, cultural curiosity, and refreshing authenticity make Cosmo one of New York’s most in-demand DJs, a regular at the most iconic clubs and a Fashion Week party go-to. She is a resident at Public Records, where she can explore every inch of her collection and join forces with legends like Sandy Rivera as well as other torchbearing peers. She’s represented the city sharing the decks with her heroes like Honey Dijon and Mike Dunn, and on esteemed platforms such as Benji B’s BBC Radio 1 show and Luke Solomon’s Classic Music Company show. As a longtime resident at The Lot Radio, Cosmo gets the opportunity to share everything she cherishes and often includes parts of her CD and magazine archives. Music has soundtracked Cosmo’s every move. Her gratitude for her practice is apparent, and her effervescence behind the decks reaches the crowd no matter the size of the room—a musical hug that holds dancers through times good and bad.Recently at Good Room, Gabriela, public records · often with Eli Escobar, Donis, Hidden Spheres, none of them here that night
