their own biography

Sharlese is a Seattle-based DJ and radio host who thrives on the unexpected, crafting elegant dialogues between genres—from electro and EBM to Italo and techno. She has earned a reputation for weaving intricate, emotionally charged sets on dance floors around the world, with appearances at Tresor, Panorama Bar, Nowadays, MÜLL SF, and Grauzone. Her acclaimed DJ mixes for respected platforms such as KIHDI, BITE, and Pi Pi Pi shine a light on darker, often overlooked sonic realms. For the past 18 years, Sharlese has been an integral part of KEXP, where she currently serves as Producer for The Afternoon Show, Programming Education Manager, and host of Mechanical Breakdown—a program dedicated to off-the-cuff, boundary-pushing underground music. She began DJing in 2012 as a resident at Seattle’s industrial wave event, an experience that—along with hosting shows at Electric Tea Garden—laid the foundation for her live event series False Prophet. For nearly a decade, the series has supported both emerging and established artists, including ADULT., Nuovo Testamento, Xeno & Oaklander, Kris Baha, and Spike Hellis. Sharlese also curates Audiodrome, a monthly party held on the second Saturday at the historic Pony in Seattle. The event explores a wide spectrum of styles—Italo, wave, synth, and electro—and has hosted artists such as Franz Scala, Josh Cheon (Dark Entries), and Beau Wanzer. Audiodrome is streamed live via Intergalactic.fm. In addition to her event work, Sharlese holds residencies with the PNW techno collective secondnature, at Massive Club in Seattle’s Capitol Hill, and on Mutant Radio—an independent online radio station and music platform based in Tbilisi, Georgia—further underscoring her dedication to underground music and her unwavering commitment to making bodies dance.Recently at Signal, Good Room, Gabriela · often with Arvin T, Helena Hauff, Saia, none of them here that night

Byron Yeates is a Berlin-based DJ and producer, founder of the party-turned record label Radiant Records, co-founder of La Noche, and a resident at Adonis in London, as well as Power Dance Club and Refuge Worldwide in Berlin. He has served his signature sound at Panorama Bar, Fold, Bassiani, Nowadays, Club Raum, TAG and beyond. Yeates’ sets are inflected with an attitude that can at once be incredibly playful and theatrically sincere; a duality that animates the queer lineage of electronic dance music in which Yeates places himself. Since November 2019, Yeates’ label Radiant Records has released an array of EPs by artists both local and abroad. The catalogue is filled with floor-ready cuts that also reward close listening—the RR sound is rich with unexpected timbres and textures, clever melodic lines, and rhythms pivoting far off the 4/4.Their RA profile lists !K7, High Hoops, Dischi Autunno, Planet Euphorique and 6 more.Recently at Nowadays, BASEMENT · often with Disk Cartel, THC, Carly Zeng, none of them here that night

the whole biography
Lovie's musical discovery began in the digital music age: a young lover of local radio and after-school MTV marathons, her early mixes took shape in the form of burned CDs she made for her friends. After relocating from her hometown of Washington, D.C. to New York in 2020, Lovie's unique selection of soulful, spiritual music swiftly ushered her into New York's local music scene. At the taste-making Brooklyn radio station, Lot Radio, she gave birth to her homey platform, summer school radio. For five years Lovie's radio mixes—now being offered as one of the station's few weekly residencies—have thumbed through the intimate corners of her music collection. She saunters through slow-groove disco, dusty '70s funk and groovy '80s jazz at a studied pace that makes it easy to marvel at every timeless chime, trill, and drum beat. She's as tempted by the bedroom pop of Clairo as much as the cosmic funk of Lonnie Liston Smith. Outside the Lot, Lovie presents summer school radio as soothing listening sessions around Brooklyn, providing warm balms for city fatigue with artists like alt-jazz harpist muva of Earth and New Age legend Laraaji. As co-founder of Soul Connection with long-time friend and collaborator, Honey Bun, she imbues the power of friendship and Black femme empowerment into sumptuous house music and '90s R&B spun with the patience and musicality associated with the East Coast house tradition. Connecting the mind, to the body, to the soul, her club sets inspire the warmest, most community-minded dance floors you'll find in the city. Her diligence to the craft, musical curiosity, and deep focus on the listening experience earned her a spot on Mixmag's Top 25 Breakthrough DJs of 2024. She now holds a coveted residency at Brooklyn club public records, and has played at art centers like MoMA, Brooklyn Academy of Music and The Beacon Theater, where she opened for Kamasi Washington. Her work has also brought her to international gigs at Paris's Djoon, London's Spiritland, and more. Whether playing on her stomping grounds or rocking dance floors overseas, Lovie creates honey-sweet dance floor memories you'll want to replay again and again.Recently at Make Believe, public records, Weeksville Heritage Center · often with Honey Bun, JADALAREIGN, Jenifa Mayanja, none of them here that night

their own biography
the whole biography
Ma Sha is a New York-based producer and DJ who has been active in the scene since 2017 when she co-founded event series - now a NYC staple - Kindergarten. Since then, she established a radio show which alongside the local Kindergarten crew, holds a monthly residency on The Lot Radio, as well as a record label that has won “Best Breakthrough Label” at the 2022 DJ Mag North America Awards. Focusing on cosmic club workouts with wigged-out rhythmic structures, the label “has become an essential outpost for hard-to-define, easy-to-dance-to club music in just two short years” [DJ Mag]; presenting “twisty, rowdy and unpredictable club music rooted in techno from both sides of the Atlantic” [Resident Advisor]. Apart from running Kindergarten Records, Ma Sha is currently focusing on her solo productions to present her take on experimental high-voltage dance music with a debut release coming out soon. However, Ma Sha is not a novice within the realm of production; as she has been active as half of the band Sha Ru who have been on the radar since their debut EP on Sorry Records in 2019, followed by releases on Infinite Machine, Pressure Dome, Progressive Future, Shubzin, Inveterate and of course, Kindergarten Records. Luca Mucci's output as Piezo revels in the hi-def synthetics of sound sculpting, pirouetting through off-kilter frameworks of total dance crud in a remarkable multiplicity of psychedelic variations. Cast from the embers of dubstep’s heyday and its UK bass counterpart experienced from his native home of Milan, he soon relocated to Bristol enjoying a temporary immersive spell in the city’s legendary sound system culture and vibrant alternative music community. Releases on seminal British labels Idle Hands, Swamp81 and Facta & K-Lone's Wisdom Teeth followed, plus a turn for Orson's Version imprint based out of Berlin. Ansia was founded by Piezo in the midst of this, a label acting as his creative appendage for wild dancefloor tools by himself and fellow club deviants characterised by a mischievous attitude and wry humour to both composition and sound design. It is currently 8 releases deep, featuring a mix of various artist compilations and solo turns from Luca himself, including 2023’s ‘Odd Hooks’ EP. Following that, he makes an exciting debut for kindred dance futurists Nervous Horizon with the ‘Cyclic Wavez’ EP. Remixes and V/A contributions inbetween continue a prolific release schedule. 2020 saw the release of Piezo’s debut album ‘Perdu’ on cult Milanese label Hundebiss, run by PAN affiliate STILL. His most substantial work to date, he channelled his myriad of influences into a versatile suite of tracks traversing technoid UK bass, hypnotic 4th-world textures and heavy sound-design. That same year saw Luca become a participant in the SHAPE roster, a Creative Europe-supported platform for innovative music and audiovisual art, while he also separately collaborated with Milanese artist duo Invernomuto on their BlackMed multimedia project. Piezo weighs all of these influences and experiences together with a ferocious appetite for perc-y wrigglers in his celebrated DJ sets and mixes. Applying his limitless ideology to open ended dancefloor narratives, he traverses quite wild bpms and styles with a remarkable flair best exemplified in sets at Terraforma Festival and Nowadays NYC, and mixes for Crack Magazine, Animalia and DjMag.Their RA profile lists Idle Hands, Swamp 81, version, No Corner and 6 more.Recently at Paragon, Nowadays, public records · often with NAP, BADSISTA, Binh, none of them here that night

Ayesha is a key player in Brooklyn's dance music scene, and has become one of NYC's most prominent names when it comes to faster, more-bass heavy sounds in New York. Her approach to DJing and production blends elements of America's techno underground with leftfield UK sounds and diasporic influences from her Indian heritage, moving across tempos and rhythms with ease. Her music, hypnotic, pulsating and powerful, is as at home at a deep forest festival as it is a sweaty basement or dark nightclub, made with meticulous sound design, spongy textures and alien melodies. She writes tracks with deliberate consideration for how bodies move—and how music moves bodies—which makes her work unusually tactile and physical. "Beautiful things emerge from our care and consistent attention," she says about her work, which she also calls "body over mind." Everyone else calls it brilliant. She's put out music on Scuffed Recordings and Kindergarten Records, the latter of whom released her debut album, Rhythm is Memory, in 2022. DJ Mag called it "a revelation," Resident Advisor a "fierce mission statement" and Mixmag placed her at number two in its list of the 25 Producers Who Defined 2023. Later this year, she'll make her live set debut at MUTEK Festival in Montreal, hinting at an exciting new chapter for a dynamic force in American dance music.Their RA profile lists Fever AM, Scuffed Recordings, Femme Culture, Control Freak Records and 2 more.Recently at Nowadays, Bossa Nova Civic Club · often with DJ DEADNAME, livwutang, Säule, none of them here that night

Based in London, a notable UK-flair for genre-fluidity and diagonal rhythms can be found within her psychedelic techno excursions. Sybil’s DJing has taken her across revered events and venues on the global stage. Whilst Sybil’s club sets are often geared for energetic dance floor exhilaration, her numerous mixes are notable for their highly visual narrative arcs. Subtly accelerating and decelerating between disparate BPMs, she stitches together music from a broad palette of textures, contrasting new finds with long forgotten gems to create memorable journeys which are both rewarding and entrancing. Sybil has released singular mixes for platforms such as Monument, Crack Magazine, Patterns of Perception, Dimensions, Ute, INVEINS and Mysteries of the Deep. “Gabrielle Kwarteng’s journey continues to be one of passion, dedication and fate.”

Gabrielle Kwarteng’s journey continues to be one of passion, dedication and fate. Born and raised in New York, Kwarteng has withstood shifting sands in dance music to represent a curatorial presence with a deep knowledge of music history, driven by a dedication to regenerating its culture. In an era of everything at once, Kwarteng is a DJ who weaves stories for the dancefloor that often look to the past, while always focusing on possible futures. In an era of sonic singularities, Kwarteng’s flexibility and curiosity is a virtue; her long-awaited debut at Dekmantel Festival in 2023 resulted in no less than three sets across the weekend, each possessing contrasting energies. Elsewhere London’s iconic Fabric have championed Kwarteng on multiple occasions, programming her into their prestigious 25th birthday celebrations alongside the likes of Ben UFO and Ricardo Villalobos. At Berghain, she has appeared with even greater frequency as part of some of the fabled club’s most crucial parties, including CSD, Silvester, as well as smoothly piloting seven-hour closing sets in Panorama Bar. Such reverberations have reached far beyond the club; FKA twigs extended a personal invite to soundtrack her 2024 Met Gala afterparty. Taking place at The Standard, Kwarteng played just a few blocks uptown from the Soho Grand ballroom, where she had once furtively begun her first DJ residency, less than a decade earlier. The roots of this keen musicality run deep. Born in Brooklyn to Ghanaian parents but raised in the Bronx, Kwarteng’s childhood was soundtracked by a mix of first-wave Highlife, Afrobeat and disco. Outside her own front door, in a thriving neighborhood of diverse American experiences, entire sounds and scenes expanded and exploded as pop-culture began to mutate in new ways, both online and off. Crossing to Manhattan for school, the tempo changed entirely as rock, hip hop and experimental music filled Kwarteng’s ears, accompanying her intense study. Juggling academia with the beat became part of life, and she was later presented with the Mixcloud Online Radio Award for Best Eclectic Show, broadcasting on then burgeoning online radio station, The Lot. An early and completely unexpected acknowledgement of an instinct for music that traversed genre expectations, it laid down the foundations for her later move and return to Europe, and a commitment to trusting her creative instincts. Here, Kwarteng has not only become a fixture in established, open-minded musical spaces everywhere from Berlin, London, Amsterdam and Paris, but is equally called upon to establish the energy of new ventures, such as Horst Club in Belgium. Her resplendent selections have made connections further still, on tour in Australia, South America and soon to include Asia. Listening and dancing to Kwarteng, whether in a cavernous rave hall, a sweat-soaked underground club or amid the temporary pleasures of a festival, is an experience that feels at once familiar but always energizing. Fluidly slipping through a mix of heady 80s and 90s US house, disco interpretations that traverse diaspora and eras, and the futurist pulse of physical, emotive techno, Kwarteng expertly matches the requisite energy of contemporary queer rave culture. This understanding led to an invitation to make a storied Glastonbury festival debut at the legendary Block 9, the deepest pleasure center within the nocturnal NYC Downlow, before returning in 2024 for a back-to-back set with Shanti Celeste, this time on the wider scale of the Silver Hayes stage. Wherever she performs, Kwarteng’s expertise serves to not only continue the championing of Black American genres such as house, techno and disco, but equally, to explore the continuum of global dance music as a whole. Having laid the foundations for a unique musical journey, it’s a level of respect that’s tangible on any dancefloor. In these increasingly sacred spaces, Gabrielle Kwarteng’s personal passion translates into collective ecstasy. “Vladimir Ivkovic is a DJ.”
their own biography
the whole biography
Vladimir Ivkovic is a DJ. He’s more than that of course, but as his essence, Ivkovic is someone with a particularly unique talent for selecting records and weaving them into a larger – and often unusually compelling – narrative. Born and raised in Belgrade, he first dabbled in DJing as a teenager in the mid ’80s, but it was only after leaving Yugoslavia (to study in Germany) and later coming back for a summertime visit that he truly immersed himself in the craft, taking up position behind the decks during a series of impromptu parties at a lakeside restaurant owned by his parents. From there, he spent much of the next two decades honing his skills while throwing events like Selected and Substance that played host to a cross-section of boundary-pushing DJs, long before it was fashionable to do so. Eventually, Ivkovic found his musical and spiritual home at Salon des Amateurs, an unassuming spot in Düsseldorf that’s gradually proven to be wildly influential, giving rise in recent years to otherworldly talents like Lena Willikens, Tolouse Low Trax, Jan Schulte and many others, including Ivkovic himself. With its small size, Salon des Amateurs provided something of an open platform, a place where true music lovers could experience DJs exploring sounds and genres that strayed far from traditional electronic dance music tropes. That same adventurous spirit has found its way into Ivkovic’s curation of Offen Music, a label he launched in 2015. Although the imprint’s output is all but impossible to neatly categorize – experimental Serbian rarities sit alongside ambient excursions and moody synth-pop in the label’s catalogue – the label’s open-minded approach and embrace of off-kilter sounds perfectly encapsulates Ivkovic’s artistic temperament. In recent years, that temperament has increasingly found devoted followers all around the globe. Simply put, Ivkovic has become a staple of the European club circuit; despite his many years in the humble confines of Salon des Amateurs, he’s proven to be just as comfortable at celebrated nightspots like De School (Amsterdam), Berghain (Berlin), Nitsa (Barcelona), Kaiku (Helsinki), Sub Club (Glasgow), Phonox (London), Fold (London), Corsica Studios (London), The White Hotel (Manchester), Mutabor (Moscow), Pacha (Ibiza), Blitz (Munich), Zukunft (Zurich), Concrete (Paris), Lux Fragil (Lisbon), Robert Johnson (Frankfurt), Circoloco (Ibiza) and others too numerous to list. He’s no stranger to touring either, having taken extended DJ trips to Canada (September 2017), Asia (July 2018), Australia (January 2018), Brazil and Colombia (March 2018), USA (2019, April 2022, 2023 and 2024), Brazil (September 2022). Even the festival circuit has come calling, inviting Ivkovic and his inventive rhythms to large-scale events like Primavera Sound, Unsound, World Minimal Music, Houghton, Strange Sounds from Beyond, Dekmantel, Flow, TodaysArt, Robot, Waking Life, Terraforma, Dancity, Positive Education, Elevate, Love International, Dimensions, Kala, Sziget, The Crave, and special gatherings like Convenanza … and that’s just a partial list. Still, despite all of these international adventures, Ivkovic has kept his focus on music, especially the dark and often psychedelic sounds that lurk in its unexplored corners. Each month, he distilled some of that love into Lunatic Love Songs, a much-loved and sonically borderless program on Red Bull Radio. He still does it with his frequent contributions for Noods Radio, Kiosk Radio, Oddity Radio or ROVR to name a few. Whether he’s broadcasting on the radio or piloting the dancefloor, Ivkovic is someone who applies a curatorial mindset and a deep love of music to all of his creative exploits. Yes, he’s a DJ, but he’s so much more than that; he’s a storyteller, a connoisseur and, most importantly, an artist.Experimental on 6, Ambient on 5, New Wave on 3 and Industrial on 3. styles on their catalogued releasesReleased on A Colourful Storm (1), Berceuse Heroique (1) and Fleetway Tapes (1); their RA profile also lists Versatile Records, Offen Music and Above Board. labels on their catalogued releases and on their RA profileRecently at Nowadays, public records, Good Room · often with cotton, Eamon Harkin, Lena Willikens, none of them here that night

“As one of the co-founders of Hessle Audio, Ben UFO has been responsible, alongside Pearson Sound and Pangaea, for some of the most varied and ground breaking releases of recent years.”
their own biography
the whole biography
As one of the co-founders of Hessle Audio, Ben UFO has been responsible, alongside Pearson Sound and Pangaea, for some of the most varied and ground breaking releases of recent years. Having become immersed in the still emerging dubstep scenes in London and Leeds in 2005, his musical taste was shaped primarily by the DMZ and Sub Dub nights taking place in those cities. However, as tastes have shifted and scenes have fragmented, Ben UFO's approach to the music and to Hessle Audio itself has developed. As BPMs have dropped and influences have broadened, so too has the vision of Ben UFO's DJing. He remains one of the few DJs in the UK to have made an impact without a production career to fall back on, and as such his reputation is solely the result of his skill as a selector and as a mixer. As a result he remains in a position to fully explore sounds both old and new, across the worlds of house and garage, dubstep and grime, and further into the past. This level of commitment to the dance music of the last two decades has led to a collection of records which reflects the position London has long held as a city responsible for the constant development of forward thinking music. This is not to say that his focus is primarily on the sounds of the old school, as Ben UFO is looked to as one of the leading figures supporting up and coming producers. He was the first DJ to play material by producers such as Blawan and Joy Orbison, both now scene figureheads, and his weekly slot on London's leading ex-pirate radio station, RinseFM, is considered to be one of the only places to hear the most exclusive new music by both new and established producers. In addition to well received podcasts in magazines and websites as varied as Resident Advisor, XLR8R, Red Bull Music Academy and Fact Magazine, 2011 was the year that Ben UFO entered the world of commercially released mix CDs. His contribution to the respected RinseFM series was widely praised for its coherence despite the breadth of styles showcased, and he was placed #35 in a Resident Advisor readers’ poll to find the years best DJ. It’s a result which reflects Ben UFO’s ability to successfully present unfamiliar, experimental dance music to a diverse variety of audiences worldwide.Their RA profile lists Hessle Audio.Recently at Nowadays, 99 Scott Ave, public records · often with Helena Hauff, Shvili, Emsho, none of them here that night
“<u>Goldie - Autobiography</u> Some people might call what I do drum 'n' bass.”
their own biography
the whole biography
<u>Goldie - Autobiography</u> Some people might call what I do drum 'n' bass. But I'm not going to narrow it down to what the music industry thinks is commercially viable. I'm not really into narrow thinking. Making this music is like poker. You begin with five cards. You don't play poker with two cards. That's just the rule of the game. Once you learn how to play you can bend the rules. I've been in this game for as long as I can remember, seeking out bits of punk rock, pop and reggae when I was still a kid in Walsall. When slap bass days arrived in the mid eighties I started to get into Loose Ends, Change and Maze travelling for funk all-dayers. I even gave Rastafarianism a shot earning myself the nickname Goldielocks, but then the hip-hop scene blew up and you can't spin on your head if you've got locks. So I said see you later to that! Hip hop allowed me to express myself artistically for the first time. Doing graffiti art made me learn how to make something out of nothing, and it got me involved in the music scene. I spent time in New York exhibiting my work and appeared in Africa Bambatta's feature film 'Bombing' as one of Britain's top graffers. That rocked. In '86 I moved out to Miami and started a business selling engraved gold teeth. By 1990 I was on the move again, to London, where something very special was about to kick off... The club was Rage at Heaven. Everyone was just going for it. The adrenaline was pumping around the place. I heard DJs playing a weird hybrid sound, there was still the late rave stuff but here was a new sound, a mad fusion of the old and new. I'd always been the sort of kid who wanted to belong and felt like I'd found a home. In '92 I produced my first track as Ajax Project while I was doing some design and A&R work for 4Heros's Reinforced label. My next tunes Killermuffin and Menance were put out under my early moniker Rufige Kru1 on the Metalheadz label. But at first I was just this deranged kid at Rage with gold teeth shining, this nutter talking a million miles an hour. I remember clutching the cage, watching Fabio or Grooverider take the record I'd made out of the box and put it on the deck and thinking "Fuck, fuck"! By late '92 a darker sound was taking over. By '93, recording as Metalheadz, I had released my darkcore anthem Terminator, lifting the buzz saw synth riff from Joey Beltram's Mentasm alongside the mutating breakbeats that began to characterise darkcore. It was just like rebelling with the music. The darkness was Britain's new urban blues. Dark to me was just a representation of the way people were feeling at the time, there was a recession and the country was in decline. But forward ever backward never, I was in the studio again creating something fresh. My '93 release Angel was one of the first tracks to push what the industry referred to as drum 'n' bass in a more musical direction, with Urban Cookie Collective's Diane Charlemagne providing jazzy vocals. Rage shut down this year with AWOL quickly stepping in to fill the void that it left behind. Meanwhile I was working on my debut album Timeless. For me Timeless was the ultimate statement of drum 'n' bass's technical sophistication and manipulation. Back then I was the first of the drum 'n' bass crew to sign to a major label; London records. To me this made no odds, I didn't care if music was underground or overground; I knew where it came from! Timeless shot straight into the album charts at number seven, which was a first for a drum 'n' bass record. But I don't even know if I'd call it a drum 'n' bass record. I'd prefer to call it inner city ghetto music, because I'm not going to come up with stuff just to match people's perceptions of drum 'n' bass. Inner City Life, one of the albums vocal tracks, became a signature tune at LTJ Bukem's club Speed in 1994. But my style was now far removed from the bark of the Jungle music that I was putting out in my Rage days. By '95 the Metalheadz label was well up and running. Then came the Metalheadz Sunday Sessions at the Blue Note. The atmosphere was just unreal and drum 'n' bass was the music of the moment. In '96 and '97 I collected awards for Timeless, my DJing, the Metalheadz label and my compilation album Platinum Breakz. It was fair to say I'd arrived, but I was by no means burnt out and I was looking for new ways to challenge myself as an artist. In my second album Saturnz Returns the tones and tempos were more varied, the experiments bolder and the tracks definitely more personal. No one could sing about my own misfortunes more than myself. I just wanted to be sincere in my work. Sometimes I think back to when I was a kid staring out of the window going "fucking hell I'm really depressed, I really want to make it". To go from that to now is to go from real extremes and it's quite unbelievable to me. In '99 I played a bad guy in James Bond film 'The World is Not Enough' and also in Guy Ritchie's 'Snatch'. In 2001 I had a part in Eastenders as a Gangster called Angel. It's surreal. But now my focus is getting back on the music while keeping the acting thing going strong. After a two year break the Metalheadz Sunday Sessions has a new home at The Limelight, Shaftsbury Avenue. I'm currently in the studio with Jamie Matrix and J Majik recording my third album Sonic Terrorism. Meanwhile I've got a release out under my old moniker Rufige Kru called Stormtrooper VIP / The Beach on Metalheadz. The stuff I'm putting out as Rufige Kru is more dancefloor than my new album which is more like my older experimental stuff. The new Metalheadz album Platinum Breakz 3 has also just been released. So, Metalheadz has been away for a while, but it isn't dead. We don't need to put out releases every five seconds to prove ourselves. The label is still one of the most respected on the scene. After a decade of doing music it's still all good for me.Their RA profile lists TrustTheDJ, Moonshine, INCredible, Metalheadz and 3 more.Recently at Nowadays, Elsewhere, Paragon · often with Adred, Diverge, Anónima, none of them here that night

"It's D's World, we're just living in it" - Guy reading my iPhone notes on the M Train Longtime dancefloor staple Dan Creahan has been a quiet but vital energy in New York's thriving late-night scene, promoting and running door as energetically as he throws down on the floor. As a producer, he's often sought to explore the range around the center of the floor, working behind a number of pen names that have settled in recent years around around Alien D, a coy reworking of his first name, and the most direct outlet for his productions. Having previously released tapes with Mind Dynamics, a driving, frenetic project that pushed noise sensibilities and an improv-first focus on dance music stylings, Creahan worked through a range of concepts and monikers before releasing his first record as Alien D in 2018. Building sonic worlds around shared concepts and studio workflows, he rarely sits in one place for too long, exploring ever-shifting sonic palettes that have branched out from his initial formula of loose break tracks, tinged with elements of house and dub and into a range of sources, from spaced-out B12 tributes to tracks nodding towards the heyday of West Coast rave and downtempo. Bringing the same energy he's honed as a label head and promoter to his studio practice, the horizon looks bright for this Alien, gleaming out into the depths of space, where new worlds await <3House on 9, Techno on 9, Downtempo on 6 and Experimental on 4. styles on their catalogued releasesReleased on Kulture Galerie (2), Honey Trap (1) and Theory Therapy (1); their RA profile also lists Sweat Equity NYC and Twin System. labels on their catalogued releases and on their RA profileRecently at Good Room, Bar Laika, Earthly Delights · often with No Sir, Andrew Devlin, Yibing, none of them here that night
