Who they are
“Objekt is TJ Hertz, a producer and DJ living in Berlin.”
their own biography
the whole biography
Objekt is TJ Hertz, a producer and DJ living in Berlin. Born in Tokyo to British-American and Filipino parents, Hertz grew up in Belgium and the UK before settling in Berlin in 2009. He first became known for head-turning club records, beginning with the self-released stamped whitelabel 12”s Objekt #1 and #2 in 2011, and following these up with a remix for Radiohead and releases on influential dance music labels such as Hessle Audio. Shocking out to the disassembled dubstep contortions of "Cactus" and “Unglued”, the juddering mindmelt of "Agnes Demise", or IDM headturner “Ganzfeld” became a familiar experience for a generation of clubgoers. Hertz’s club output quickly garnered support from the likes of Aphex Twin and Autechre, and his early successes led to a split EP on Leisure System with Drexciyan electro pioneers Dopplereffekt. (The track in question, “Ganzfeld”, was picked as RA’s #1 track of 2014). The whitelabel Objekt #4, released in 2017, delivered a huge crossover hit in the form of breakbeat house anthem “Theme From Q”. Objekt #5, released in 2022, is his slowest – and perhaps fiercest – 12” to date, exploring dancehall rhythms and sonics with his trademark originality. Meanwhile, Hertz’s albums Flatland (2014) and Cocoon Crush (2018), both released on PAN, delve deep into complex sonic worlds. Hertz approaches the LP format as a canvas on which to paint unique, hyper-detailed works of electronic music which are rich with imagination and surprises. Both albums featured widely on year-end lists, with Pitchfork describing Cocoon Crush as containing “some of the most meticulously arranged compositions that dance music has ever produced”. In 2019, Objekt followed Cocoon Crush with a full-spectrum live A/V show in collaboration with visual artist Ezra Miller, touring a string of key festivals including Unsound, Atonal and Primavera. In parallel, Objekt has built a reputation as one of the must-see DJs of his generation. Selected as Mixmag’s DJ of the Year in 2018, he thrives in festival tents and sweatbox basements alike. His DJing style is equal parts wild and laser-focused, making full use of technique and technology to surprise and entertain, while paying little heed to genre or BPM and feeding off spontaneity and crowd connection. Hertz’s DJing is also unpredictable: one night he might duck and dive through half a dozen genres in pursuit of an unhinged party atmosphere (especially if he’s playing b2b with his dear friend and partner in crime, Call Super). Another night he might guide you by the hand through a terrifying psychedelic wormhole of self-discovery. It’s these qualities that make his recorded sets so beloved – from his 2020 Essential Mix, to the widely-shared recording of his 8-hour set at New York clubbing institution Nowadays in 2021, to his 2016 mix CD for Berlin techno institution Tresor, Kern Vol. 3, which was described by Resident Advisor as “a window into the very essence of DJing”. Hertz's creative activities are unified by his quality control (his output is sporadic, but painstakingly detailed and never less than outstanding) and his agnostic approach to genre (he cuts across traditional divides in both his productions and his DJ sets). His work is informed by a highly technical background: alongside his practice as a producer and DJ he continues to work part-time as an engineer for music software company Native Instruments, where he develops audio and machine learning algorithms as well as instruments and FX. He gave a lecture to the Red Bull Music Academy in 2018.Their RA profile lists Tresor, Hessle Audio, Leisure System, Objekt and 2 more.Recently at Knockdown Center, Nowadays · often with deep creep, fleet.dreams, Curated by, none of them here that night

“GiGi FM is a multidisciplinary artist, DJ, dancer, and music producer whose journey began in the underground squat raves of South London.”

GiGi FM is a multidisciplinary artist, DJ, dancer, and music producer whose journey began in the underground squat raves of South London. Now based in Berlin, GiGi has grown into a dynamic force in electronic music, captivating audiences at iconic stages and festivals worldwide. Whether blending techno, bass, and breaks or creating immersive ambient soundscapes, GiGi FM’s sets are a masterful exploration of versatility and emotional depth, transporting dancefloors into states of ecstasy. Now in her sixth year as a resident on NTS Radio, GiGi FM continues to explore sonic dimensions and share her unique musical palette. Her show is a space for deep inner journeys, weaving emotional storytelling through sound. Over the years, she has hosted esteemed guests such as Donato Dozzy, Voices From the Lake, Jako Jako & Mareena, and Vladimir Ivkovic, with many more to come. Each episode reflects GiGi’s ability to curate a shared space for introspection, transcendence, and collective experience through music. Movement has always been central to GiGi’s creative practice. A professionally trained dancer (Paris Opera & Alvin Ailey), she approaches music production as an extension of the body, often incorporating gestural techniques to create sound. Her 2022 EP Magnetite on Bambounou’s Bambe label was crafted using a MYO motion sensor, where arm gestures layered sounds in real time, embodying the interplay between physicality and sonic expression. This innovative approach flows into her self-released series, Kiwi Synthesis Diary, beginning with Vol. 1 in 2021, a deeply personal project born from using Ableton as a journal. Its successor, Kiwi Synthesis Diary Vol. 2 (2023), marked the launch of her own label, Sea~rène, a platform for euphoric, boundary-pushing soundscapes. Her most recent release, Movimiento (2024), expands on this narrative. The EP celebrates the transformative energy of dance, blending vibrant club rhythms with introspective sound design. It’s a body of work that encapsulates GiGi’s ethos: to create music that moves both body and mind. Deeply influenced by astrology, philosophy, and the cosmos, GiGi FM’s artistry bridges sound, movement, and metaphysics. In addition to her DJ sets and productions, she is developing a live ambient project linking meditation, reflection, her own poetry, and productions to craft deeply immersive experiences. Whether on the dancefloor or in moments of stillness, GiGi’s work invites audiences to connect with themselves and the universe around them. In 2025, GiGi FM continues to tour globally, including her first Australia tour and an extensive US tour, while releasing new music and curating innovative projects. Ever-evolving, she remains dedicated to crafting music and experiences that inspire reflection, transcendence, and joy.Their RA profile lists Bambe and Sea~rène.Recently at BASEMENT, Good Room, Camp Kennybrook · often with Berghain, Altinbas, Efdemin, none of them here that night

“Aaron J has been quietly reimagining the deeper currents of dance music for over a decade.”
their own biography
the whole biography
Aaron J has been quietly reimagining the deeper currents of dance music for over a decade. The seasoned DJ has cultivated his own milieu of lucid, empathic sound both through his renowned work as a selector and as curator of the record label, podcast, and event series Sure Thing. Currently based in Brooklyn, Aaron has been a pillar of scenes throughout the US including Boston, LA, the Pacific Northwest, and San Francisco, where Sure Thing was founded. He draws from these experiences across the continent to develop his distinct sound, synthesizing an expansive set of environments and sonic sensibilities into a new whole. He grounds the rhythmic language of bass and dub in the personal and ancient, beguiling listeners into states of hypnosis through tracks marked by intricate sound design and a delicate romanticism. Aaron’s expert control of narrative is particularly showcased in his longform sets, where he challenges listeners into unfamiliar places of feeling and movement while holding just enough space for them to do so. Aaron’s masterful sense of pacing and his emotional acuity as a DJ are inextricably linked, as evidenced by highlight performances at Sustain-Release and Monument Festival and a nod from Resident Advisor as one of techno’s “best kept secrets.” Feeling is at the core of his work, expressed and explored through endless variation of texture and rhythm. Sets move through distinct passages distinguished by hazy boundaries. Tracks are layered atop one another, with a constant consideration to balance, between energy and restraint, momentum and introspection, turbulence and relief. The flow of time becomes obscured in a phantom forest of sonic patterns that push at the edges of perception, acting as a foil for one’s own latent feelings to unfurl. Beyond the boundaries of tempo or genre, Aaron brings listeners fully into their senses by tying together subtle threads of emotion, with the poise of a DJ who can at once witness past, present, and future affective states of the dance floors he guides.
