"Doula is known for her unpredictable range and sound collage approach to DJing with an unyielding vision of dance music as a source of tantric mayhem. She crafts intense, psychedelic, often crazy-making sets that disregard expectations of genre, functionality, tempo, cadence, or respectability. Historically labelled: 'Disgusting' , 'Relentless' , 'Iconoclast' , 'Tea'... "

Oakland’s Lil Zé (@aquanettalashangelaboo) arrived from space bringing along with them sounds from across the universe and the African and Black diaspora. Heavy drums, vocal chants, loud energy, are both the destination and the journey - making it impossible not to move to her genre-defying music history lessons. Catch her mixing on Lower Grand Radio, Fault Radio or listen back to her mixes for NTS, Dublab, Cult Classic, Balamii Radio.

Funkin Donut’s vinyl sets bring global sounds together, blending '70s funk, samba-rock, disco, afro-beat, '80s boogie, '90s hip hop, favela funk and R&B, to find a common groove that makes for a dynamic and light dancefloor experience. He’s played at NYC vinyl spots like Studio 151, Nightclub 101, Tadpole, Hi-Note Radio, Doris, and is part of the monthly global dance party series Of The Sun. Erik’s musical story began with Brazilian percussion as a toddler and has led him to explore music as a multi-instrumentalist and a filmmaker, spending more than 5 years documenting, researching, and playing ancestral music traditions around the world, like remote nomadic Saharan desert tribes and their ritual music, New Orleans brass bands and the roots of Jazz, Afro-Cuban percussion, Andalusian folk music, South Asian oral music traditions and more. For the last three years Erik has been making a feature length music film in Salvador, Brazil, about ancestral memory and rhythm through the perspectives of different masters such as Carlinhos Brown, Afro-Blocos like Ile Aiye, and elder-youth oral transmission in Terreiros of Candomble. At the core of his ongoing projects, research, and DJing is a longing to find and demonstrate a common universal groove.
