the whole biography
Krithi is a Chennai-born, Brooklyn-based music producer, DJ, and music tech educator. With a distinct sonic signature marked by percussive intricacies and genre-blending innovation, Krithi has carved a unique space for herself in the contemporary music landscape. With roots in Jazz and Carnatic vocals, Krithi took an unexpected yet exciting turn in 2020 to create instrumental-only percussive rich music that provides a rhythmic escapade to captivate listeners. The boundaries between genres blur, and her beats tell stories of cultural intersections and sonic experimentation. Her self-released projects include “Padapadappu,” “Nilap-parappu” and “Uyirudan,” while she has also contributed to compilation projects by the newly launched label Bubblin’ (BB001) and UK-based collective Daytimers (DT001). When she's not cooking up beats, she works for Building Beats and We Make Noise NYC (fka Beats by Girlz NYC), two US-based organizations dedicated to making music technology more accessible for marginalized communities. She has also launched her own teaching project “kuttiBEATS” (“kutti” means child or little one in Tamil)—an online platform that allows kids and young adults to tap into their experience as digital natives and express their creativity through music tech.Recently at Mood Ring, The Sultan Room, Elsewhere · often with Sana, MIRCHI, Mojamid, none of them here that night

“Spending years playing shows as an indie-dance band, Jacob and James have since shifted their focus to the DAW and the club.”

the whole biography
Spending years playing shows as an indie-dance band, Jacob and James have since shifted their focus to the DAW and the club. In their productions and DJ sets, they strive to maintain the organic elements of their live show, which continues to connect them with audiences. Jacob and James met during the pandemic and formed an instant musical connection playing shows around NYC. Both multi-instrumentalists, new musical ideas flow freely. Dance beats and slick grooves glossed over lyrics that invoked trauma and pain; their songs might have made you cry or dance, but hopefully both. Jacob and James took this same approach when shifting to electronic production and DJ sets. Fusing punk, house, and funk elements with indie rock songwriting sensibilities and hooks, Talk Shivi are stoked to bring their new releases to clubs and stages. Their DJ sets are always fresh, keeping audiences on their toes, whether for an hour set or a marathon. In August 2023, Talk Shivi also started the Party Right Here event series, one of the first DIY raves to take place in their home turf of Astoria, Queens. Party Right Here, Vol. 6 (Halloween Edit) is slated for October 25th, 2024. Talk Shivi are also stoked to release their first official remix of Lolux's "Happy," on November 4th, 2024.Recently at Porta 23, Rash, Culture Lab LIC · often with ellie, rouge, I's, none of them here that night

Saphe is a Syrian, New York-based DJ and curator and co-founder of Laylit, a monthly dance party and platform that brings together DJ sets and live instruments by artists from the MENA region and its diaspora. Approaching the dancefloor as a space of experimentation through which new forms of Arabic dance music can emerge, Saphe’s sets consist of highly percussive bass music, engaging with a variety of styles and practices from breakbeats, jungle & D&B, breaky techno, and his signature Arabic electronic beats. Saphe’s exploration of rhythm also extends to different media and formats for thinking and making, namely writing, fieldwork, and audiovisual arts.Recently at Elsewhere, Mood Ring, Nowadays · often with Arianna Danae, Fatin, saHHar, none of them here that night
