A devotee of the late-night-into-early-morning-into-late-afternoon party, Kristen gravitates toward genre-expansive DJs who take their dancers on long, world-bending journeys through all shades of music (not just electronic). Outside of DJing, Kristen is deeply immersed in NYC’s live music scene, a passion that heavily informs her sets. While her selections are steeped in traditional and modern jazz influences, she loves to weave in elements of commercial/hyperpop, future garage, funk, and classic house—building her sets more around “vibes” than around certain genres. If she’s not behind the decks, she will 100% be dancing. This was, in part, the inspiration behind co-founding Dancing in Socks with Szobi—a bi-monthly party series and online community built around getting back building communities through dancefloors.

Born in Long Island, NY and based in Jersey City, NJ Shawna Solaris channels the radiant energy of the sun into her electrifying Afro House sets. Her name reflects this solar inspiration, symbolizing warmth, power, and connection. Shawna's journey with Afro House began during her travels through South Africa, where she fell in love with the hypnotic rhythms of African electronic music. Inspired by this experience, she has cultivated a signature sound that fuses South African-influenced beats with rich electronic textures, while drawing from the soulful melodies of old-school neo-soul music, a sound she grew up with thanks to her father's influence. The result is an immersive sonic experience that transcends the ordinary. Behind the decks, Shawna Solaris guides listeners on rhythmic journeys designed to move both the body and the soul. Her mission is simple yet powerful: to transport people out of their minds and into their bodies through the transformative power of music. When she's not behind the decks, Shawna enjoys traveling, hiking, and exploring the world of wellness and herbalism, pursuits that continue to inspire her creative flow and connection to sound.
