The singular brand of house music that Taylor Freels produces as Liquid Earth is uniquely transatlantic, infusing the rhythmic sensibilities of London and Berlin with the sun-soaked serenity of his native California. Part '80s sleaze, part '90s deepness, part '00s wiggle, Freels makes dance music cocktails that pop like a twist of lime hitting seltzer. Melodic, crisp, and always refreshing, each track by the California-native is singularly recognizable as he refashions vintage sounds for the clubs of tomorrow. Under his most recent alias, Liquid Earth, Freels has been pushing, as Resident Advisor put it, "tech house with a twist." His state-of-the-art analog grooves emerged from the ether fully formed in 2019 with some of the deepest basslines and crunchiest melodies out there. Freels' squigly take on contemporary house and techno always comes primed with a dose of California sunshine. Born and rooted in the NYC underground, Amy is a producer, DJ, and sound engineer shaped by her music composition studies at Berklee College of Music, a background that guides her ever evolving sound. Her music moves between intention and play, drifting through house, minimal, electro, deep, dub techno, and bent shades of jazz. Her artistic vision has been shaped by more than a decade of study, digging, producing, mixing, mastering, and living within the underground culture of New York City. She first stepped into the world of production and mixing records at the age of 15 through an internship at a NYC DJ and music production school, where long afternoons in the studio and trips to Halcyon and A1 Records opened the door to a deeper musical world. Her early mentors introduced her to the discipline behind the craft and helped refine her approach to sound. At the age of 17, she began performing at venues that helped shape Brooklyn’s underground dance music scene, such as TBA Brooklyn and Output. Her technical training later grew at SAE Institute NYC, where she explored recording, mixing, and mastering. She continues to explore the layers of her musical curiosity, shaping them into a sound that remains both intricate and personal. She has appeared alongside artists who inspire her, such as Priku, Sepp, Chklte, Cristian AB, Giammarco Orsini, O.bee, Tomas Station, Sweely, DJ W!LD, Acid Pauli, Guy J, Tinlicker, Liquid Earth, & more. His journey into sound began while studying Film and Cinematography, where a sound design course sparked a deeper fascination with audio and music creation. That experience led him to immerse himself in sound design and scoring, creating original work for a wide range of visual projects including films, fashion editorials, and commercial productions. Through this process, Hovy collaborated with artists and creatives at all levels worldwide, shaping a detailed and cinematic approach to sound that continues to influence his music today. Hovy’s sets are the perfect blend of class, merging his South American roots with his New York City upbringing, which is steeped in r&b, hip hop, jazz funk, house, and techno. His sound defies expectations, merging global electronic influences into something fresh, refined, and sophisticated all at once.
