Brendan M Gillen is the founder of cult label Interdimensional Transmissions, central figure in Ectomorph, and legendary DJ and live act under his moniker BMG. His 25 year musical vision and near encyclopedic musical knowledge have led him to be one of the key figures and visionaries in contemporary dance music. His parties (most famously but not limited to No Way Back) are the greatest contemporary manifestation of the Detroit party continuum that reaches back to the parties of Plastikman, the Music Institute, Voom, and beyond. A master weaver of true psychedelic musical tapestry, BMG has a way of making the strange familiar and the familiar strange. Expect the unexpected.Their RA profile lists Interdimensional Transmissions and Eye Teeth.Recently at The Chocolate Factory, Nowadays · often with Patrick Russell, Derek Plaslaiko, Erika, none of them here that night

Raised in Wheeling, West Virginia, SYTHRA’s relationship with music began when he discovered a 1982 KORG Polysix synthesizer hidden away in his family attic. The son of a Pentecostal pastor, he grew up immersed in the ecstatic power of collective worship, where music served as a gateway to transcendence, emotional release, and altered states of consciousness. Alongside 13 years of violin study, choir, and musical theater, these early experiences sparked a lifelong fascination with the transformative potential of sound. After earning a BFA in Acting from West Virginia University, SYTHRA moved to New York City in 2011 to pursue acting and improv comedy. During this period he produced three seasons of his comedy series Tough Love while continuing a parallel exploration of spirituality, studying traditions ranging from Hinduism and Buddhism to pagan practices. Through chanting, somatic movement, ritual, and rhythm, he developed a deep understanding of trance as both a personal and collective experience. The flow states he once found on stage gradually revealed themselves in new forms through music and dance. In 2023, SYTHRA’s entry into Brooklyn’s queer underground dance scene brought all these worlds together. Discovering a space where spirituality, theater, community, and music coexist, SYTHRA began translating decades of artistic and spiritual exploration into DJing and event production. Through projects including SUBLIMINA, DEEPER, and Hyperlink, he has cultivated experiences designed to move both body and spirit. His sets weave together dub, tribal percussion, hypnotic techno, and weird, psychedelic strains of house music, treating the dance floor as a vehicle for transformation, an invitation to journey inward, connect more deeply with oneself, and emerge changed.often with Will Jack, none of them here that night
