Musician and writer, Spurge deejays in a fashion that is often dialectical in nature - weaving opposing elements together to construct a singular, political experience - honoring the practice of storytelling through selection while enjoying the sport-like aspects of DJing too. His chameleonic perspective to mixing shirks genre, freeing Spurge to jump from dancehall to techno to rock to electro, disco, house, ambient to whatever’s clever. Spurge’s musical knowledge is bolstered by a decade in the New York nightlife community, showcased through his playing history - Good Room, Bossa Nova Civic Club, Mansions, Nowadays - and the projects he’s been involved in: The Lot Radio, Sustain-Release, Captured Tracks Record Shop, Resident Advisor. Over the past decade, the New York-based artist has quietly amassed a loyal following through expansive DJ sets that defy genre & style - a testament to his deep crates and skilled mixing. Originally from Singapore, Marco co-runs the Darker Than Wax record label & is a weekly resident on The Lot Radio in Brooklyn. Coming out of a busy 2024, with mixes / features on Resident Advisor (“a true digger’s delight”), DJ Mag and XLR8R (“a mix that’ll suck you in wherever you are”), he’s hit a stride with appearances across the US / Europe and Asia at clubs and parties like Nowadays (NYC), Public Records (NYC), Wonderfruit Festival (Thailand), Dimensions Festival (Croatia), Rhythm Section (London), Potato Head (Bali).
