Who they are
“In a genre seemingly obsessed with revisiting the past, Âme look firmly to the future of dance music.”

In a genre seemingly obsessed with revisiting the past, Âme look firmly to the future of dance music. Driven toward continual evolution since they started making tracks in 2001, the German duo of Frank Wiedemann and Kristian Beyer have challenged club-goers’ expectations with their conceptually driven and uniquely visceral music. Now over 15 years into their career together, their deep understanding of the clubbing landscape and each other’s strengths allows Âme to stay innovative and relevant in a swiftly paced genre. And as primary partners of the Innervisions label/collective with Dixon, the pair continue to foster the future of house with carefully selected releases, all-encompassing live events, and even their own boutique shop that solidifies the connection between the artists and their admirers. Wiedemann and Beyer first crossed paths in 2000 at the latter's record shop, Plattentasche, in their hometown of Karlsruhe. Bonding over Chicago house, Detroit techno and much else besides, the duo began producing seminal releases for Sonar Kollektiv in 2003. Eager to not repeat themselves, Âme shattered their established sound in favor of a nimble, compositional approach that birthed their club-conquering single, "Rej", and introduced them on the world stage. One could understand if Âme had just pursued the sound that brought them such acclaim. Yet the pair have never rested on their laurels, continuously folding experimental sounds and their deconstructed take on classical composition into singles and remixes built for delighting dancers. From the waltzing proto-techno of "Fiori" to ruminating deep house cut “Rrose Selavy”, they’ve made music for the mind and body with each release. Âme are also known for crafting emotional anthems, strumming at your heartstrings with their cinematic single “Tatischeff” and their glowing and nearly ubiquitous remix of “Howling”. The pair will further expand their sound on their long-awaited debut album. Âme are just as multifaceted when translated to the live arena: What you’ll hear depends on which configuration of Âme is in your city that night. Kristian is the veteran globe-trotting DJ, while Frank, more a creature of the studio, performs dynamic live sets and these days covers just as many miles. Recently the duo have intertwined their DJ and live sets as Âme II Âme, dissolving the boundaries between these formats to deliver peerless experiences that make the most of their respective abilities. Together and apart they frequent the booths and stages of the world’s top clubs and festivals, carrying the Âme sound far and wide. As the core of Innervisions alongside Dixon, the duo translate their forward-thinking approach across the collective’s various arms. The imprint is known for its rigorous quality control, releasing only a handful of records per year, each encased in sumptuous packaging featuring collaborations with established visual artists. Beyer and Dixon provide the label's A&R direction, inviting select musicians – such as veterans like Laurent Garnier, Agoria, and Marc Houle and rising stars Recondite, Rampa, and Trikk – to accompany family members Henrik Schwarz, Marcus Worgull, Tokyo Black Star, and Culoe De Song. Innervisions even handles its own physical and digital distribution, forgoing traditional channels and the pitfalls accompanying them. The group stays connected with their large fanbase with their online/brick-and-mortar shop, MTN Muting The Noise, whose tightly curated offerings of records, clothes, and other items provides the fullest expression of the Innervision aesthetic. They even take their particular perspective on the road, through both their own Temporary Secretary booking agency and their immersive Lost In A Moment parties thrown in unexpected settings. Refusing to step back from the leading-edge or compromise on their exacting standards, Âme remain at the forefront of electronic music.Their RA profile lists Ostgut Ton, Innervisions and Life and Death.Recently at Brooklyn Storehouse, Knockdown Center, Hearsay · often with Berghain, Julya Karma, Trikk, none of them here that night

Founder and A&R of Life and Death, Manfredi Romano grew up tour-managing punk bands and organising left-field music events in Italy around the turn of the Millennium. Having completed his studies in computer science at the University of Pisa, Manfredi went on to form DAZE, Italy’s first booking agency solely devoted to electronic music. Drawing on two decades of experience behind the scenes, Romano shifted focus in 2010, establishing himself as a DJ in his own right. As a performer, Tennis valiantly showcases an astute ability to create intimacy in even the vastest of gatherings. As a respected producer, Romano consistently channels his past relationships with post-rock luminaries such as Godspeed You! Black Emperor, Tortoise and Fugazi into intricately-synthesised electronic constellations. Known for his Artist Management capabilities is responsible for breaking artists like Tale of Us, Mind Against and Carlita. Fine chef and restaurant owner, Tennis splits his time between Paris and Miami, where he enjoys riding motorbikes, collecting vintage action-figures and building upon his vinyl record collection - which now numbers over eleven-thousand strong. https://www.facebook.com/tennisdj https://twitter.com/dj_tennis https://soundcloud.com/djtennisdjtennisTheir RA profile lists DFA Records, Margot Records, Life and Death, Secretly Canadian and 3 more.Recently at Brooklyn Storehouse, public records, Knockdown Center · often with Indira Paganotto, Sven Vath, Maceo Plex, none of them here that night

Jimi Jules is an international multi-Instrumentalist and producer, dedicating his successful career and education to the house and techno scene. Devoted to club culture having played over the world for 20 years, Jimi Jules is currently signed to renowned Berlin-based label Innervisions and collaborative booking agency Temporary Secretary. Besides, he collectively continually works with Defected Records, Innervisions, Zukunft, Watergate, Rumpelmusig, Hive Audio and Rebirth. Continuously on an exploration to push the boundaries and create new sound within the genre, most recently Jules was awarded a silver disk marking 200,000 sales of the 2020 track “Pushin On” released on Defected. No doubt a unique character within the music scene, Jimi Jules is well-known for his multidisciplinary approach having completed his master’s degree in music at the acclaimed University of Arts in Zurich. A descendant from a tribe of Caribbean voodoo-sorcerers and a Swiss farmer, Jimi Jules believes every little piece or second can turn into an inspiration moment: his children, family and friends to people watching from a bench and listening to the same drum loop for four hours. From The Grand Factory in Beirut to Brooklyn Mirage in New York (with every renowned club across the world in between) Jimi Jules orchestrates and conducts a club filled with thousands with the same force and energy as an intimate studio session, working alone or with other producers and musicians to discover new forms of music and sound. Endeavoring to blur the worlds of sound and art through the interplay of collaboration, Jimi Jules cites Dixon, Joy Tyson and Tugg the Dummer as creative partners as well as most recently working with multidisciplinary London creative Trevor Jackson to produce radically bold and innovative visuals and artwork to compliment the sound. A mentor, innovator and learner spanning the entirety of club culture and beyond. Jimi Jules’ second album titled “+” will be released on Innervisions,in 2022. The eleven track release available digitally and on vinyl was developed in Zurich and co-produced by Dixon, exploring the trauma of togetherness yet looks forward to a future aligned on positive thoughts and freedom.
