Lydo is a Filipino-born Vietnamese-American sound artist. As a resident DJ of BASEMENT NY, their distinctive sets explode the parameters of techno, deftly cutting across genres while retaining a highly personal emotional resonance. Whenever Lydo plays, it’s best to leave your expectations at the door and simply prepare for an unexpected array of sonic thrills, ranging from visceral and grooving to mind-bendingly experimental. A trans artist themselves, Lydo launched X-TRA.SERVICES to serve and create space for queer, trans, and nonbinary people of color. This ethos of care and insurgent collectivity runs through their broader practice. They have performed at Berlin Atonal, Draaimolen Festival, Bourse de Commerce, and Bassiani, as well as subterranean parties and festivals across North America, Europe, and Asia. Beyond the club, Lydo works with sound through installation, composition, and curation. Their abstract, experimental work spans museum and institutional contexts, including MoMA PS1, SculptureCenter, and Kunsthalle Basel, among others. His DJ sets blend percussive sounds with a futuristic essence that simultaneously invite introspection, escape, and connection. Faustin effortlessly morphs through genres, sculpting transcendent moments on the dance floor, each infused with a narrative that feels both bound and uniquely crafted for that instant in time. He has been a favourite fixture on Dutch and international dance floors, including POING CLUB, BASEMENT NY, Draaimolen, Wire Festival, and CLUB RAUM, where he currently holds a residency. Deeply inspired by his heritage and the queer community to which he belongs, Faustin's exploration of mixed cultural identities spans mediums beyond the DJ booth. During his past residency at POING, he curated multidisciplinary club nights; he has also explored sound through visuals in A/V performances, most recently collaborating with Sondi at Kunsthal and WORM Rotterdam. He further delves into collectively redefining, exploring, and remixing cultural heritage through his resident show cccriojo* on Operator Radio. Meilgaarden started her DJ journey in 2016 in Stockholm, Sweden. After her move to New York in 2018, she started the intimate Thursday club night Sound Gymnastics that became a frequent night at Mood Ring. Throughout the years, she cemented her sound and presence behind the booth, and is now a regular at BASEMENT, appears consistently at Nowadays, Public Records, Bossa Nova, Paragon, and more.
