“To sum it up best, Juno sees techno as a textbook through culture and history.”
their own biography
the whole biography
To sum it up best, Juno sees techno as a textbook through culture and history. The Queens, NY-born Jamaican DJ has always gravitated toward electronic music since they were younger, but it wasn’t until after their time living in Germany and North Carolina that they realized how much deeper this music goes. Through their own research and the guidance of the owners of the former NC record store 641 RPM (shoutout E&T), they discovered the roots and sound of the music we all love. Underground Resistance, DJ Bone , Jay Denham , and many more acts and individuals inspired them and shaped what this music means to them, as well as what it can teach to so many, such as themes of resistance, community, and humanity. Now living back in Queens, they’ve been making their way around the circuit, playing at notable spots like Bossa Nova Civic Club, Signal and H0L0 , where they’ve shared the stage with techno OGS such as Joey Beltram, Adam X, DJ Shufflemaster, Mike Dearborn, and Shawnscape Renegade. While their growth may not be exponential, they’re truly in this for the long game and the love of the sound. Picking up records in late 2023 only deepened their passion and knowledge of music, and they’ve become increasingly comfortable with their style, showcasing it whenever they can in the new NYC music scene.Recently at Signal, Paragon, Bossa Nova Civic Club · often with LINDA, KYRUH, wahala.wav, none of them here that night

“Born and raised in Queens, a city dweller and a club kid, Kilopatrah has an innate and superlative gift for transferring energy from the booth to the dance floor—through exciting house, techno, and jungle, and moments that both harken to Sound Factory–era glory days and bring you to sweaty BPMs of the future.”

Born and raised in Queens, a city dweller and a club kid, Kilopatrah has an innate and superlative gift for transferring energy from the booth to the dance floor—through exciting house, techno, and jungle, and moments that both harken to Sound Factory–era glory days and bring you to sweaty BPMs of the future. Their sets are palpably personal: The dance floor has always been a powerful platform for expression for Kilo, once as a freeing and connecting space for a quiet house dancer and now as one for moving others like them. When Kilo gets going, you’ll lose sense of the kick drum versus the beat of your own body against the floor. That’s a gift from them to you, and your percussion is a gift back to them. Kilo brings their energetic sass to a monthly Lot Radio residency and to parties with impressive lineups, playing alongside Todd Terry home in New York, at the legendary Movement weekend Club Toilet in Detroit, and for Boiler Room. Their mixes, for series such as Coloring Lessons, Honcho, and Juanita’s, and for spots on Rinse and Refuge, also capture the club at its most euphoric. You’ll step a little harder with Kilopatrah Jones. Blending classic house with the raw energy of percussive dance, and ghetto tech, Dennis creates a sound that’s both soulful & rhythmic with driving basslines. His sets—ranging from 120 to 140 BPM—have an undeniable pulse that pulls dancers into a communal trance which has quickly allowed him to carve out a name as one of the most exciting young tastemakers in dance music. Dennis has graced iconic stages like London’s Fabric and Drumsheds, sharing bills with notable acts like A-Trak, Loco Dice, Peggy Gou, Carlita, HoneyLuv, Questlove, Moodymann & more. Alongside features in Rolling Stone, Office Mag and Resident Advisor, Dennis’ influence stretches beyond the booth. As a founding force behind Brooklyn’s Level III Collective, the grassroots movement that started as a humble apartment party has now evolved into a multifaceted collective known for its vibrant, inclusive community of clubbers & music fans alike.
