DJ Plant Texture, born Donato Basile in Bari, Southern Italy, is an electronic music producer, DJ, and former record store owner whose work blends raw rhythmic intensity with deep emotional resonance. Active since the early 2000s under various aliases including Dona, A662, and DJ PT, he is best known for his genre-defying productions that fuse techno, breakbeat, jungle, acid, footwork, and ambient into a singular, highly percussive sonic identity. Growing up in Bari, Dona developed a passion for rhythm and electronic hardware early on. As a drummer in his youth, his deep connection with rhythm became a defining characteristic of his work. He began experimenting with music production using an MPC in the early 2000s—a tool that remains central to his workflow today. His approach to music-making is instinctive and highly physical, often rooted in live jamming sessions and real-time manipulation of hardware, rather than meticulous programming. Basile’s entry into the underground techno and experimental scenes was marked by a series of releases on respected labels such as Crème Organization, Ilian Tape, and Tresor Records. His breakout came with a string of EPs that caught the attention of techno connoisseurs for their fearless blending of styles and lo-fi grit. Over the years, he has cultivated a raw but melodic sound that balances chaos and control, drawing equally from the legacy of 90s rave culture and the textural experimentation of IDM. In April 2025, DJ Plant Texture released his debut EP on the legendary Berlin - based label Tresor, titled Life. This release marked a significant moment in his career, not only for its prestigious platform but for its deeply personal thematic content. The EP explores themes of self-awareness, anxiety, and the emotional weight of transitioning into adulthood. Beyond the studio, Basile also played a central role in his local scene by founding and running EXP Records (R.I.P.), a record store in Bari that became a meeting point for local producers and DJs. This space not only connected people through vinyl but also helped foster a community and exchange of ideas in Southern Italy's underground music culture. The store has had a lasting impact on his artistic perspective, informing both the nostalgic and forward- looking elements of his work. Giovani, under the name of Switch, started his Dj career in 2000, 3 years after he won the Human Pattern and The Riddle DJ contest in 2003, then had his first residency in a small underground club called "Subroyal" in Bogotá, Colombia. He was playing all sorts of music from Electro,Techno, Tech‐house to Breaks. Spinning in the most popular clubs in Colombia's capital city, Bogota like Monitor, Barbarella, Arena, La Sala, 4Rooms and more ‐ this got the attention of Ultrabass collective whom in 2004 invited him to play at the Bogotraxx Festival which is a self‐funded independent festival with the objective to spread electronic art and music to the different sectors of Bogotá with free concerts and workshops. This festival has the participation of Djs from Germany and more European countries like France where this festival was celebrated simultaneously. Giovani’s participation in the arts and electronic music festival Bogotrax, propelled a European tour later on 2004 where he pinned in differents Clubs such us: Batofar (www.batofar.org), Glazart (http://www.glazart.com/), Rexclub (http://www.rexclub.com/), Le 4 sans (http://www.le4sans.com/), Le fleche d’or (http://www.flechedor.fr/), Technoparade 2005 (http://www.technoparade.fr/) Le Placard Headphones Festival 2005 (http://www.leplacard.org/) and private events until the end of the 2005’s summer. In 2006 Giovani moves to New York where he has played ever since his arrival ratifying his sometimes‐quirky, somewhat‐spacey always‐banging style of mixing, earning respect among the industry members and fans. In the big apple Giovani had his first residency at Bar 13 NYC become an active element of Biatch Corp collective and started techno parties and in 2008 was established also as a recording label. Biatch Corp collective was responsible of the debut artist in New York like: Joseph Capriatti, Stephan Bodzin, Perc and many more, the collective was selected between the top 5 techno parties in New York by the Time Out New York magazine, great accomplishment at that time in the constantly struggling New York scene. In 2010 founded Trilogy NYC events. w/ (Vj ELI-Q) and still providing events to support New York's Electronic music scene, connecting and providing an opportunity for local talent Djs from all over the world but specially support of Colombian Djs/Artist.
