Patrick Russell is a true veteran of the US underground, perhaps one of the last unsung heroes of a now lost era in the Midwest. A genuine sonic storyteller, he magically transforms the diaspora of acid, pure jack energy, and hints of IDM into a deep, fluent sonic dialog that never fails to devastate both minds and dance floor. A Detroit-bred DJ, artist, and producer active since the early 90's, Patrick has now made New York City his home. Perhaps best known as a key figure in the legendary No Way Back parties, his ability to weave intensely unique, long-format narratives has earned him critical acclaim and repeat performances at Japan’s Labyrinth festival, Berghain, Unsound, and DEMF/Movement. Patrick has also been steadily building a strong catalog of high-profile productions to compliment his increasingly varied, hypnotic, and in-demand DJ sets; his recent 3-track remix EP on The Bunker New York also marks his induction as an official resident DJ at the long-running Brooklyn party. His consummate taste and disciplined execution have created a respect that cannot be purchased. Patrick Russell is not just a name to watch, he is someone to be experienced.Techno on 34, Experimental on 8, Ambient on 6 and Acid on 7. styles on their catalogued releasesReleased on On Board Music (2) (1), Standards & Practices (2) (1) and useless seconds (1); their RA profile also lists BPitch, Circus Company, Delsin, Blank Artists and 6 more. labels on their catalogued releases and on their RA profileRecently at Signal, Nowadays, public records · often with Mike Servito, BMG, Carlos Souffront, none of them here that night
“As an artist, Batu continually strikes out on his own.”
their own biography
the whole biography
As an artist, Batu continually strikes out on his own. Rightly hailed for his distinctive slant on modernist techno and experimental club music, he’s also prolific beyond the dancefloor. His is a sound marked out by bold shapes and angular expressions, whether strapped to physical rhythms or not. His 2022 debut album Opal took his accomplished sound design into broader spheres of expression, while production work for FKA Twigs saw him approaching pop sensibilities with his non-conformist sonic palette. As well as his production work, Batu’s presence as a DJ on the international club and festival circuit touches on venerated events such as Glastonbury, Dekmantel Festival, Sonar and Unsound. The flexibility in his sound also translates to the intimacy of smaller underground events - an environment which remains inspiring even as he graces some of the biggest stages for electronic music globally. Beyond sonics, his interests expand into visual work too, having produced and directed the video to his own track ‘Solace’ and collaborated on an A/V composition with Harry Butt for his Crack Magazine cover feature - one of multiple cover features he’s been placed on. Taken alongside his music, Batu’s holistic engagement with electronic music culture adds up to a considered spectrum of output and efforts with a shared aim - to push things forward.Their RA profile lists XL Recordings, Hessle Audio, Livity Sound, Timedance and 1 more.Recently at Nowadays, Paragon, public records · often with JASSS, KAVARI, Dj Babatr, none of them here that night

While many DJs approach genre adventurously, few are as expansive and unique as CCL. With an incisive, technical and creative approach to mixing, and a ravenous appetite for music of all kinds, they can unite the unimaginable with a uniquely adaptable sense of dancefloor intuition. Drawing from experiences as a talent buyer, DIY festival organizer, and record collector with roots in Bristol and the DIY scenes of North America, CCL’s perspective draws from an affinity for fluidity and liminality – they weave together distinct narratives that open rhythmic wormholes between geographical regions, eras, and all genres and tempos. From their acclaimed club and festival sets, mixtapes, their liquidtime series, and their residency at Berlin institution Ohm, they showcase their unique take on sonic storytelling and otherworldly dancefloor intuition, uniting dance floors and chatrooms around the world. “A music nerd's DJ but also a DJ’s DJ”- Resident Advisor’s “Art of DJing”.Their RA profile lists 3024, Allergy Season, Fever AM, Planet Euphorique and 1 more.Recently at Signal, Nowadays, public records · often with Nono Gigsta, Roza Terenzi, Vlada, none of them here that night
