Alinka is the kind of DJ other DJ’s will tell you about. She has a unique power on the decks that comes from lifelong passion and time served, with a focused devotion to her first love – house music. Raised on Chicago’s vibrant house sound with toes dipped into Detroit techno, Europe’s more robust approaches to bass music and the myriad of genre’s coming from cities like Berlin, London and Paris. Born in Kyiv, Ukraine, her early childhood included reluctantly learning the piano, her mother is a pianist, while trying to convince her parents to let her play guitar. Her exposure to Western music was limited, living in a communist country where censorship was common practice. Her family eventually immigrated to Chicago as Jewish refugees in the late ‘80s as the USSR crumbled. This was her first experience of pop music and she fell head over heels for the chart sounds of Madonna and Janet Jackson. Then came house music from local radio shows where you could frequently hear tracks by Chicago legends like Cajmere and DJ Funk, and shows like Sonic Boom helped expose underground music to the masses. By the late ‘90s, music had taken over her life. Teenage Alinka immersed herself in the dance music scene spending her summer pulling double shifts at a local pool and moonlighting for rave promoters to build up enough cash to buy decks. After a year of skipping class to relentlessly practice her mixing skills, she began her full-time musical pursuit. Working for various club promoters, doing odd jobs passing out flyers and helping with party logistics - anything just to get into clubs underage to see her favourite DJs - all while spending hours digging for tracks at Chicago’s legendary record shop Gramaphone. In 2001 Justin Long recruited her to be the opening resident for his .Dotbleep party at Smartbar where she honed her skills for the best part of a decade. In 2012, an impromptu meeting with former Hercules and Love Affair vocalist, Shaun J. Wright, changed her life forever. Their evolving friendship resulted in what would be the first of many musical collaborations. The pair launched their Twirl parties and label, continually strived to inspire each other both musically and spiritually, the result has been an impressive catalogue of material for both of them collaboratively and individually on the likes of The Classic Music Company, Jackathon Jams, Crosstown Rebels, Leftroom, and of course Twirl, where as well as their own material the duo have welcomed renowned artists like Spencer Parker, Virginia, LA-4A, Kim Ann Foxman, and Jason Kendig onto the label. Recent years have seen Alinka really hit her stride as a producer with successful releases on world renown labels like !K7, Rekids, Correspondant, DGTL Records, Permanent Vacation, and Peggy Gou’s Gudu Records. She also turned out a standout collection of remixes for labels Me Me Me, Live At Robert Johnson, Get Physical, and Massimiliano Pagliara’s Funnuvojere Records. Now living in Berlin, Alinka has well and truly found her feet and inspiration. Alinka has used this base to throw down at parties across Europe from Berghain/Panorama Bar to Robert Johnson, with regular visits back to the US to play standout clubs like Smart Bar and Basement, and Ukraine's famous ∄ club in Kyiv, where she stands as club’s first international resident. Her evolution continues with the recent re-launch of her Twirl imprint, highlighted by the ‘Day Dreamer’, ‘Sorry For Not Trending’ and ‘Edgewater’ EP’s, and her latest single ‘Touch The Flame’ that finely balance Alinka’s future-focused ethos, with a unmistakable, proud passion for her Chicago heritage.Their RA profile lists Classic, Crosstown Rebels, Get Physical Music, !K7 and 6 more.Recently at Green Room NYC, BASEMENT, Good Room · often with Berghain, Cinthie, Efdemin, none of them here that night

Pachanga Boys, Hippie Dance, TOPAZdeluxe, M.N. Roy and Mayan Warrior are some of the projects Rebolledo is involved as “Experience Designer” showing his forward thinking vision. Foremost, He believes in music beyond boundaries, collecting material from all corners of the world and showing how you can tell a story with those apparently unconnected records. His sound is propelled forward by psychedelic beats and rippling synthetic basslines that induce trance like states. Whether it’s his solo or collaborative efforts, Rebolledo has always been a maverick presence in underground dance culture. Rebolledo’s unique signature as both a dj and a producer is exhibited by his early releases on Cómeme including his singular 2011 debut album ‘Super Vato’, trough to his latest album ‘Mondo Alterado’ from 2016 and his work as fifty percent of the notorious duo Pachanga Boys. In 2010 Mauricio joined forces with Aksel Schaufler (aka Superpitcher) giving birth to this project. They first presented their unique style on a couple of Kompakt Total compilations. Not long after, they conceived their own label ‘Hippie Dance’ to have full creative freedom, on which they released some cult EP’s including iconic tracks such as ‘Time’, ‘Black Naga’ and ‘Poem For The Youth’, as well as their first album ‘We Are Really Sorry’ in 2012. Rebolledo returned to Kompakt with his 2014 Mix CD called ‘Momento Drive’, which was part of that year’s Top Ten Mix Cd’s list by Resident Advisor, and Included the single ‘Windsurf, Sunburn and Dollar’ which was number one on that year´s Spin Magazine list of best Dance Songs. Rebolledo’s exotic style has also build a strong connection to the fashion world, his tracks have been used by brands like Chanel, Maison Martin Margiela, Versace, Karl by Karl Lagerfeld, as soundtrack of their runways. Over the years, solo and as Pachanga Boys, he has released several acclaimed remixes to a diverse selection of artists such as Röyksopp, Tiga, John Talabot, Pional, Jagwar Ma and Fango to name a few. As a partner of two of the most iconic clubs in Mexico, M.N. Roy in Mexico City, and the now classic TOPAZdeluxe in Monterrey which he founded in 2007, and as a main collaborator of the Mayan Warrior project, he has pushed the music culture beyond his own performances. In 2015 Rebolledo was included in the FORBES Magazine list of the fifty Mexican creatives with the most worldwide influence. In 2017 his reworks album ´Mondo Re Alterado´ is coming out including collaborations with great artists such as Superpitcher, DJ Tennis, Maceo Plex, Red Axes among others.Their RA profile lists Kompakt, Cómeme, Riotvan, Hippie Dance and 1 more.Recently at Moondog Hifi, Musica Club NYC, Gaia Nomaya · often with Axel Boman, Berghain, Doltz, none of them here that night

We're at the point where any music you want can come out of any THING you want, at any time of the day, at any price you're willing to entertain. It’s beyond overwhelming — which is to say off the bat: There's something just nice about a good old-fashioned FM radio show like Beats In Space. Every Tuesday night at 10:30pm, anybody within radius of WNYU's transmitter can tune into 89.1 FM for this dance music show hosted by the DJ Tim Sweeney. Tim has had the show since he was a college student—so 15 years now. And while he'd bristle at the idea of himself being a "renowned DJ" (he is) or even an "in-demand DJ" (ditto), I'll say that if you love dance music, few things are better than Tim’s show. You can also listen online afterwards. But especially when I listen live, it feels a lot like eavesdropping. Special guests drop in to play records (Prosumer, Seth Troxler), regulars swing by and heckle (Juan Maclean, Doug Lee), and at least one recurring caller, a temperamental man named Victor from Washington Heights, weighs in with praise and less-than-praise. This is as close as you can get to a clubhouse — the sound and soundtrack of friends playing new songs for each other, talking about music, razzing each other for things you can't quite understand. It’s easy, for me at least, to see why Tim became the center of all this. I and other music people are drawn to his quiet enthusiasm, his devotion to craft, his sense of New York history. He’s had good mentors too. Tim interned with the legendary Steve Stein — Steinski — who legendarily would take a whole week to prep a single two-hour radio mix. Tim also interned at DFA Records under James Murphy and Tim Goldsworthy, right when things were getting good. (Trivia: You can hear Tim play sax on the DFA remix of Radio 4's "Dance To The Underground.”) From there he became a mainstay at the legendary DFA parties in the early and mid 00s, and developed a reputation as a DJ not for his skill or taste but for his empathy—having a sixth sense to him about when he could take a party to another plane. Like the time he played the first Holy Ghost! 12” at Studio B... I was there! Then there’s Beats In Space Records. I don’t know how Tim finds the time to run this impeccable label of his—now into double digits. But it doesn’t surprise me that, between Tim traveling the world and the world traveling to Tim, he finds great tunes that would otherwise slip by the rest of us. After A Laughing Light of Plenty’s beardo-disco stomp “The Rose”, Tim approached the group’s Eddie Ruscha with a simple question: Is there anything else? That’s how Secret Circuit came to be— killer psych techno disco pop, which is a neat enough summation of Tim’s tastes too. Since then BIS has released gritty schaffel (Gonno’s “Are You Asleep”), spartan house (Jee Day’s "Sum Of Love"), and soft-focus noir-pop (Paradis's "Hemisphere"). All those are monsters, but the story I keep coming back to is Lauer. Before Philip Lauer released music on Tim’s label, he was a fan of Tim’s show. And I like to think I can hear the Beats In Space influence in Lauer’s “Macsat Ring Down” — the clean, glitchy rhythms that fit together puzzle-like, the call and response bass and lead lines, the slow drip of overdrive. It seems custom built for Tim. Total hogwash maybe, and Tim would blush at the suggestion. As a radio host, DJ, label honcho — in any of these humble roles, let alone all of them, Tim’s aim is humble too: Make people excited about the music that excites him. But here he is: releasing records on Beats In Space that he would play on Beats In Space radio, by artists influenced by records Tim previously played on Beats In Space... I mean, wow, right? Snake got your tongue, Tim? If he won’t gloat, I will.Their RA profile lists DFA Records, Rvng Intl., Beats in Space Records, MR.INTL and 3 more.Recently at Good Room, public records, Gabriela · often with Justin Strauss, gabby cocco, Fango, none of them here that night
