    the whole biography
Bio Few DJs could adequately represent the last three decades of New York nightclub history - no less do so with such iconic credentials as Justin Strauss. Since he was 17, when his first band was signed to Island Records, Justin has had a career that reads like a Who’s-Who of the music scene, spinning at nearly every dance club that you’d ever want to go to. Starting as DJ at New York’s legendary Mudd Club, he spun his way through The Ritz, Limelight, Area, Tunnel, M.K., Life, Centro Fly and more, pioneering his own distinctive sound, and becoming one of the most sought-after remixers and producers not just in New York, but in the world. He has worked with the gamut of artists - Depeche Mode, Sergio Mendez, Tina Turner, Jimmy Cliff, B-52s, Luther Vandross, Malcolm McClaren, Skinny Puppy, Goldfrapp, to name a few (see full list) – and on over 200 records! Much of the new dance crowd that goes to hear Justin DJ today, whether at subMercer, The Standard, Highbar, Soho House, or Love, doesn’t necessarily know his history; they simply love his spinning because he always keeps them dancing and surprised, seamlessly mixing between choice classics, delectable rarities and innovative beats. For Justin, no genre or style is off-limits – he can and will mix anything, so long as he can keep the crowd enthralled. His self-proclaimed mission is “connecting the dots” between what might otherwise seem disparate musical periods and styles, while introducing exciting new sounds. He does so with infectious passion, subverting preconceptions about what’s old and new, and inspiring young DJs with his masterful skill and ever-youthful spirit. But Justin Strauss doesn’t stop there. As half of the production duo, Whatever/Whatever, he continues to produce and mix records, working on remixes for the likes of LCD Soundsystem, Beyonce, La Roux and more. In fact, he doesn’t stop at all. Like the amazing city he’s dedicatedly kept dancing since 1980, Justin just keeps going. Coming Soon. a/jus/ted . New project with Eddie Mars. 2013

“DJ Kibachan (Hiromi Kiba) is a New York-based DJ, interdisciplinary artist, and dancer.”

    their own biography

    the whole biography
DJ Kibachan (Hiromi Kiba) is a New York-based DJ, interdisciplinary artist, and dancer. Growing up in the small fishing town of Toba, Japan, constantly hitting gigs and spinning records from an early age while obsessed with fashion styling, that background shapes everything they do today. Sound is deeply rooted in decades of underground club culture and vinyl record collecting, bridging the tactile memory of Japanese folk traditions with the raw immediacy of New York's nightlife to craft genre-defying, borderless sound sets guided by care, wellness, and community. Holding monthly residencies at Nightmoves and The Last Call—alongside previous residencies at Tokyo Record Bar, Jupiter Disco, and Ace Hotel Brooklyn—they’re known for rare wave and thrilling sonic journeys. Steering clear of standard high-energy club tracks, these residencies lean into carefully curated listening sessions—shifting fluidly from avant-garde electronics to traditional rhythms depending on the room. As an active poet, rapper, and performance artist, Kibachan has brought work to spots like the Noguchi Museum, Loisaida Center, and The Elizabeth Foundation for the Arts. Moving easily between sound, movement, and text, the work connects New York's art and nightlife scenes, always pushing the edges of art and music. Fresh off finishing her biographical essay, Ningen Mirror Ball (Human Imperfection), Kibachan is now working on her very first album, kairi, composing their spoken word/rap, and weaving found sound in Ableton Live 12.

    their own biography

    the whole biography
Willy Soul is a Brooklyn-based producer, DJ, MC, and music curator known for his signature blend of funk-driven energy, global underground knowledge, and dancefloor storytelling. A central figure in both NYC nightlife and the global roller-skating scene, he has held residencies at Good Room and Public Records, alongside his long-running warehouse series Funky Seshwa. He also serves as Music Director, curator, and resident DJ for Flipper’s Roller Boogie Palace at Rockefeller Center, Xanadu Roller Arts in Bushwick, and Europe’s flagship skate festival, Skate Love Barcelona—shaping the sound and spirit of every space he touches. In 2025, he joined Louie Vega’s Funki Cadets producer collective on Vega Records, debuting with their collaboration “Feelin’ Good Tonight.” His next project, NY/CDMX, with Mexican electronic artist Pahua, is set for release on TheJazzDiaries in Summer 2026. Hard to pin down, Willy is a seasoned selector with a deep affinity for diverse sounds and movements, moving fluidly from psychedelic, Latin, and Far East selections to jazz, minimal, and peak-time dancefloor cuts. Willy has toured internationally, playing everything from gritty warehouse parties in NYC and Detroit to historic theaters in Ibiza, skate jams along the coast of Portugal, beaches in Naples, and major global platforms like Amsterdam Dance Event and Miami Music Week. He has shared the stage with icons including Kaytranada, Moodymann, Louie Vega, and DJ Harvey. A fixture in the world’s leading hi-fi listening bars—Dante’s HiFi (Miami), Brilliant Corners (London), Public Records (NYC), and Sans Soleil (Montréal—he is widely recognized as a trusted record digger with a deep love for jazz, Latin, Afro, and dance music roots, extending into forward-thinking sounds.
