their own biography
the whole biography
Afro-Indigenous DJ Roselle holds the sentiment “music is resistance, us its stewards” close to the heart. Raised in part by the chief of her Tribe, mother Alma Gordon, she learned the importance of storytelling at a young age. She lends her voice and vision not only to soundscapes, but to championing the efforts of her late mother and seeking reparations and landback for her ancestors, the original stewards of Martha's Vineyard Island. Her sound is an amalgamation of those who came before her, the afro-indigenous diaspora, and lived experience spanning musical beginnings in the suburbs of Chicago and Houston before settling on Lenape Land in Brooklyn, NY. Her mixes have been described as “heart opening” and her love of and devotion to the practice has brought her to dance floors across New York. She most recently made her festival debut at the Pan Afro-Wisdom (POW) Fest in Brooklyn and joined the DJ collective RENEGADE.Recently at Mood Ring, Purgatory, Jupiter Disco · often with shadowofadoubt, Violet Throw, Nondough, none of them here that night
