Akanbi is heading a new generation of dedicated ravers in New York City. Raised in Lagos, Nigeria, with limited access to the internet but a huge thirst for new music, Akanbi moved to NYC in 2010 and immersed himself head on into every corner of dance music, as a serious dancer and, eventually, a DJ and rave activator. He’s cultivated his unique style of DJing that delivers an intentional blend of freak-out boogie music, sensual rollers, whip-crack bangers, insistent percussion, afrobeat goodness, deep thumping low frequencies & slow-burning experimental descents. In 2014, he started New York City's GROOVY GROOVY party - a judgment-free atmosphere for wild dance floors, spiritual, mental & physical rejuvenation, radical politics, and a dose of undeniably rocking talent. Akanbi has made an impression with visionary sets across the globe at select spaces like Guggenheim Museum, Sustain Release, Nowadays, Dekmantel, Horst, OIL Club Shanghai, WWW Tokyo, Berghain/Panorama Bar, Corsica Studios, Primavera Sound Barcelona et al.Recently at Bossa Nova Civic Club, Nowadays, public records · often with /KATA/, The Large, Ayanna Heaven, none of them here that night

London-born, Atlanta-raised, and Brooklyn-based, J.N.R. grounds her obsession with digging and curation in a deep respect for club culture and endless hours spent on the dancefloor. Her sound sits at the crossroads of uk bass, prog, and tech house, with moments of meditative introspection and energetic exuberance doled out in equal measure. Classically trained for 15 years, J.N.R. brings both precision and playfulness to her sets, infusing foundational influences with fresh energy. She’s played at a number of notable venues in BK and beyond, including Elsewhere, H0L0, and Kater, and has graced the decks for respected NYC institutions like ReSolute and Ladies on Wax. J.N.R. sets traverse genres and are rooted in the raw expression of the 90s & early 00s: bumpy UKG, spacey prog, techy rollers, choppy breaks, and heady bass are all on the table.Recently at Honey's, Mood Ring, Jupiter Disco · often with Gigi Rio, Remniqe, Samuel Pojer, none of them here that night
