    their own biography

    the whole biography
Aaron J has been quietly reimagining the deeper currents of dance music for over a decade. The seasoned DJ has cultivated his own milieu of lucid, empathic sound both through his renowned work as a selector and as curator of the record label, podcast, and event series Sure Thing. Currently based in Brooklyn, Aaron has been a pillar of scenes throughout the US including Boston, LA, the Pacific Northwest, and San Francisco, where Sure Thing was founded. He draws from these experiences across the continent to develop his distinct sound, synthesizing an expansive set of environments and sonic sensibilities into a new whole. He grounds the rhythmic language of bass and dub in the personal and ancient, beguiling listeners into states of hypnosis through tracks marked by intricate sound design and a delicate romanticism. Aaron’s expert control of narrative is particularly showcased in his longform sets, where he challenges listeners into unfamiliar places of feeling and movement while holding just enough space for them to do so. Aaron’s masterful sense of pacing and his emotional acuity as a DJ are inextricably linked, as evidenced by highlight performances at Sustain-Release and Monument Festival and a nod from Resident Advisor as one of techno’s “best kept secrets.” Feeling is at the core of his work, expressed and explored through endless variation of texture and rhythm. Sets move through distinct passages distinguished by hazy boundaries. Tracks are layered atop one another, with a constant consideration to balance, between energy and restraint, momentum and introspection, turbulence and relief. The flow of time becomes obscured in a phantom forest of sonic patterns that push at the edges of perception, acting as a foil for one’s own latent feelings to unfurl. Beyond the boundaries of tempo or genre, Aaron brings listeners fully into their senses by tying together subtle threads of emotion, with the poise of a DJ who can at once witness past, present, and future affective states of the dance floors he guides. Childhood friends with Iraqi and Maltese lineage, the duo and their legacy building Butter Sessions label have ushered in a new era, sensibility and productivity to the city that raised them. A defiantly DIY two-man assembly line, Maryos Syawish and Corey Kikos have issued a steady stream of diverse records on their own imprint, as well as on like-minded international outposts Incienso, Planet Euphorique and Cocktail d'Amore. Releasing ‘Rebel Force’ in 2019 and ‘Electronic Arts’ in 2023, their albums bind a singular take on mutated house, bush doof, dub techno and downtempo, while their composition and production capacity has also been augmented via 2021’s chamber orchestra collaboration ‘Flashed Glass’ and the rescored film soundtracks for ‘Eraserhead’ and ‘Pan’s Labyrinth’. With long-standing DJ residencies and an ever evolving live show fit for both clubs and vast paddocks, the dexterous duo’s alchemy has energised hordes across the US, UK, Europe, Asia and Australia.
Their RA profile lists Butter Sessions, Analogue Attic Recordings, Incienso, Altered States Tapes and 1 more.

“Juana has enticed crowds all over the world at venues such as Berghain, LuxFrágil, Fabric, Smartbar, Basement, Nowadays, and countless festivals and underground warehouse gigs.”

    their own biography

    the whole biography
Juana has enticed crowds all over the world at venues such as Berghain, LuxFrágil, Fabric, Smartbar, Basement, Nowadays, and countless festivals and underground warehouse gigs. She originally hails from the city of Chicago where she cultivated her love for the underground at clubs like Smartbar and The Generator and parties such as Soul in the Hole and Boom Boom Room. She began DJing in roughly 2001 and moved to DC in 2003 where she began hosting weekly live internet radio shows on HandzOnRadio (Baltimore) and Cyberjamz (Tampa) and playing parties in the DC scene, upping her skills alongside her mentor and legendary DJ Sam “the Man” Burns, and at clubs including Red and the DC Sanctuary. Juana started obsessively collecting disco and early house records in the late 90s and eventually developed an undying penchant for straight-ahead techno and deeper, darker shades of first and second-wave Chicago dance music. In the 2010s, Juana made her mark in DC as one of only a handful of techno DJs and a resident of the legendary rave, Sequence, and started regularly touring North and South America and EU. In the 2020s, Juana picked up major momentum, becoming a resident of the renowned rave Unter and making frequent appearances at Basement, Nowadays, and Paragon. She has been a founding member of the DC QT BIPOC collective NOXEEMA JACKSON since 2021, and in 2026, joined the MERGE collective. As a producer, her most recent EP “We Are Everything We Think We're Not” was released in March 2024, and she has also appeared recently on releases from the No Mercy, World Building, and Perimeter Junk labels. She is currently working on more releases, probably until she croaks.

“Brooklyn-based DJ and producer Clarisa Kimskii has cemented her musical footprint on the borough since moving back in 2022.”

    their own biography

    the whole biography
Brooklyn-based DJ and producer Clarisa Kimskii has cemented her musical footprint on the borough since moving back in 2022. Through a palpable blend of psychedelic and driving techno, Clarisa’s approach to the genre is deeply idiosyncratic - an assemblage of both timeless and modern grooves. As a producer, Clarisa has contributed to a handful of respected labels (Monday Off, Dusk & Haze, Mysteries of the Deep, etc.) within her sonic niche, but it’s through her own label L.A.G where the ethos of her sound truly takes form - a detailed variation of propulsive and atmospheric soundscapes. Clarisa is deeply rooted in the techno subculture’s underground, and in early 2022 - the 20+ year veteran was named resident DJ of the Brooklyn-based, queer party Merge. Through her former residency at Merge and regular appearances at the city’s premiere institutions in BASEMENT Nowadays and Bossa Nova Civic Club Clarisa’s prestige is undeniably felt. Her pure, yet passionate approach to DJing has graced the decks of memorable nights at international institutions in Berlin's Berghain, Tbilisi's Khidi, and at notably iconic parties in Wrecked, Club Toilet, and The Bunker NY. Recent festival appearances at Taiwan’s Organik Festival and North America’s Honcho Campout, Sustain-Release, Whole Festival , Draaimolen and The Great Beyond have only elevated her reputation as a force within those respective communities. The saga continues with juicy bits on the horizon.

Whether delivering pure techno, soulful house, or futurist electro, DVS1’s sets are high-energy transmissions—anchored by flawless technique and a deep, instinctive feel for the dancefloor. More than just performances, DVS1’s sets are moments of connection, honoring the past while pushing sonic boundaries forward. DVS1 has released on electronic music’s most prestigious imprints, including Axis Records, Transmat, Klockworks, PoleGroup, and his own labels, HUSH and Mistress Recordings. As a DJ, he has held residencies at world-renowned clubbing institutions, including Fuse, Bassiani, Smartbar, and Berghain / Panorama Bar, where he is one of the few artists trusted to play both floors. As a beat and rhythm addict, DVS1 is an architect of immersive dancefloor experiences, most notably through his large-scale sonic project, The Wall of Sound. Through his multidimensional platform HUSH, his passion and respect for music runs through every aspect of his work—whether behind the decks, in the studio, or designing sound systems. Beyond the booth, he’s challenging outdated industry structures, proven by creating the revenue-sharing platform Aslice as well as his widely embraced Enjoy Right Now campaign. DVS1’s legacy reflects a commitment to evolution through authenticity—always grounded in the values that shaped him and always in service to the music and the dancefloor. In a time increasingly defined by distraction and digital spectacle, his work stands as a reminder of the lasting power of shared experience and the present moment. DVS1’s voice as an innovator and advocate has been earned and his presence, on and off the dancefloor, stays true to his past without losing sight of the future.
