from the promoter’s listing

Nowadays once again returns to Planet Groovy, as the celebrated party series heats up its sexy rhythmic melting pot for a full takeover at this week’s Nonstop.

The night begins with KATA, a sonic adept whose wide range covers everything from syncopated percussion to soulful R&B merged with blissed-out drum n’ bass.

Uncompromising Jamaican dancehall experimentalist Gavsborg covers the midnight hours in a cloud of ever-shifting rhythms, combining soundsystem sensibilities with hip-shaking traditions of world percussion. NVST emerges at the midnight hour, the Swiss DJ and producer crunching distorted bass drums underfoot with textural low-end steppers and dark, ethereal vocals. And in the wee hours of morning, Lechuga Zafiro conjures his distinctive brand of chaotic latin percussion, with beats that feel like they’re constructed from the scrap metal of a crashed alien spaceship.

On Sunday, Groovy Groovy founder Akanbi leads us in morning prayer, greeting the sun with his always-spiritual and unfiltered African groovescape. Baalti keeps the room moving with high-energy club heaters, showcasing the trailblazing New York duo’s knack for infectious percussion and southeast asian pop fusions. We crash back down to Earth at maximum velocity as LA’s queen of juke DJ Noir joins forces with New York club staple DJ SWISHA, blasting through with one final bout of booty-lifting, high-tempo turbulence.

    their own biography

    the whole biography
Swiss DJ and producer NVST emerged from Lausanne’s free party and illegal rave circuits, a background that continues to shape a physical, high-tension approach to club music. Her sets move through breakbeat, techno, acid and industrial without settling, driven by a sharp sense of structure and rupture, where intensity builds, collapses and reconfigures in real time. Rather than navigating genres, NVST works the dancefloor as a space of friction and release, balancing precision with instability. This approach has taken her from underground scenes to major platforms, with performances at venues and festivals such as Atonal, Garage Noord, Dekmantel, Horst Arts & Music, Positive Education, Rewire, Fiber and Montreux Jazz Festival. Touring extensively across Europe, Asia and Latin America, she continues to expand her reach internationally, with a first run of shows in Brazil in 2026 and upcoming North American appearances including Nowadays in New York and MUTEK Montréal. She holds a residency at C12 in Brussels and is part of the extended Tresor family in Berlin, while maintaining a regular presence on the airwaves with radio residencies on Kiosk Radio and Rinse FM. Alongside her DJ practice, NVST has developed a body of recorded work across multiple formats, including several solo and alias releases on labels such as Tresor, Dekmantel, Fabric Records, SSPB, Les Disques Magnétiques and Maloca. Her productions reflect the same tension as her sets, combining raw rhythmic structures with a controlled sense of space and progression, In parallel, she has been progressively shifting toward live and hybrid formats. Through projects such as Drift Institute and Sixsixsevenfortyseven, she explores audiovisual performance as an extension of her club work, currently culminating in the development of her first solo live show in collaboration with visual artist Mika Oki. This new phase extends her practice beyond the DJ booth, opening up new ways of shaping sound, space and perception. Across club performances, broadcasts and live formats, NVST builds a practice rooted in DIY culture while continuously pushing toward more complex and immersive forms.
Their RA profile lists Tresor, Dekmantel, 777 Recordings, Lurid Music and 6 more.

He has taken regional sounds of the continent to the global stage.” Tayyab Amin,The Guardian Text by Nina Posner

“Akanbi is heading a new generation of dedicated ravers in New York City.”

    their own biography

    the whole biography
Akanbi is heading a new generation of dedicated ravers in New York City. Raised in Lagos, Nigeria, with limited access to the internet but a huge thirst for new music, Akanbi moved to NYC in 2010 and immersed himself head on into every corner of dance music, as a serious dancer and, eventually, a DJ and rave activator. He’s cultivated his unique style of DJing that delivers an intentional blend of freak-out boogie music, sensual rollers, whip-crack bangers, insistent percussion, afrobeat goodness, deep thumping low frequencies & slow-burning experimental descents. In 2014, he started New York City's GROOVY GROOVY party - a judgment-free atmosphere for wild dance floors, spiritual, mental & physical rejuvenation, radical politics, and a dose of undeniably rocking talent. Akanbi has made an impression with visionary sets across the globe at select spaces like Guggenheim Museum, Sustain Release, Nowadays, Dekmantel, Horst, OIL Club Shanghai, WWW Tokyo, Berghain/Panorama Bar, Corsica Studios, Primavera Sound Barcelona et al.
