Shaun Reeves is an internationally-acclaimed DJ, producer and label owner. A founding member of the trailblazing group Visionquest, his influence reaches far beyond the cities he has called home and stretches around the globe. Growing up in Michigan and brought up musically on a diet of house and techno in nearby Detroit, Shaun moved to the city in his late teens and began organizing small club nights and loft parties with his friends. Upon getting involved in the Detroit Scene, Shaun was immediately influenced heavily by the more minimal sounds from djs/artists such as Daniel Bell, Magda and especially from Zip and the Perlon label. This influence and a search for new inspiration led Shaun to take a summer holiday to Berlin in 2004 that turned into 10 years living in the city. In this time his deft touch as a DJ won him fans on dance floors from Panorama Bar to Fabric, DC10, Robert Johnson and countless other highly influential underground clubs. Combined with his time on the road with Visionquest, Shaun Reeves has covered much of the globe over the past decade, enthralling audiences on both sides of the Atlantic with his own highly distinctive mixture of American house, both classic and contemporary, and the deepest, most cutting edge aspects of post-minimal techno and tech-house. . In tandem with his DJing, Shaun Reeves has maintained a consistent level of production work, releasing on labels such as Wolf + Lamb, Raum...Musik, Catwash, No. 19 Music and his own Visionquest imprint. The artist is also an in- demand remixer, contributing remixes for Visionquest/ David Lynch, Tracy Thorn, Dop, Dinky (Sven Väth’s label Cocoon). Today, Shaun Reeves is determined to focus on his solo career and wishes to explore new possibilities in terms of musical creation. With plans afoot for a slew of high-quality releases, which embody his leftfield yet accessible take on house and techno, his release schedule for the coming year is already looking busier than ever.Their RA profile lists Simple Records, Crosstown Rebels, raum...musik, Catwash Records and 6 more.Recently at Signal, H0L0, Apollo Studio · often with Topper, Stretch, DAY, none of them here that night

The prolific producer’s original style landed AD at the forefront of a major underground music movement, transcending genre barriers and breaking down walls as few other underground artists have. Their game-changing contribution to the electronic music landscape has been undeniable, garnering accolades such as ‘#1 Track of the Year’ at the Beatport Awards in 2011, the iTunes #2 ‘Best Electronic Album’ of 2011, hailed as the “hottest duo in dance music” from media outlets such as DJ Mag, awarded the 2010 ‘Track of the Year’ for their breakout hit ‘Without You’ by long-standing authorities like Resident Advisor (UK), Groove Mag (Germany), and #2 in Mixmag (US), and voted #6 Top DJ's in the world in 2012. The duo have also graced the covers of DJMag Canada, Now Magazine, DJ Times, Raveline Magazine and have been widely featured in the press, including The Guardian, Rolling Stone, Vogue, I:D, Nylon and Vibe Magazine; who ranked them #2 DJ/Producers in the world in 2013 (second only to Daft Punk), firmly establishing them as a rarity in the world of electronic music. Since the project’s inception, the band has been one of the most in-demand touring acts on the circuit, performing at nearly 150 events annually on a seemingly never-ending world tour. Since their installation as residents at DC10 in Ibiza (arguably the most revered club on earth), AD has taken their immersive and unique style of DJ’ing to esteemed nightclubs such as Fabric and Panorama Bar, have performed at trendsetting international festivals like Movement (Detroit), Ultra Music Festival (Miami/Brazil), EDC (Las Vegas), BPM Festival (Mexico), Exit Festival (Serbia), Parklife (UK/Oz), Creamfields (Buenos Aires), Global gathering (UK), Burning Man (Black Rock), Lollapalooza (Chicago), Coachella (California) and Tomorrowworld (Belgium) to name but a few. In 2012 They reached yet another milestone when the duo were welcome guests on the legendary BBC Radio 1 Essential Mix and at the BBC’s hallowed Maida Vail studios, joining a rich history alongside the likes of The Rolling Stones and The Beatles. Art Department’s debut release Vampire Nightclub / Without You arrived in 2010 sounding fully formed, a track so unique that it set the electronic music world ablaze placing the project firmly at the foundation of a new era in underground dance music. Since then the pair honed their original and remix production skills, most notably on White’s own No.19 Music, with their crown jewel being the impressive debut album The Drawing Board released on the prestigious Crosstown Rebels label. Art Department’s sophomore album, Natural Selection expanded upon their previous body of work, building a deeper and more experimental sound while staying true their original music style that won the hearts of their dedicated fans. Now Art Department enters the next chapter making the change in direction abundantly clear with the creation of the latest Fabric Mix compilation, the 82nd in the legendary series. Focussed more narrowly on the dance floor and a heavier, dubby house and techno sound, Jonny released the new Art Department mix in June 2015 and returned to Room 1 of the revered club for a debut and special launch party along side former partner Kenny Glasgow, Scott Grooves and No.19 co-founder Nitin. Jonny continues to successfully develop his beloved No.19 Music record label, which to date has released works from over 100 of the most influential electronic artists across the globe. As such, in its 6th year it has become one of the most sought after imprints in contemporary dance music. In recent months the label has seen a string of celebrated producers showcase their talent, with the likes of Guy Gerber, Mathew Jonson, Jamie Jones, Martinez Brothers, DJ Tennis, Radio Slave and Dennis Ferrer all providing remixes for AD’s Natural Selection LP. Art Department, continuing to push his own creative boundaries and explore new ways in which he can help cultivate underground music culture, has found his latest efforts materialize in the form of two new vinyl-only imprints. The first, Social Experiment, is the name used for the brand of highly successful No.19 Music record label showcases that have been one of the most in-demand events at the aforementioned clubs and music festivals around the world. The second imprint, named Sunday Money, will serve as yet another opportunity for Jonny to provide even more unknown and established artists with a platform to release a slightly different style of electronic music, more heavily focused on collectors of deeper, "post-minimal" house and techno. This Autumn will also see Jonny begin work on an issue close to his heart - Music Against Animal Cruelty, a non-profit organization with one simple objective: to save African wildlife. Along with long-time friend and co-founder Wade Cawood, MAAC will act as a broker between musicians, industry insiders and music fans alike, helping to save animals facing the dangers of a diminishing population or extinction. As an additional contribution, the Social Experiment imprint will form a crucial part of fundraising efforts in its guise as a non-profit record label, with all proceeds being donated to MAAC. Now, as 2015 draws to a close, Art Department enters its next phase and continues to evolve, with Jonny alone at the controls. Never one to rest on his laurels, Art Department will continue to explore new sounds and ideals, bringing his reimagining of a project loved by so many to the world stage with no end in sight.Their RA profile lists Crosstown Rebels, No.19 Music, The W Label, Social Experiment Records and 1 more.Recently at Refuge, Under the K Bridge · often with Kenny Glasgow, Lauren Ritter, Carl Craig, none of them here that night
“Legend has it that Hólmar was born under the winter solstice in the remote highlands of Iceland, to one of the Hidden People communes.”
their own biography
the whole biography
Legend has it that Hólmar was born under the winter solstice in the remote highlands of Iceland, to one of the Hidden People communes. His elvish mother passed during childbirth, and one snowy night he was discovered by sheep farmers in the valley below, with a note promising them protection of their flock if they raised him as their own. They agreed—wisely. His childhood was spent on the farm, swimming in mountain lakes with his adoptive mother until a national synchronized swimming coach, hiking nearby, spotted him mid-spin. Soon, young Hólmar was training in Reykjavik, on track for Olympic glory—until a career-ending injury ended his dreams, but launched him into another: dance. He formed the Black Widows troupe and toured Scandinavia, winning competitions and the hearts of audiences. His obsession with making show playlists led to impromptu DJ sets at underground parties—until he was unceremoniously kicked out of the troupe for prioritizing decks over dance rehearsals. Crushed but determined, he moved to New York, started throwing infamous parties in clubs across Manhattan, and co-founded Crack & Speed Records with his Parisian comrade Jef-K, releasing his first records under the monikers Mr. Negative & The Spencer Filipsson Experience. A fateful night at a former brothel on the Lower East Side led to his meeting with Greg Oreck—and the birth of Thugfucker. Their track “Disco Gnome” became the first release on Life and Death Records, and Hólmar spent the next decade touring with them and spreading mischief across the globe. Post-Thugfucker, Hólmar leaned into his inner Acid Tourist—a psychedelic transition that involved at least one synchronized dance in the desert, questionable fashion choices, and zero regrets. A beloved figure on the playa, he’s played transformative sets at Robot Heart, Distrikt, Pink Mammoth, and Mayan Warrior, weaving emotion, humor, and bass into dust-kissed memories that still echo across the sands. He launched new collaborations including Beauty/Beast with Philipp Jung, the supergroup Formerly with Anstascia, Philipp Jung, and Kenny Glasgow as well as projects like Lovestruckk with Nico Stojan, and Theory of Light with Brian Cid. He’s also the co-founder of We Give A Jam, a sonic relief movement in response to the Los Angeles wildfires, bringing together 50+ artists to raise funds via a global music community in partnership with Electronic Groove and Listed Bookings. With his first edit All is Full of Love (Acid Tourist and Rohan Aylan Re-Imagination) released on Acid Tourism, this is only the beginning. Growing up in New York City as a youth in the Metropolitan Opera, Shane cut his teeth mixing hip-hop and R&B records while studying classical piano & music theory at The Manhattan School of Music. Known for his eclectic closing-set each year at The Sunset Campout and annual Disco Knights slot at Burning Man, Shane’s skill lies in weaving together a wide range of genres and rhythms satisfying audiences from New York’s Panther Room to London’s Saatchi Gallery. Born of Indian and American heritage, Solana's upbringing was steeped in the rich tapestry of classical and world music, courtesy of her familial influences. She studied piano, flute, and voice, yet felt constrained by their limitations in expressing the kaleidoscope within her soul. During her teenage years, she was exposed to commercial trance anthems and some random techno sets from older friends, but it wasn't until she encountered the transcendent realms of Fabric, the sonic landscapes of Ricardo Villalobos, Perlon, James Holden, and other high-quality artists including the raw energy of Detroit and Chicago that her true musical odyssey began. It was a transformative year-long backpacking odyssey through Southeast Asia that set Solana on her path. Amidst the majestic Austrian Alps, she found herself amidst a vibrant community of UK ravers, immersed in the pulsating heartbeat of dance music culture. For fourteen years, Solana meticulously curated her sonic palette collecting records, drawing inspiration from deep house to dub techno, microhouse to drum 'n bass. Her journey was one of collector to selector, as she danced through legendary venues like Berghain, Club Der Visionaere, Robert Johnson, and other hallowed spaces. Yet, it's in the present moment that Solana finds her true calling. In 2023, she founded AIRPLANE MODE, a label and event series dedicated to fostering immersive experiences that transcend time and space. AIRPLANE MODE isn't just about the music; it's a movement, a philosophy urging all to embrace the present and savor each fleeting moment. Solana's DJ sets are a testament to her eclectic tastes and boundless creativity, weaving together diverse genres and rhythms. She has united dancers around the globe, playing at events hosted by Resolute, Robot Heart, Apollo Studio, Elegantly Wasted (Sofia), Meadows in the Mountains festival (Bulgaria), Black Rhino Radio (Bucharest), Golden Record, and H0L0. Join Solana on her journey as she spreads sunshine and joy through the power of music.
