DJ 5LAPHOUSE is more than a DJ, he’s a cultural architect shaping the sound, energy, and creative freedom of Indianapolis nightlife. Born Elgin Reese II, the Indianapolis based DJ, producer, and creative entrepreneur has quickly become one of the city’s most recognizable figures in underground house music and queer nightlife. Known for his fearless personality, high energy sets, and community first mindset, 5LAPHOUSE has built a reputation for turning dance floors into spaces of liberation, expression, and culture. With over eight years behind the decks, 5LAPHOUSE has developed a signature style he proudly calls “Slap House” a bold fusion of house music, techno, hip-hop, Miami bass, Jersey club, and breakbeats. His sets are known for blending genres, speeding up tracks, and delivering an electrifying experience that keeps crowds moving all night. Beyond the sound itself, his music carries a deeper message: reminding audiences that house music was created by Black and queer communities and deserves to remain rooted in that culture. In a city where house music culture has often lived underground, 5LAPHOUSE has stepped forward as a pioneer. As one of the only openly Black gay male DJs playing house music in Indianapolis, he uses his platform to create spaces where people from all backgrounds especially LGBTQ+ creatives can feel seen, safe, and celebrated. One of his most impactful contributions to the city’s nightlife scene is Club Cunt, the underground dance party he founded in 2023. The event quickly gained attention for its raw, unapologetic energy and inclusive atmosphere. Designed as a safe and creative space for queer people and allies, the party blends music, fashion, art, and performance into a full cultural experience. For many attendees, it’s more than a party it’s a community. What makes 5LAPHOUSE’s journey even more powerful is the resilience behind it. Before building his brand and launching one of Indianapolis’ most talked about underground events, he faced personal challenges, including periods of financial instability and couch surfing while chasing his dream. Instead of letting those obstacles stop him, he used them as motivation to create something bigger than himself a platform that uplifts others. Outside of Indianapolis, his sound and reputation continue to expand. From New York nightlife to events in Los Angeles, Chicago, and Atlanta, 5LAPHOUSE has brought his high energy style and fearless creativity to dance floors across the country, building a growing fan base and establishing himself as an emerging voice in modern house music culture. But what truly makes 5LAPHOUSE important isn’t just the music it’s the movement. He represents a new generation of artists who refuse to wait for opportunities and instead build their own platforms. Through music, fashion, nightlife, and creative collaboration, he is cultivating a culture where authenticity wins, community matters, and everyone has space to shine. In a city still discovering its modern house music identity, DJ 5LAPHOUSE is helping lead the charge turning underground energy into a cultural force and proving that when the music is real, the people will follow.
