    their own biography

    the whole biography
Jake from State Pharm grew up surrounded by music, with his French horn-playing mom and Deadhead dad helping shape the soundtrack of his early years. Jake’s first exposure to electronic music came from his dad playing Moby’s seminal Play album during long car rides. However, his love for dance music truly took off in college, inspired by the sounds of Disclosure and Mat Zo. This passion expanded as he became a regular on the NYC underground party scene, spending long nights (and early mornings) dancing at spots like Golden Records, Resolute, and Space is the Place, among others. Jake began his DJ journey during the COVID pandemic, when the clubs were closed, and livestream sets just weren’t cutting it anymore. He quickly developed a reputation for sets that pay homage to classic house and disco, while mixing in the latest funky grooves to keep booties shaking. His fluency in the language of the dance floor is always apparent, spinning tunes across a multitude of genres—gospel house, nu-disco, indie dance, UKG, dub techno, and more—always delivering the tracks people didn’t know they needed. You may have caught Jake from State Pharm at NYC venues such as TBA Brooklyn, Hell Phone, and Ra Ra Rhino, or on the playa at Burning Man. He’s also made appearances at regional festivals like Love Burn in Miami and Calling All Magical People in Maryland. Wherever he goes, Jake brings the good vibes and deep respect for the music. Just remember—like a good raver, State Pharm is there!
