Hosted by DJ and musician Steen, Open Decks is a creative and fun space where DJs can hang and share their house and techno music live. Hear your favorite or original tracks on Silo's front room sound system, a custom 15,000 watt Danley powerhouse.
If you want to play, talk to Steen to sign up. Sign-up is in person at the event only, slots are 12 minutes.
The first 3 DJ's play first-come-first-spin. Then we'll select names randomly from the sign-up list throughout the night, with extra weighting for DJs who arrive earlier. You'll get a half hour notice before your set time. This is to ensure that DJ's who can't make the initial sign up right at 8pm still get a chance to play.
This week's co-host is Surfing DJs. On this night, producers especially are encouraged to bring and test their original tracks on a club system.

Born and raised in Brooklyn, New York, @SteenSchmidt is a house and techno DJ, blues rock guitar player, and singer. He has performed in clubs, bars, and toured statewide. He has recorded as a songwriter, guitarist, and singer since he was 13 years young. Along with clubbing since he was 18, Steen is familiar with the NYC underground scene. Years later, he began djing parties and venues around Brooklyn having residencies at Happyfun Hideaway, SILO, Rash, and many more. Steen hosts open decks at SILO for over a year, and also at Happyfun Hideaway for over three years, in which he collaborates with many local DJs to help many beginner DJs get experience or get used to playing live. His party series Debauch has featured artists Frankie Bones, Kush Jones, Concrete Husband, S'aint Panic, Alissa Brianna, SPF50, MZ3, and more in underground venues, SILO, Jupiter Disco, and Earthly Delights. His DJ performances range from classic, deep and tech house to raw, deep, hypnotic and hard techno, along with elements of electro, breaks and more.Recently at La Noxe Trinity, SILO · often with Ben Zo, ceviché, Adam Hadari, none of them here that night
